Sanus constructed the BF24B II speaker stands from the same material that many of the world's finest speakers are made from. Medium density fibercore (MDF) provides superior strength and immunity from resonance. That's what makes MDF excellent for acoustics. It's not only strong, it's also a good dense material that has the added advantage of radically reducing vibrations. You want the sound coming from your speakers, not traveling through your speaker stands and into the floor (even if you are feuding with your downstairs neighbors). Floor spikes further reduce resonance and add stability in carpeting. Sanus' special triangular isolation pads are placed on the top plate to help protect your speaker's finish and provide additional acoustic isolation.
