A necessary nuisance

Look, we know you're not a fan of having to wear glasses to watch 3D, and we understand. Frankly, we'd rather watch 3D movies and events without the glasses too, but the technology just isn't around yet. Until somebody comes up with a feasible way to do that, we're stuck with the darn things. But if you saw Avatar in 3D in the theaters, chances are that you understand that the inconvenience of glasses is SO worth it for Full HD 3D movies. Helping you make the best of an unfortunate situation, Sony's 3D glasses do have some pretty cool features. For starters, they don't distort color or contrast, so the picture looks about as good with the glasses as it does without (except, you know, the whole 3D thing is way neater). A wide viewing angle lets you pick any seat, so you can enjoy the show from the comfort of your recliner instead of just the middle seat of the couch. The battery lasts about 100 hours, so you can watch about 50 movies before you need to replace them, and an auto-standby saves juice when they're not in use. Oh, and unlike some pairs, these 3D glasses fit comfortably over corrective lenses. And while you might not want to wear them when you're out running errands, these glasses are plenty stylish for watching movies with families and friends. Still not quite convinced? Remember that with Sony's 3D setups, not only can you play the latest 3D Blu-ray movies and shows, you can upconvert any standard content from 2D to artificial 3D. ANY 2D content. Yes, even that Star Wars VHS you still play every once a while can be viewed in 3D. It's not quite the same as the genuine Full HD 3D on some of today's new Blu-ray releases, but the depth effects will make all your favorite shows look cooler than ever before. SO worth wearing the glasses.

Compatible models

These glasses will currently work with the following televisions: KDL-40HX800, KDL-46HX800, KDL-55HX800, XBR-52LX900, XBR-60LX900, XBR-46HX909, and XBR-52HX909. The LX900 models have a built-in transmitter and include two pairs of glasses, but the HX800 and HX909 models require a TMR-BR100 3D Sync Transmitter. It is compatible with BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 Blu-ray players using an HDMI v1.4 cable, or PlayStation3 Slim models using HDMI v1.3.
