The Mirage High Definition Theater (HDT) system integrates unique advanced in musicality, dynamics, and intelligibility with flexibility of placement and application. Mirage's extraordinary Pure Titanium Hybrid tweeters, midranges, and hybrid polypropylene woofers form the core of the HDT system. Since its inception, the Mirage HDT series of in-box speakers has received a myriad of awards and is seen by many as the reference in the audio industry. Seeing this, Mirage engineers felt that the HDT series would provide the best framework for designing in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. With this in mind, Mirage engineers began a journey to build the most advanced in-wall speakers in the industry. The largest research and development project in the company's history ensued and Mirage engineers uncovered and overcame numerous challenges that the rest of the audio industry had ignored for years. The result is the Mirage Incognita line of in-wall speakers, voiced perfectly to blend with other Mirage products. Home theater systems can now freely employ Mirage speakers in the same room as Mirage Incognita in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, yet still enjoy perfect timber matching. |
UltraDamped mounting system |
The patent pending UltraDamped mounting system revolutionizes in-wall speaker performance by eliminating drywall resonances. The mounting system also enables quick installation while dramatically improving performance. First, an optional all metal pre-construction bracket reinforces the drywall and installs between the studs and joists rather than on the face, leaving no drywall bulge. After the drywall is installed, or during a retrofit where drywall is already in place, the mounting kit's WallBracers&trade and acoustic and fire rated damping material are installed above and below the speaker opening. The WallBracers expand to reinforce the drywall and reduce resonance. Resonances are further reduced by the speaker itself. All speaker components are mounted on an extremely dense one inch thick piece of MDF baffle, which is screwed to a rigid clamping bezel with unique spring-loaded mounting dogs. The overall result is a thoroughly damped and vibration-free platform for Mirage Incognita driver technology. |
Boundary compensation circuitry |
Boundary compensation circuitry solves the imaging and positioning problems created by in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. Every room has structural boundaries (walls, floors, and ceiling). A speaker flush mounted near these boundaries will excite certain frequencies. This results in mid bass chestiness, thus blurring the image, which until now has prevented all in-wall and in-ceiling products from matching the performance of an equivalent box speaker. Through extensive computer modeling and many hours of experimental research, Mirage engineers were able to create circuitry that manages the boundary effects of mid-wall, near wall/ceiling, and even in-corner installations via a front mounted switchable crossover unit. The result? In-wall and in-ceiling speakers that image and perform like other award winning Mirage box speakers. |
