Bass performance is a reflex for this sub

As a vented-enclosure subwoofer (also known as a bass-reflex sub), the NS-SW310 allows you to experience enhanced low-frequency reproduction out of a smaller enclosure. Vented systems use the sound produced at the rear side of the driver's diaphragm to increase the efficiency of the system at low frequencies by taking advantage of the resonance of ports or vents designed into the enclosure. The air mass in the cylindrical ports resonates in response to the movement of the air behind the diaphragm within the enclosure, similar to the way that the air in a glass bottle resonates when you blow air across its mouth. The NW-SW310's vented design extends low-frequency bass performance and, simultaneously, allows for a more modest enclosure size that won't dominate space in your living room.

Interference-free

This may come as a bit of a surprise, but not all speakers play well with others. All home theater components use electromagnetic energy, whether it's to transfer audio and video signals, to power video displays, or to drive speakers. Unfortunately, the powerful magnet structures and high-Wattage usage characteristic of home theater speakers generate a significant amount of electromagnetic energy. Enough energy, in fact, to interfere with and disrupt data signals or even to damage AV equipment if speakers are placed too close to other AV components. And with their large speaker drivers and high power output, subwoofers can be particularly problematic. Which means you have two choices: either place your subwoofer at a distance from your AV equipment (thereby increasing wiring costs), or invest in the NS-SW310 with magnetic shielding. Special electromagnetic shielding insulates other AV components from the NS-SW310's energy field, allowing you to safely place this powered subwoofer next to all AV equipment without any risk of signal degradation or equipment damage.
