The secret to EWB performance is a dimpled central-diaphragm termination and rear-chamber venting; the result is rich, nuanced high-frequency audio output. Second, the RS 260's single 6.5" woofer driver features Fiber Ceramic Copolymer Material (FCCM) construction. By blending fiber and ceramic materials and melding them into a proprietary copolymer, and then adding Deep Channel Design technology, Boston Acoustics is able to produce a smooth response over the entire operating range. While the RS 260's baffle, or speaker enclosure, features a smooth surface and invisible hardware, its most compelling element is its Super Linear Plane (SLP) design which nearly eliminates acoustic diffraction. Further, super-shallow grilles using an invisible magnetic attachment create an almost entirely seamless alignment with the front baffle plane, significantly reducing sonic barriers. As a result, you hear equally pristine audio, whether the grille is on or off. Coupled with the RS 260's tightly spaced driver placement, SLP technology achieves near-point-source sonic coherence, wide dispersion, and astonishing imaging.
