Make travel easier
Traveling should be about enjoying the scenery, the food, the local customs, the people, and the history. It should not be about struggling to find your exit, the right hotel, or the restaurant where you have dinner reservations. Let Garmin Nuvi 205W make your travel experience easier by elminiating the, "What did you say that address was?" hassle. The display itself, a 4.3" widescreen, is easily readable, even in direct sunlight. The turn-by-turn voice directions adds one more layer of ease. Preloaded with City Navigator NT map data for either the contiguous US, Canada, or one European region or country, the 205W offers an expansive selection of maps and points of interest. The slim design means you can fit this GPS unit in your coat pocket or purse, so even if you're trekking through town on foot, you'll have the reassurance of a digital navigator.
The map you don't have to fold
Remember way back when part of learning how to read a map included learning how to fold it properly? We're guessing there's a big contingent breathing a sigh of relief that they don't have to wrestle with a three foot by three foot piece of paper in order to get an idea of where they're going. The Garmin Nuvi 205W displays all the maps you need digitally. And with touchscreen functionality, you just touch the color screen to enter your destination, and Nuvi takes you there with turn-by-turn voice directions, 2-D or 3-D maps, and smooth map redraw rates as you navigate. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. You can also add your own points of interest, like school zones and safety cameras. You can even set a proximity alert to warn you of upcoming POIs. With HotFix satellite prediction, Nuvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.
More than a map
Navigating with the Nuvi 205W is just the beginning. Travel tools like a JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, and calculator mean you'll never be left in a lurch or lost in the English vs. metric system translation. With photo navigation, you can download pictures from Garmin Connect Photos and navigate to them. The 205W is compatible with optional enhanced MSN Direct content (subscription and receiver required). With the free Garmin Garage, you can download animated vehicles that show your location on the map. It also comes with Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature. Enhance your travel experience with optional plug-in microSD cards such as Garmin Travel Guides for detailed data on attractions.
Included with purchase
Nuvi 205W, Preloaded City Navigator™ NT data for the lower 48 states, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico (no Alaska or Canada detail) or one European region or country (click version tab to view all), vehicle suction cup mount, vehicle power cable, dashboard disc, quick start manual

Overall this is a good product, but sometimes it does not give the correct directions. One of the best functions is the speedometer. It knows the correct speed limits of area you are in. Sometimes you miss a speed sign so this feature is nice. Im not sure if there are more updates that would correct the direction giving.

This is the first GPS I have purchased in a few years. I got it for my girlfriend who is not very good with technology. I found it very easy to perform the setup, though the first 3 or 4 times we used it it always defaulted to being in Michigan, you would think it would remember the last location it was on at. It was a good price even considering it was refurbished though it looks new. The only issue i have with the unit is that the traffic feature does not seem to work well. We live in LA and on several occasions it has routed us into worse traffic, but all in all not a bad unit. My girlfriend especially likes the feature for locating resturants based on type of cuisine as her last GPS from several years ago did not contain this feature.

Im enjoying my new Garmin. It has saved me time trying to find places. Its easy to use. Love how it even gives you the time it should take to your destination as well as the miles you will be travelling. The price was right! This is my first GPS. I waited to purchase one as I wanted directions to a new subdivision in Greenville and they were not on any maps at that time.
I read reviews on this Garmin and there were many over 1700, and almost gave positive feedback.

I already own the Garmin Nuvi 205 3x5. I was in the market again to buy one for our daughter at Christmas time.Checked all the big names near and far,and Vanns had the best deal on the same model I have plus it was the wide model for easier reading.
Garmin has the best, most detailed maps and mapping service. They have been, and continue to leaders in Marine and Aeronautical navigation.Logical, intuitve to use,I was using it in such a short time I felt like I had owned it forever. You can drill down into the instructions and get more involved with trip planning, mileage tracking, etc. But I mainly use it make sure I get to where I need to go.Text to voice is the only way to go.While driving just take direction from the voice and keep your eyes on the road.It will give you advance notice for when to turn, and if you miss the turn it will continue to guide you back to your destination, awesome! It has tens of thousands of points of interests such as police, fire, restaurnts, stores, gas stations, parks, museums, etc, etc. Another cool feature is you can set it for pedestrian or bycycle mode. Take it downtown with you and find all the cool restauants within walking distances for example. If you dont already have in-dash navagation, that would set you back several hundred dollars, The garmin Nuvi 205w is just as good and at less than 110 the cost!
