Feel the bass |
When it comes to your home audio experience, only one type of audio is multi-sensory — bass. Low-frequency audio is meant to be both heard and felt. Just imagine the roar of a jet engine in your favorite action flick rumbling your seat, or the bass drum in your favorite rock-out-around-the-house song shaking the walls. Now, while bass is meant to be heard and felt, it isn't meant to be seen. Enter the RW5101C. While most other subwoofers are large, bulky independent units intended for placement on your living room floor, this subwoofer from the folks at Klipsch is designed for in-ceiling installation. While its high-performance low-frequency reproduction completes your home audio experience, the RW5101C's paintable grille and frame can be seamlessly customized to match your decor. Once cleanly installed in your home theater's ceiling, you'll only notice that the RW5101C is even there when it's rattling vases off of shelves and photographs off the walls. |
Cerametallic™ — the technology behind it all |
Especially when it comes to low-frequency audio reproduction, distortion is the bane of all audio. Distortion, or "coloration", of the audio on your favorite albums or movies can come from a variety of sources, including low stiffness or damping of the driver cone. Combating this grand-nemesis of audio, the Klipsch RW5101C features an advanced Cerametallic™ cone design. Constructed using a specially treated aluminum that has been electrochemically transformed into ceramic on each of the cone's outer surfaces, Cerametallic cones allow the woofer to move at high speeds without blurring sound. The enhanced stiffness and damping that result bring your home theater a bass experience that is clear, powerful, impacting, and free of unwanted distortion. |
Tag-teaming distortion |
The RW5101C's Cerametallic woofer design is only the first step that this Klipsch subwoofer takes in the quest to bring you distortion-free bass. Medium-density fiberboard (MDF) motorboard and baffle construction combined with an ABS thermoplastic shell offers extra bracing and elevated rigidity that dramatically reduce unwanted resonance and vibration. Additionally, a sealed enclosure design further allows the RW5101C to deliver consistent low-frequency response regardless of ceiling space. |
An IMPORTANT note |
Now that you've decided to complete your home theater's audio with the Klipsch RW5101C, you might be wondering about how to power this bass machine. It is very important to note that this subwoofer must only be used with a Klipsch RSA-500 amplifier having a serial number of 08130001 or higher. See the additional image below the main image of the RW5101C on this page for an indication of where the serial number can be located on your RSA-500 amplifier. |
