Direct/Reflecting® Speaker Technology

Advancing a long-standing tradition of high-quality audio, these speakers feature Bose® proprietary Direct/Reflecting® speaker technology to re-create lifelike, spacious sound. At a live performance, much of the sound you hear is reflected off the walls, ceiling and floor. Only a small percentage (about 11 percent) reaches you directly. It's this combination of reflected and direct sound that makes music sound live. With conventional speakers, virtually all of the sound is radiated directly into the room. Much of the spaciousness of the live performance is lost. Direct/Reflecting® speaker technology can recreate the ratio of reflected and direct sound similar to what you hear at a live show. You enjoy a natural balance of reflected and direct sound for a listening experience most conventional speakers cannot match. Music sounds similar to what you'd hear at a concert, while movie sound effects resonate much the way they do at the theater.

All-Around Performance

These speakers fit practically anywhere. They're ideal for your living room, bedroom, or really wherever you'd like. Acoustically and visually, they match other Bose speakers for seamless sound and styling. If you're thinking about component home theater arrangements, they can serve as front speakers with the VCS-10® center channel speaker and 201® or 161™ speakers for surround sound. Or use these 301® speakers as rear surround speakers with a VCS-10 center channel and 701® or 601™ speakers up front. With so many options at your disposal, you're sure to find a happy home for these outstanding speakers.

Sound Engineering

The 2" proprietary drivers in these speakers are engineered to direct mid to high frequencies to a wide, stable area between the speakers. Used in these Direct/Reflecting® speakers, they help create a sense of lifelike spaciousness and let you hear full stereo throughout the listening area. These particular speakers feature two 2" tweeters, one facing the room, the other firing out the back to provide a wider, more natural soundstage, making even a small room seem bigger and more spacious. A new port design helps deliver deeper, cleaner bass to enhance the impact of DVD special effects and TV sports. A spatial dispersion lens gives smoother high-frequency response and wider distribution of sound.
