What's Susceptible To Outages? Only Everything Electronic

One blip in your power can be ruinous. If there's a surge or even momentary outage, you can lose practically your entire home theater set-up. Your onscreen electronic program guide can disappear, your DVR hard drive can be lost; and because fans stop running to cool them, expensive front projector lamps can overheat and blow out. This applies to rear projector TV lamps as well. Plus, all that invaluable custom programming the installer did will get wiped out and send you back to the factory presets, requiring another install. Not only is your home theater at risk, but so are music systems and computer hard drives.

Automatic Power Regulation Is The Answer

Thankfully, an APC UPS gives you enough time to shut everything down properly when there's a power problem. The transformer in the unit automatically regulates power, allowing the S10 to correct brownouts and over voltages between 90-140 volts to within 3% of 120 volts. If the power goes outside this range, the battery backup kicks in to keep your system safely up and running.

It's UL approved and with a VFD (Vacuum Fluorescent Display) and LED status indicators, you get all the information needed to assure the system is running at optimal settings. Additional features include pure sine wave backup battery output, sequential turn on/off, isolated filter banks, and dataline surge protection. A USB data port jack enables the S10 to communicate with the included PowerChute Personal Edition software. If the unit is also protecting a home computer, the software will automatically save files and gracefully shutdown the operating system if the S10 is about to shutdown due to a low battery condition. Additional batteries can be added to extend backup time. The S10 is especially recommended for receivers and subwoofers.
