Downright sexy
It might seem odd to refer to a speaker as "sexy", but really, have you seen the Concerto Domus? They are classy, edgy, and yes, downright sexy from the ground up. Rather than simply sit on a wood slat on the bottom of the speaker, the Concerto Domus rests on 4 spikes, giving it a slightly rebellious look. From there, on the front, back, and top, there is a layer of black leatherette, adding a look of unattainable refinement while minimizing surface diffraction and serving as a sealing gasket for the drivers. The side panels, which are de-coupled for resonance control, bear a look of sheer sophistication. They are gorgeous gloss black, which looks great. This comes together to form a speaker that not only sounds great, but looks like a million bucks, too.
But what if you ever need to use them?
Not to worry. As great as they look, the Concerto Domus speakers aren't just for show. The quality of their sound makes them much more than just decorative. Designed to "play" music rather than just reproduce it, the Concertos are shaped like lutes, which is both eye-catching and purpose-driven, as it creates a more ideal resonating chamber for sound. These speakers handle 30W to 200W without any clipping. The speakers consist of a 7" mid-woofer paired with a 1" tweeter. Sonus Faber was a brand created for the purpose of great sound, which is exactly what the beautiful Concerto Domus will deliver.

Sonus Faber is well renowned in the audiophile community and does not need an introduction. The Concerto Domus is the previous generation - now replaced by the Toy range of speakers - entry line of speakers from this company. The concerto is middle of the range in the domus series - concertino is the small bookshelf, concerto is a 2 way floorstanding and the grand piano is the largest, 3 way floorstanding.
The build quality is simply outstanding. Every detail is immaculate - the hallmark of Sonus Faber. The icing on the cake is the packaging. I dont understand why all speakers are not packaged like this. In a nutshell, it is shipping proof if you have shipped speakers before, you know what I mean.
Now to the most important part - the sound. Very good dynamism and power. Amazing for home theater. But fit is a little forward sounding than I had expected and read on many a review and discussion forums online. I personally prefer the soundstaging, smoothness and integration of the Vienna Acoustics Bach over the Concerto Domus. The Concertos sound a bit muddy and are lacking a wide soundstage. However, in their defense, they have only played for 25 odd hours. So hopefully they will bloom over time.
Associated equipment
Cambridge Audio 840c CD player

Bottomline I would not buy them at their original price, but they are undoubtedly an Incredible value at their current price at Vanns.
