Im getting very good reception from all of the available channels in Missoula about 50 miles away. Much better than I expected, as I was only able to install it at a height of 6 ft. I am renting and was not allowed to install on the house, so instead I removed the existing satellite dish and installed it on that post. Was able to use the existing cable too. This antenna can be mounted in several different ways, and all of the necessary hardware is provided for this. I used antennawebs website to find the correct bearing and then my compass to aim before tightening in place. Attached the antenna cable to the little amplifier thats provided and attached the outgoing coaxial of the amplifier to Monsters flat screen power center HTS350. Then a short run of coaxial from the power center to the tv. Got it right the first time. Very pleased.
One tip. When expanding the two arms, carefully spread the arms one at a time and you will hear them click into place. Youll be able to see the tab on the inside when it is opened all of the way. It is a bit intimidating to do, because of the plastic and I was afraid to break it. But at least one side on mine took some effort before it finally snapped into place. If you ever have to move it and want collapse the arms to rebox, you will have to push each of those tabs in before being able to close the arms. Just mentioned that because the instrucions dont.

We were surprised when the local stations turned the power down after DTV went into effect, so, we bought a Terk HDTV0. This antenna is extremely easy to assemble and install. It improved reception, however, antennaweb.org showed us the real problem of our poor reception - signal strength. The Terk helped, but not enough. And, not all stations in Missoula are broadcasting at the same power level. As an experiment, we connected another antenna with the Terk using a splitter to see if that would help. I think the longer range Terk will bring in more signal and we will try that out next month. Look for another review from us about it in January 2011. We might try stacking another HDTV0 to see what happens. Depending on where you are in the Valley, the Terk HDTV0 is the best choice for a low wind load antenna, improved reception and ease of installation plus your FM receiver will pull in more stations.

When I purchased this antenna I was debating on whether or not to get an indoor or outdoor model. I initially purchased the TERK Amplified directional HDTV indoor antenna which had excellent reception but it took up more space in the house than I wanted. I returned it and purchased this one. This outdoor antenna does NOT pick up as many channels as the indoor one. It picks up enough and the clarity is great but not as good as the indoor one. This being said, I chose to keep this one because of the space issue. However, I am impressed with the sturdiness of this antenna. Weve had some nights with some very high winds that tore shingles off our roof but the antenna didnt budge. It was also fairly easy to install. We took down a Dish that was installed on the back of our house. Upon closer inspection, it appears the antenna would have connected to the base of the dish quite easily. We did not discover this fact until we had taken down the old Dish and mounted this antenna. We did use the existing cable that was attached and already run through the house. I am pleased with this purchase in spite of the poorer reception compared to the indoor model.
