Lyrical . . . dramatic . . . the Concet series center-channel
For all their BANGs, ZOOMs, and SCREECHs, the special effects served up by a home theater's front and rear surround sound speaker don't deliver much in the way of plot. For that, you look to a movie's dialogue. And movie dialogue — as well as music vocals — is the realm of the center-channel speaker. And there's only one source for clear movie dialogue and detailed music vocals: the C 400 CEN from Jamo. Teaming a single 1.0" tweeter with dual 4.0" woofer drivers, this Concert series center speaker completes your home theater listening experience with vivid, nuanced dialogue and vocals. And ensuring breath-taking realism, the C 400 CEN offers innovative DTT technology. Decoupled Tweeter Technology mounts the tweeter driver independent of each C 400 CEN's speaker cabinet, reducing vibration transmission from the front baffle to the tweeter by more than 20dB. The result is an uncommonly detailed and realistic reproduction of high-frequency audio. Make sure your home theater experience is lyrical and dramatic with the C 400 CEN speaker from Jamo.
Room to breathe
Every aspect of a speaker's design — from driver materials to crossover circuitry — plays a critical role in the speaker's ultimate level of performance. One component that often goes overlooked, and yet makes a significant contribution to a speaker's audio reproduction, is the cabinet in which the driver is housed. Chances are, you're aware that it's the movement of air at the front of a speaker's driver that realizes the reproduction of sound. However, you might not have considered the role played by the air moving at driver's rear . . . inside the cabinet. Most speaker enclosures are "closed", meaning that they are completely sealed off. As you might imagine, closed systems often restrict a driver's movement — reducing efficiency and the output range — and congest moving air within the cabinet, ultimately causing unwanted resonance. Ensuring a listening experience free of distortion and enhanced by improved efficiency and dynamic range, the C 400 CEN sports a bass-reflex enclosure. Also known as ported enclosures, bass-reflex cabinets feature openings, or ports, in the cabinet that facilitate the movement of air behind a speaker driver. With room to breathe, the C 400 CEN's 4.0" woofers pump out clear, full sound free of resonance and marked by extended bass-audio performance.

I purchased this speaker a few months ago and am very happy with it. It sounds great and gives very good, clear dialogue in movies and tv broadcasts. It is very well built and the Cherry fininsh looks really good too. It is definitely a big improvement over my previous center speaker from a HTIB setup. This is a quality speaker at a great price.

I bought this center as part of a bargain 5.1 set up I wanted for my family room. My budget was just $600 for all speakers and receiver. I didn't expect much due to the low price, but I am very pleased with this speaker. The build quality is high, it looks great and the sound is crystal clear. I have a fairly large room, 20x20 with a 2-story ceiling, and this little speaker has no problem filling the room with sound. I set the whole thing up last Sunday and put on a football game to test it and the announcers voices came in loud, clear and very smooth. Not at all harsh or too bright like I expected. Then I put in a BD and the speaker really came alive. In fact, it overpowered my in-walls, so I needed to make some adjustments! I also bought a Pioneer VSX-820 receiver, Polk PSW10 Sub and 4 Monoprice 8 in 3-way in-walls. There are, of course, better speakers, but not at this price. I will definitely check out Jamos higher end speakers for my basement home theater.

I purchased the C400CEN Jamo center because it is timbre matched to the C403 speakers I had for a few weeks from another seller. I am pleased with the sound. For the cost, I could not beat the deal I got on these speakers. If you are looking for a set of speakers that wont break the bank, look at the Jamo C40x series of speakers...I like C403s for LR with the C400CEN, the C401s for surrond and the C400SUR for the back channels in my townhouse home theater room. Just enough to be clear and sound good but not too big that it causes the neighbors issues when I watch a war movie or an action flick.

I previously bougth a set of C401 speakers. They played my music just fine - amazing sounds for a pair of book-shelf speakers. But they were not too good when I watched videos. Something was missing. I found the missing piece is the C400CEN center speaker. It matches and suplements in every way with the C401s. The movie dialogs are now loud and clear from the center speakers. I also found it easier to balance with a 3-speaker set-up than with two speakers only. Highly recommended for anyone running a Jamo C4xx series without a center.

I purchased two pair of C401s just because they were so cheap. After hooking them up to a Onkyo 804 in my bedroom I knew right away that I had something GOOD!! I immediately knew that I must buy the matching center. I had a center speaker from Parts Express that I thought was OK. Upon arrival I hooked up the C400Cen . I re-calibrated and balanced the speakers and really appreciated the build quality of the C400Cen and the matching C401. I was not blown away but was able to sit back and enjoy sound quality from a set of speakers that far exceed their purchase price. I played music, some jazz vocals, which revealed no huskiness or shrillness.
My only knock is that like the surrounds, the C400Cen does not accept banana plugs.
If I had a real need for another set of speakers , and thought that I could slip them by the wife, Vanns, here I come!!!

The center speaker in a surround sound system is important because that is where most of the dialog originates. With dual 4 inchdrivers and a tweeter, this guy does an admirable job, and sounds MUCH better than the sound coming from the TV itself, which is now permanently muted.
