Not your everyday audio
The Rel T1 embodies the performance initiatives of larger models that came before, but at a very attractive cost. Armed with a 300watt class A/B amplifier, the T1's 10" driver and 10" passive radiator will pressurize larger rooms with voluminous, authoritative sub-bass, yet with the perfect blend and aural disappearing act for which Rel is renowned. With complete Rel connectivity, T1 will do duty with ultra high quality speakers in the most sophisticated 2 channel music or theater systems!
REL performance
Rel sub-bass systems are engineered to provide powerful, deep, high-fidelity low bass to any audio or surround system. Most subwoofers are boomy and artificial sounding, prompting many to turn their subwoofer off for 'serious' listening or avoid buying one altogether. But a Rel delivers authoritative bass with the same realism and natural tone that is heard live, extending both the frequency and dynamic range of the entire system. With a Rel, your soundstage opens up, the listening room walls seem to melt away, and music breathes more naturally, giving more of a "you-are-there" experience. Most subwoofers make the bass louder, but lower in quality, cluttering up the music. But a Rel's depth and agility actually results in greater clarity all the way up through the main speaker's range, all while adding profound, stout, low bass. This makes listening to the whole system a better experience all around. No other sub brand measures up.
REL connectivity
A proprietary Speaker-Level Input is provided on each Rel Sub-Bass System and is the preferred method of connecting the Rel to your system. A supplied 30ft. High-Level cable connects this input to to the left and right channel speaker output terminals of your amplifier or receiver in parallel to your main speakers, so as not to be in the signal path between your amplifier and speakers. The Rel's input impedance of 100,000 ohms or higher prevents any additional load from being placed on your main amplifier. This feeds the Rel the exact same signal as your main speakers, providing seamless integration of low frequencies into your system. This High-Level connection is active at all times, whether listening to two-channel music or multi-channel film. The common RCA connection is also utilized when employing a Rel in a home theater system, but the richer signal delivered by the High-Level connection surely contributes to the Rel's ability to blend in while resolving bass detail and dynamics. Most Class D receivers or amplifiers can interface as REL Serie T incorporates REL-D™ input circuitry providing the appropriate impedance and grounding for digital amplification. If necessary, the standard RCA input can be used on a Rel for music listening in place of the Speaker-Level input.
REL theater reference
When it comes to home theater, Rel gets your system about as close as it gets to a Hollywood studio's mastering stage. Nearly all surround formats now use full range speakers, including deep bass, at every channel, including center and rear surrounds. Film sound directors make full use of these capabilities, placing different low bass effects in different channels or panning bass from one channel to another, tracking along with higher frequency sounds. There's also an additional .1 channel called the LFE (low frequency effects) that activates in short bursts during peak moments in the film. The challenge for a home speaker system is having to play the missing low bass notes from the left/right speakers at one volume, while playing sound from the LFE channel at a different volume. It's a tough job, and only a Rel is up to the task. With a Rel's dual volume controls, one for the Speaker-Level input, and one for the RCA style LFE input, the job is done. And with Rel's unique ability to play LFE from 120Hz and down, while isolating the Rel below, say, 40Hz on the Speaker-Level input, at the same time, it's done right. This way, the film soundtrack is left intact, as the director intended. Your movies will sound more dynamic and enveloping. There will be no need to constantly adjust the subwoofer's setting when switching between music and movies, because it can be correctly set for both!
REL possibilities
Few home-theaters are lucky to have room for two large front speakers with deep bass response. Fewer still have center channel or rear speakers that deliver the bass that is being dialed into those channels via the latest formats. Since the LFE channel is only used at certain times, most of the bass in a film could be missed. Multiple Rel units can be used in a home theater to extend the bass range of center and rear channel speakers via the Speaker-Level inputs… and add some extra LFE kick if desired. This approach makes all channels equally capable all across the sound spectrum, just as Dolby's professional specification calls for in a movie studio. So when that big jumbo jet flies over your head, it doesn't shrink into a Cessna as it approaches the rear speakers!

I purchased the T-1 to replace an ADS powered subwoofer that I purchased with a pair of LS 3-5A speakers in 1983. The ADS finally started giving problems so I decided to replace it. The ADS was a very good subwoofer, but the T-1 blows it away. The LS 3-5A speakers have never sounded so good. There is a seamless transition from them to the T-1. And the depth and clarity of bass is significantly better, This subwoofer rivals the Sunfire True Subwoofer Signature pair that I use in my main system.

The REL-T1 sub woofer is a solid sub with extra wires to hook up at the right and left pos. terminals and one neg wire. There are three nobbs to adjust the sound. Its real nice to have so much control over your sound. This is a large speaker and solid sound, Ill be experimenting with it for awhile now. Its heavy and well packed by Vanns A value to consider!

The first REL T1 I recieved was defective. Vanns customer service was couteous and prompt and I recieved my replacement in about 10 days. I was somewhat concerened at first but after a few days of breakin I was finally able to set the volume and crossover to an acceptable level. I hooked up the T1 according to the manual with the high input cable and an RCA for LFE. After another week or so of fine tuning I am pleased to say the results are outstanding! The T1 provides completly natual and seamless low frequenciy bass into my system, as well as floor shaking low frequency effects in movies. The build quality is top notch, the word I would use to describe it would be Tank- like. In summation VANNS and REL, an unbeatable combination.

I replaced a Boston Acoustics PV-1000 which new was $1,200. This REL blows it away... and for $600! The depth and tightness of the bass is unequivocal. This has changed my system dramaticly and brought it to life. The customer service from Vanns is also fantastic.

I researched many sources to order a good Sub woofer. Since I already have British speakers B&W 704, I did not want to sacrifice on quality. So I decided to get a REL T1 and when I called REL Sumiko audio, they recommended to get the REL T1 from Vanns.Rel had sold so many T1 units from the last production batch to Vanns to sell, since T1s are discontinued . An absolute steel of a price, for a very known Audiophile quality Sub. Thats what my opinion about my deal. I got the Cherry T1 sub absolutely factory sealed brand new out of the box shipped free to my door step for $699, along with a 2 meter Audioquest Sub1 Subwoofer cable free of cost. Audioquest Sub cable is an expensive quality cable. Joshua, the sales person was excellent and easy to talk. The price was very reasonable. I received the Subwoofer at my door step by UPS. I did set up the Subwoofer as REL detailed in their manual. It looks and Sounds great. There is only one minor problem. The Sub box had a small dent in it when it arrived. That dent had caused a slight cosmetic damage on the T1 Grill like the glossy paint is damaged little bit. Other than that everything looks fine. Subwoofer sounds great, and I am not sure whether the box was damaged by UPS shipment or not.I will make an attempt to talk to Vanns.
