The commanding presence of Pronto
When you set your sights on building a "home theater", you took a literal approach. Not only did you extend audio and video throughout your home, but you chose to keep all A/V components, save video displays and speakers, tucked away out of sight — just you, the soundtrack, and the motion picture. However, a hidden, whole-home A/V system presents certain challenges insofar as installation and operation are concerned. First, with all your A/V components installed in a closet, you can no longer use line-of-sight infrared control to operate your system. Second, if your goal is a fully integrated home system, then you don't want to have individual, room-specific remote controls scattered all over the place. Accordingly, you've installed a Pronto control system from Philips. You use one or more Pronto wireless remotes to communicate with a Pronto extender from anywhere in the house, and the extender distributes command signals to the appropriate A/V devices for seamless system control. And for larger, whole-home systems there's only one Pronto solution: the RFX9600/37 serial extender.
Versatility and diversity of control
Your home theater system can only be described with one word: enviable. Your main theater area has a Full HD, studio-surround system with dimmable lights, a rear projector, and an automated projector screen. And that's just in one room! You have additional audio and video zones scattered across the house — in-wall stereo speakers in the kitchen and on the deck, flat panel TVs in the bedroom and home office, etc. And controlling it all, you have a Pronto system featuring an RFX9600/37 serial extender. The RFX9600/37's success is due primarily to the number and diversity of control options offered. First, four addressable IR ports can be used to independently control up to four A/V components using the same infrared commands used by the components' original remote controls. Second, four RS-232 interfaces provide an advanced level of control security, ideal for use with more advanced components like A/V receivers, HD Projectors, or lighting systems. Third, four relay-output contact closures deliver optimal control of motorized equipment like projector screens, plasma lifts, curtains, and more. Fourth, four power sense inputs make it possible to utilize macro commands to power equipment on and off. Finally, and ethernet port connects the RFX9600/37 to a wireless router for communication with your Philips Pronto wireless remote control. All together, the versatility and diversity of control offered by the RFX9600/37 equips you to realize a fully integrated, whole-home control system.
Intelligent input
Adding another level of control to your whole-home system, Philips has designed the RFX9600/37 with smart feedback technology. The two-way Pronto protocol system regulates and monitors all commands that are sent from Pronto control panels to the extender. For its part, the extender acknowledges the successful execution of all commands and will automatically inform you of any failure to execute. Nineteen LED indicator lights provide continuous information about system operation, displaying errors and aiding with troubleshooting.
Ready for install
Naturally, you're going to install the RFX9600/37 in the A/V rack in the closet with the rest of your components. Equipping you for simple installation, the RFX9600/37 includes all the necessary hardware for installation in a 19" A/V rack.
