SmartDispense™ saves you time

How cool would it be if you never had to add detergent to your loads of laundry? Well, that technology is a long way off, but in the meantime, we're closer than ever to achieving this feat. With GE's new SmartDispense technology, you can go half a year without having to add any soap to your washing machine. How does it work, exactly? Well, first, you need a a SmartDispense pedestal (sold separately). The pedestal that is designed to accompany your new GE Profile WPDH8900JMV is the SPBD880J. This adaptive pedestal fits and matches your washer perfectly. Inside, there are three large jugs, two to hold laundry detergent, and one for fabric softener. These containers hook up to your washer using the included hoses. Installed correctly, your washer will automatically pull the detergent and softener it needs from the SmartDispense pedestal.

H2ition wash system battles stains, too

Speaking of futuristic features, the H2ition wash system is beyond cool. It actually senses the size of your laundry load, then adds the exact amount of water at the right temperature to save energy and water. Your clothes — and your energy bill — get optimal attention. What about stains? Let's say you spill coffee on your favorite pair of slacks. All you have to do is bring your pants to your new washing machine and press Stain Inspector on the controls. From there, it will bring up a menu on the display screen asking what type of stain you have, and what type of fabric and color your slacks are. After you've selected the correct options, it will bring up a screen telling you exactly how it intends to treat your precious pleats. You can choose to adjust the settings if you'd like, or you can just let the WPDH8900JMV work its magic. After all, it is preprogrammed to know how best to take care of over 40 different common stains from grass to grease on many different materials.

Steam your clothes clean

Steam power may seem like a long-bygone technology, but in fact, it's cutting edge in the world of laundry machines. The GE WPDH8900JMV features SteamRefresh and Steam Assist, meaning it uses the power of real steam to help clean your clothes. The advantages of using steam are many. The gentle lifting power of steam can help remove even some of the toughest stains without damaging the clothes. Steam can also be used to refresh clothes that were lightly worn, and not really dirty, or slightly wrinkled garments. Steam can also be used as a more gentle means of washing your delicates. CleanSpeak communication

Did you know your washer can communicate with your dryer? Don't worry, though, their plans are far from nefarious. It's just GE's CleanSpeak communication system. This allows you to connect a serial cable between your washer and dryer, at which point your washer will tell the dryer presets what to use to give you better clothes care, increased time savings, and greater convenience. Appliances don't get any smarter than that!

Gold medal performance with a 1300 spin rating

At its maximum 1300 rotations per minute, the WPDH8900JMV outspins most of the closest current competitors in its size class by 100 RPMs! You can figure this out to estimate that at maximum spin speed, the outside of the washer drum is spinning more than 150 miles per hour. Now that's fast! This leads to shorter times in the washer, but more water is also pulled from the clothes by centrifugal force, so your wash cycle ends with dryer clothes, leading to less time in the dryer, too.
