They say you get what you pay for and due to our age this will likely be our last washer purchase so we were more concerned with quality than cost. I hadnt heard of the Miele brand---but all the information I could find on it was positive. So we took the plunge--- We knew that Miele was German made---and we think German engineering is among the worlds best. This washer and their dryers are designed to be placed with the washer on the right--because the doors open from the inside outward left to right on the washer and right to left on the dryer. This turned out not to be a problem because our setup had the drain and water supply centrally located between the washer and dryer and the hoses and cables supplied with the units were long enough to reach. The only modification that we found necessary was to relocate the dryer vent. At first we just installed a longer vent tube and hooked it to the existing vent entrance at the wall but the dryer seemed noisy. We then cut a new vent outlet though the wall directly hehind the dryer and walla the dryer is now quiet as a mouse. We have used the washer dryer combo now for only a week but are very pleased---our clothes come out cleaner than ever before and because the washer spin is so fast and efficient there is very little dry time needed . The washer operates silent as a ghost and handles large comforters or bedding with ease. The honeycome design of the tumbler really works to minimize damage to our clothes and everything comes out fresh and clean. We paid a premium as compared to other brands but feel that we got more than our moneys worth
