First off- I bought the T301c as an open box item, which was an incredible value. I paid less than half the retail cost and it was brand new, untouched. I knew KEF was a top-notch brand and I expected the highest qaulity, and I believe that is what I received.
Aesthetically, this T line is beautiful, very thin, and very well made-solid. It is also loud- in a good way-very clean & clear. I had a 3-4 year old Sony center speaker, which wasnt bad, but packed no where near the same punch. I couldnt hardly ever hear the voices over the soundtrack noise, even after adjusting the center channel throughput.
I have 2 very minor observations about this center channel speaker- bearing in mind that Im by no means an audiophile-
1. Wall mounting was a little challenging, but not at all overwhelming, and I think my setup over the fireplace offered unique challenges for me personally. I used the included wall plate for mounting and mychallenge came in getting the speaker to line-up with the plate securely. Im not the most coordinated, but i think average consumers would struggle with it none-the-less. Again no biggie or deal breaker.
2. The crossover is slightly higher than I expected, but I figured with a speaker this thin major bass output was a lot to expect. I have a BIC 12 powered sub, so its not major issue for me, but some might need to be aware of this and probably not use without a sub. Also, Ive only had this speaker hooked up for maybe 2 weeks, so its no where near broken in and I notice an improvement everyday.
This speaker fits MY needs perfectly being that it looks so nice and is unobtrusive but not small and has the power and clarity to project the dialog from TV and Movies beyond the loud background explosions, gunshots, wrecks and such- Movies are probably my biggest useneed. Music sounds even better than movies however.
