If you're serious about sound, you'll find the C7 an endlessly gratifying companion. With KEF's phenomenal 0.75" tweeter and "tangerine" waveguide — complemented by a pair of 6.5" woofers — an intricate and disarmingly naturalistic three-dimensional sound image floods the room. The two-way C7 floorstanding speaker is the serious older sibling of the C series line. An improved 0.75" tweeter combines with two 6.5" woofers and a front-ported bass-reflex enclosure for full, expansive low- and high-frequency audio reproduction. Further, a whole host of design features showcases the performance potential of KEF's C series speakers.

The C series' foundation

Before we delve into the details of the C7's high- and low-frequency drivers, let's take a quick look at the C series' repertoire of performance-enhancing design features. First on the list: speaker-wire terminals. Not only does the C7 have dual sets of binding posts that accommodate bi-wiring and bi-amplification for clean frequency response, but the binding posts are gold-plated for high-fidelity transmission of your audio signal. Next, the use of an ultra-rigid cabinet construction and a dense, dual-layer baffle system minimizes internal resonance and unwanted distortion of your favorite audio. Finally, magnetic shielding of the drivers allows all of the C series loudspeakers to be safely placed near your television with no risk of damage to the screen.

A high-frequency medley: tweeters and tangerines

What if a high-frequency driver's soundstage could be widened to fill your entire listening area, while still preserving the integrity of high-frequency audio reproduction? With its new "tangerine" waveguide, the C7's 0.75" aluminum-dome tweeter delivers both a smoother, clearer high-frequency response and an even more expansive audio dispersion, leaving even further behind the notion of an audio "hot-spot." An appropriate first song: Led Zeppelin's "Tangerine", what else?

Full, extended bass

You might think that the folks at KEF would have been just fine, relying on the C7's dual 6.5" woofer drivers to fill out its low-frequency audio reproduction. But the engineers at KEF took things one step further, coupling the dual-woofer system with a front-firing bass-reflex port. While the vibration at the rear side of a driver can result in unwanted resonance and distortion in your audio, bass-reflex systems take advantage of that movement of air to improve audio performance. The C7's contoured front port extends this speaker's bass performance and improves bass efficiency for a full low-frequency effect.
