Infinity Classia Series
Forget their stunning good looks that turn any room into a handsome gallery of home theater. Forget that they remind you of graceful Greek architecture, or sleek sports cars, or blend in perfectly with your decor. None of those great qualities even compare to the way that they sound. The Infinity Classia Series of loudspeakers continues the longstanding Infinity commitment to accurate sound reproduction. Their patented Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD) drivers, and rigid, well-braced enclosures combine to deliver uncompromised performance. In addition, these speakers are magnetically shielded for safe placement near your television.
You'll give a standing ovation to these floorstanders
Even though I just tried to talk you into ignoring their good looks, really we all know that the outstanding performance is pretty well balanced with beautiful design. The CMMD technology means improved accuracy, dramatically reduced distortion, and incredibly lifelike sound. The C336 also features an improved tweeter that can extend high frequencies out to 40kHz. The tweeter is mounted in a Constant Acoustic Impedance (CAI) waveguide to distribute the sound across the listening room. Triple 6.5" woofers ensure outstanding bass response from a narrow, space-saving enclosure, making it the ideal speaker for all your HD music and video programs.
Reinventing sound reproduction
Today, Infinity acoustic researchers are doing breakthrough work in the fields of transducer and system design. With new materials, new theories and new measurement methods, they are literally reinventing the concept of what a state-of-the-art sound-reproduction system should comprise. Loudspeaker systems should be neutral devices, converting electrical signals from power amplifiers into exact acoustical equivalents, adding and subtracting nothing. Art is in the music itself in the musical sounds from fine instruments. The task of the loudspeaker is to reproduce this art transparently, without changes. Infinity's objective is to build loudspeakers that are as neutral as possible, so they accurately reproduce the subtle characteristics, timbres, and voices of musical instruments.
Reducing resonance
When designing a speaker, the main obstacle is to reduce the resonance or vibration that is naturally going to occur in any physical structure when sound waves encounter it. Much of speaker technology revolves around reducing vibrations and the resulting distortion within the speaker. For loudspeaker diaphragms (cones or domes), these resonances are the primary source of audible coloration.
What is CMMD?
Working in collaboration with metallurgy specialists, the resourceful Infinity transducer engineers identified a special combination of materials that have ideal properties to reduce or dampen distorting vibrations. CMMDs are much stiffer than standard metal diaphragms, moving the natural resonances upwards in frequency. At the same time, CMMD cones have more damping than metal cones, making this an excellent cone material for all transducers: woofers, midranges, and tweeters.
