Front and center performance |
Perhaps the most important loudspeaker in a home theater system is the center channel — because as much as 80 percent of the information in a surround soundtrack may come from there! The RTiA Series CSIA6 is all-MDF constructed, which creates an acoustically stable cabinet that doesn't interfere with the sound. Your CSIA6's anti-diffraction grilles help, too. Diffraction is a type of distortion that occurs when sound reflects off an object such as a grille frame. The re-radiated sounds smear the original sound, much like ghost images on a TV smear the picture. Sound wave reflections (diffraction), caused by grille frames, color the sound and make the speaker sound "closed in" and "boxy." Polk's technology lifts the grilles literally off the baffle area, minimizing grille-edge reflections for clearer sound and more open imaging. |

PowerPort® brings the boom back to your living room |
Really, the Polk's PowerPort® bass venting makes those King Kong movies sound almost too realistic. PowerPort greatly reduces "chuffing" or "port noise" and provides a deeper, lower distortion bass than most conventional ported or sealed designs of comparable size. Whether you know what "mylar bypass capacitators" are or not, their function serves you well. These babies are in the crossovers and extend high frequency response, resulting in improved detail and transparency. |
Smooth sound with Acoustic Resonance Control (ARC) |
Sound emanating from the back of the driver creates an "organ pipe" resonance at a frequency that is a function of the depth of the cabinet. This internal cabinet resonance can impart a "thick" character to voices. Polk's patented Acoustic Resonance Control port system overcomes this problem. |
Video shielding protects your TV |
In the past it wasn't possible to place speakers close to your TV due to possible damage from the magnetic fields inside the speaker. This limited speaker placement options, which has become more critical with today's smaller rooms and home theater applications.
