The center absorbs you to your core

Start choosing your movies for the dialogue, because now you'll hear every word. That's because the center channel is perhaps the most important speaker in a home theater system — it can send out as much as 80 percent of a surround soundtrack. KEF recognizes that you won't be as absorbed in the movie if every whisper of dialogue is not heard. So, if you want sound that takes you away from your day-to-day and thrusts you into 18-century Spain, or a galaxy far, far away, trust yourself to the KEF XQ50C: a genuine three-way floorstander with two 5.25" bass drivers in addition to a 5.25" midrange/0.75" HF Uni-Q Array, and KEF's new "crown-waveguide" device. The ultra-low distortion LF drivers are independently loaded in order to raise the frequency of any internal standing waves above the working frequency band, where they can't affect the integrity of the sound. And to minimize any electrical coupling, the LF/MF crossover is physically separate from the HF/SHF sections. Exquisite detail, wherever you sit. Exceptional lucidity, whatever the volume. What you experience is big, all-enveloping sound image, perfectly controlled.

The new Uni-Q. . . no hypertweeter?

KEF's Uni-Q Array, which offers distinct 'vocal intelligibility,' brings crisp transparency to all dialogue even when competing with ambient noise. Originally developed for KEF's legendary high end loudspeakers, the Uni-Q Technological Concept has been using aerospace materials to create an aluminum tweeter small enough to mount in the acoustic center of the 3" midrange driver so that both act as a single point source. This disperses the sound over a much wider area, so everyone in the room enjoys the same clear, warm, realistic sound instead of just those listeners positioned in the small 'sweet spot' that you get with conventional speakers. However, now KEF has developed a device, called a 'crown-waveguide' that surpasses the previous Uni-Q technology. This makes the speaker future-ready — and with its wider bandwidth, it's ready to handle HD formats without the need for a hypertweeter.

It doesn't take much experience to know great sound

If you've ever been a teenager with a mid-grade shelf system, you know what its like to listen to music on a less-than-perfect speakers.
