Maybe we're going out on a bit of a limb here, but it seems to us safe to say that if the GSHS9NGYSS side-by-side refrigerator from GE weren't so well equipped with storage features, it would likely qualify as a "walk-in cooler'. We're serious . . . while the capacity offered by most modern side-by-side refrigerators tops out at around 26 cu. ft, the GSHS9NGYSS's 29.1 cu. ft. total storage capacity delivers room a-plenty for all your fresh and frozen foods, as well as leftovers, tomorrow's sack lunches, snacks, and more. Neatly and functionally dividing all that space up, the 17.97 cu. ft. refrigerator compartment sports four shelves, four door bins, three storage bins, and a beverage rack, while the 11.12 cu. ft. freezer offers one basket, four shelves, and three door bins.
Rapid refreshment
Any time of year is great for getting people together. Whether it's a summer-sunshine-inspired backyard get-together or one of winter's holiday events, you can end up hosting a fairly large number of friends and family. Now, while the ice-and-water dispenser on you old fridge provided enough ice and water for your household, when it came to serving big groups, its performance fell short. First, a Quick Ice setting uses a fan located above the ice tray to blow freezer air over the cubes, accelerating the freezing process for up to 48 consecutive hours. Second, the UltraFlow64 system is capable of dispensing up to 64 oz of chilled, filtered water per minute. Combined, Quick Ice and UltraFlow64 keep you and your guests refreshed. Oh, and because the GSHS9NGYSS's ice-and-water dispenser is integrated into the freezer door's external panel, you have quick, convenient access to clean, crisp ice and water.

Okay, in all likelihood, you weren't born in a barn. But sometimes you do get so busy orchestrating a meal in the kitchen that you end up opening and closing the refrigerator door multiple times. This setting activates the compressor and fans at high speed, rapidly dropping the temperature to 33° for improved temperature control. Speaking of temperature control, the GSHS9NGYSS uses five internal sensors to monitor and adjust temperature levels, ensuring precise temperature control.
Super storage features
While we've already discussed the GSHS9NGYSS's repertoire of internal storage features, a few merit further exploration. First, a 3-Stack drawer system in the refrigerator compartment combines a snack drawer, a sealed drawer, and an adjustable-humidity drawer that can be used for optimal, custom produce storage. Second, three Spill Proof refrigerator shelves are specifically designed to contain minor spills, minimizing messes and simplifying cleanup. Finally, an Integrated Ice system in the freezer combines the ice bucket and icemaker into a single unit, freeing up valuable storage space on the door. Further, the Integrated Ice system offers a tilt-down feature for quick access to cubed ice.
