Being lost is never fun. It wastes time, and it's a surefire way to get flustered and frustrated. Well, except for Where's Waldo?, that's a pretty good time. But, you're not reading illustrated children's books; you're living life on the go. Travel with a GPS that can keep pace. Simply touch the color screen, enter a destination, and the nüvi takes you there with turn-by-turn directions. Not only that, this GPS accepts custom points of interest, POIs, such as school zones or grocery stores. Proximity alerts signal you of nearby POIs. So, you'll remember to pick up some milk and slow down by the elementary school when you're on your route. With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you'll always know your location and, if need be, the closest hospital, police or gas station. Navigation is just the beginning. The nüvi 205 includes many travel tools, including JPEG viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. This GPS can find anything. Well, maybe not Waldo.

I recently bought a refurbished NUMI 205 and am very satisfied with the packaging it came in. The way the box was taped and handled assured me that the utmost care was taken in packing and sending my new to me NUMI. While I dont yet have the money to purchase any maps for my new to me NUMI, I am completely confident that my NUMI will work as promised! How can it not? The peel off decal that comes pre-installed was so vibrant and full of detail that I am extremely excited to save for the real thing. BTW, I purchased this new to me NUMI because it was only $30. Im filling out this review because I was promised to be entered in a contest to win a 46 flatscreen.

I thought the Garmin GPS would have some maps in the system. The GPS did not include any maps. To puchase the maps from Garmin was around $80.00. I could purchase the New GPS system new with lifetime maps for a few dollars more. I did return the GPS to you. Thank you.

We used the refurbished NUVI 205 gps unit on our scenic trip from Portland, OR to Denver, CO. Super easy to use, set up and change on the fly. We traveled through many towns using the gps unit for finding hotels, restaurants, fuel stations, grocery and local attractions. It helps with going into a new town and finding what you need easily with confidence and no frustration. We used to just stay close to the interstate and settle for what was there for fear of getting lost and adding useless time and miles on our trip. Although to get the refurbished unit working. It took some research and tech support to get there. The refurbished units DO NOT COME WITH MAPS. I didnt not read that in the description, since I was so excited to get a great deal on a gps unit for our upcoming trip for my wife and her new car. When you get the gps unit from Vanns, you will first have to contact Garvin customer service phoneemail and show proof of purchase. They will easily reset the registration for the unit for you. Mine was originally set up for AustraliaNew Zealand. Then I had to purchase a 2 gig MicroSD card since I didnt have one available. You can find these almost anywhere and usually on sale. This is needed to fit the downloaded maps onto the gps unit. Next you will have to purchase and download North American Maps for your unit from Garvin website. I accidentally purchased the lifetime map updates from Amazon before the maps the gps unit needed from Garvin not really needing the lifetime updates for my occasional cross country trips, which is the wrong order, and now entering the high end price of a super nice gps unit. You will not need these for this unit, but if you think you do, then this is not the gps unit for you and you are already looking at newer and fancier gps units. Hopefully from my mistakes you can still get a great gps unit for the beginner at a fair and reasonable price.

I know and like Garmin products. We have another refurb Garmin we bought elswhere. It works great especially after the free update from the Garmin website. Vanns sent me a European model with no US nav capabilities. Was verified by Garmin. I returned and am awaiting a refund. A real bummer....

I purchased one of these Nuvi 205 without map data. Garmin will not let you add maps to these units without paying an extra $78 for a DVD to install from. Then if you want to add lifetime updates, that is an extra $80. These are no deal since you can buy new with Lifetime Map Update for less. I returned mine as Garmin told me how difficult they are to use.

I recently bought a Garmin Nuvi 205. I took it out of the box and I was very pleased with the size of the screen. The device was very compact and the screen to my surprise was very bright and the software was very easy to handle. I used the first time it to travel from Brooklyn NY to Syosset in Long Island and I must say that the device took me to my destination without any glitch. It is very accurate and I am very satisfied of my purchase.
