High-performance sound from a subtle center channel |
To meet the demand for speakers that fit almost anywhere and still deliver excellent sound, Klipsch has developed a new compact center channel for its legendary Reference Series line. The RCX4 enters the lifestyle category by combining performance, style and functional versatility for users who want dynamic sound in a small, unobtrusive package. This horizontal-oriented center-channel loudspeaker can handle multiple installation applications without trading off sound for style and convenience. Its high-performance sound nicely enhances stereo or home-theater applications, allowing audio aficionados to create captivating audio experiences. |
First the 'highs' |
The high frequencies from your favorite movie's audio emanate from the RCX4's 1" titanium dome compression driver tweeter. The round MicroTractrix&trade horn molded into the front of the tweeter's cast-aluminum baffle raises the driver's efficiency and controls its radiation pattern to minimize detail-blurring reflections from walls, floor, and ceiling. This means sharp and focused high-frequency audio performance. |
Then the 'lows' |
Designed with vented-enclosure woofers (also known as a bass-reflex woofers), the RCX4 allows you to experience enhanced low-frequency reproduction out of a smaller enclosure. Vented systems use the sound produced at the rear side of the diaphragm to increase the efficiency of the system at low frequencies by taking advantage of the resonance of ports or vents designed into the enclosure. The air mass in the cylindrical ports resonates in response to the movement of the air behind the diaphragm within the enclosure, similar to the way that the air in a glass bottle resonates when you blow air across its mouth. Your new RCX4's dual-vented design extends low-frequency performance and, simultaneously, allows for a more modest enclosure size that won't dominate space in your living room. |
Home audio balances at the center |
Center-channel audio needs to be clean, clear, and powerful. In surround-sound applications, center channels deliver a film's dialogue as well as impacting effects. The key to clean, clear, and powerful center-channel audio is balance. Featured on the RCX4's two 4" Cerametallic&trade cone woofers, Klipsch Tapered Array&trade Technology operates both woofers at the lowest frequencies and only one all the way up to the point where the tweeter takes over, eliminating the destructive middle-frequency interference between woofer outputs characteristic of ordinary woofer-tweeter-woofer lineups. Additionally, the low-frequency response extends deep enough to mesh seamlessly with the crossovers built into A/V receivers, surround processors, and powered subwoofers. By balancing high and low frequencies, the RCX4 enhances your home audio experience with superb center-channel sound. |
