Something wild this way comes
Over the past 12 months, something big's been brewing in the AV industry. Some would describe that something as "wicked cool", some would call it "awesome", but you probably know it as 3D. And this is no gimmicky, red-and-blue-paper-glasses 3D either. Thanks to Blu-ray discs and advanced tech, you can now get legit 3D video in the comfort of your living room. If you want a full, easy-to-understand explanation of how 3D works and how the new 3D is different from the 3D of yesteryear, check out our "Articles" section (found at the bottom of the page). Tech talk aside, what you really need to know is that now you can catch a lot of your favorite new flicks in the most lifelike presentation, ever. Between new releases and classics being remastered, new 3D shows come out almost daily! Here to help you make full use of this new technology is the BDV-E570 Blu-ray theater system. It offers full support of 3D Blu-ray discs, so all you need to get the full benefits of 3D technology is a 3D-capable TV, your favorite 3D movie, and active-shutter glasses and you're good to go.
Two-for-one and then some
One of the biggest hurdles to the mass adoption of 3D is the cost. As with any new technology, being the first one on your block to equip your home with a 3D set-up can set you back a bit more than opting for the same components without 3D. Well, usually, anyway. This Sony set-up is an exception to the rule. With most 3D set-ups, you'd want to buy both a 3D Blu-ray player AND a 3D receiver, each of which cost a couple hundred smackers on average. Then, you'd either need to look for a speaker set-up or listen on small TV speakers. With the BDV-E570, though, you get a Blu-ray/receiver combo unit with a 5.1-channel speaker set-up all for under 600 bucks. Compared to purchasing separately, you can easily save several hundred dollars. Pretty great, no? And of course, it's not just 3D Blu-rays you can enjoy with this system. 2D Blu-ray discs run flawlessly, and so do CDs or DVDs. Plus, with upconversion, your DVD collection will look better than ever. All told, this Sony system is one heckuva deal.
Get with the times
Hold up a minute. This is 2010. It's not like physical discs are your only media source. What about Netflix or Amazon Video on Demand instant streaming, or Pandora or Slacker radio? What if you want to watch "Charlie Bit My Finger" another dozen times on YouTube? Considering how much of your media comes from the internet, investing in a disc-only player seems like an awful waste. Lucky for you, the BDV-E570 is a lot more than "just a disc player". With BRAVIA Internet Video, it affords you access to a wealth of the web's most watched — and listened to — sources. You may never have to leave your coach again. Oh, but wait — the last thing you want to do is have an ethernet cable running across your living room, waiting to be tripped on. Wireless is definitely the way to go. But before you go scurrying back to your PC screen, listen to this: Sony built the BDV-E570 Blu-ray unit with WiFi access. In other words, you can hook up to your home network and start enjoying web content within minutes. And, just in case the billions of hours of web content doesn't quench your craving, there's a USB input so you can easily connect a camera, flash drive, MP3 player, or other USB device and play the content from it. The BDV-E570 ensures you can easily get all your media in one place.
But wait! There's more!
Content providers aren't the only benefit of being connected to the world wide web. Your wireless (or wired) connection also lets you access Gracenote metadata service, so you can get in-depth info about the show you're watching, including the actors and actresses. Likewise, if you've got a disc playing, you can quickly search select BRAVIA Internet Video partners for entertainment or info related to what you're watching. Plus, since Sony is a member of the Digital Living Network Alliance, you can connect with any other DLNA-compliant devices in your home to stream photos, music, or video to your home theater set-up. Easy. As. Pie.

The speaker directions were easy to follow and the system was up and ready in about 20 minutes. I did have a bit of difficulty understanding how to make the tv sound come through, but figured it out with out much problem.
For the price, the system is nice. The speakers do function well and the receiver offers a variety of options including radio, youtube, and Blue ray. The downside is the speakers may only be used with this specific player and would be of no use if I wanted to change my player to a Play Station 3.
It syncs well with the Sony tv allowing one controller to turn on and off both devices as well as control the sound. The cable contol needs to be used for station surfing.

I ordered my system on Tuesday and had it by Friday and working that night. Easy set up, mostly Automatic you need to upgrade the firmware for 3-D but just burn one or have Sony send you one and its easy as pie. Very happy with the savings, for the price or a Blu-Ray I got the whole System. Pushing out 1000 Watts It fills the room with sound of a System costing twice that. If you choose this product you will be happy. I hooked it up to my Mitts WD-65C9 TV and watching 3-D is undiscribable and the Home Theater tops off the experience.
This system is the best I've ever had. (July 29, 2010)
