I recently purchased this unit from Vanns and installed it yesterday.
Its a heavy duty item-weighs around 115# and seems to be well made. I also have a Sanus wall mount for my 55 LED TV and its heavy and strong as well.
I had a few pieces that were cosmetically damaged in the box but once the unit is assembled, they won't be seen, so its not that big of a deal to me.
The instructions have you assemble the unit on the wall-although I assembled the main unit on the ground, put it on the wall brackets and then installed the shelves. It took just over an hour to remove it from the packaging and install everything.
The middle channel is purely for cable management and is large enough for all of my power cables, speaker wires and HDMI cables with room to spare. Nice design.
The shelves are large enough for two components per shelf and they're nice and deep-my Denon AVR-991 fits with room to spare. The shelf brackets flex a little but theyre nice and firmly planted once they're installed per the instructions.
Overall, its a nice unit, well designed and built.

The VF5023 is a very solid wall mounted shelving system. It has lots of room for all of my componets. It is attractive looking, goes well with my wall mounted flat panel t.v. and gets rid of my floor stand and unsightly tangle of wire, which frees up more floor space and makes it easier to keep the area clean. Installatioin was fairly easy if you are handy with tools. The instruction manual is mostly pictures and more written descriptions would have been helpful.

During installation it was found to have a broken shelf.
The positive aspect of this was that the glass is tempered making it relatively safe to clean up.
When fully operational and in use it is very attractive and safe.
The recommendation from the salesman was a good one.
His name is Dustin Texley.
As it stands today April 13, 2011 I am waiting for a replacement shelf for the broken one.
