The DAVLF1H Platinum DVD Dream System consists of a single-disc DVD player/receiver, front and rear, left and right, floor-standing speakers (four total), a center channel speaker, and a powered subwoofer. You get a total system power of 600 watts. This system plays DVDs and CDs, including your own DVD-/+R/RW and CD-R/RW discs, and also the latest Super Audio Compact Discs (SACDs), for the ultimate in stereo and multichannel sound quality. There's an HDMI output for all-digital, uncompressed, single-cable signal delivery to your HDTV; as well as component, S-Video, and composite connections. How 'Bout A DIAT?
Got too many wires? The DIAT(Digital Infrared Audio Transmission) system included with the DAVLF1H can help by enabling wireless transmission of audio signals from the front to the rear of a room. Just think: no more wires running from the receiver across your living room floor to the back of the room! The rear speakers can be placed up to 33 feet away from the IR transmitter that gets its power and audio signals from the amplifier that's housed in the subwoofer. The left rear speakers has an IR receiver in its grill, and this speaker must be plugged into an AC outlet for power. The right rear speaker gets its power and audio signal from the left speaker via a cable. If your room configuration or furnishings are such that the IR transmitter and receiver can't see each other (remember, infrared transmissions are line-of-sight), there's even an auxiliary IR repeater to solve the problem. DIAT was developed by Sony to transmit audio signals of the most advanced high-bandwidth media (such as DVD, HDTV, and SACD) using infrared light. Unlike conventional wireless transmission systems based on radio frequencies, DIAT's signals are not pre-compressed, and the original signal integrity is maintained without distortion, even in the presence of noise and radio interference. Wireless never sounded this good.
Sounds Like The Movie Theater
Sony has included Dolby Digital/Pro Logic II, DTS, and Digital Cinema Sound decoding/processing in this system so you have surround sound covered. Dolby Digital and DTS decoding will surround you with 5.1 separate channels of digital sound for sound quality that analog systems can't match. You are enveloped with completely separate channels for left, center, right, left surround, right surround, and the special .1 channel just for bass. Suddenly, movies have the same excitement and impact as in the theater. Bass is stronger and closer to the director's original intent. DTS improves 360-degree localization and spatial expression. The DAVLF1H also incorporates Dolby Pro Logic II decoding, which expands upon 2- to 4-channel sound formats, transforming them into pseudo six-channel surround sound. So, you'll be ready to hear the best from hundreds of VHS Hi-Fi movie releases, plus a wide range of digital satellite programs, TV sports, drama, and movie broadcasts. Your stereo music will take on a whole new sound thanks to Dolby Pro Logic II processing. For easy setup in any room, there's Enhanced Auto Calibration with stereo microphone included. And your MP3/WMA files will sound even better thanks to the Portable Audio Enchancer (with front audio input).
Super SACD Sound
SACDs are the realization of an audiophile's dream: all the precision of digital reproduction, combined with the warmth and ambiance of analog sound. The secret is Direct Stream Digital (DSD) encoding. Its one-bit/2.8224 MHz sampling is the highest quality sound source available today. DSD one-bit encoding strips away entire classes of distortion that have always characterized the conventional PCM digital sound format used for traditional CDs.
