Slim down. Take it with you.
Twenty-five percent slimmer than other nüvis, the 1200 and 1300-series are ideal traveling companions. nüvi 1250 easily fits in your pocket or purse, and its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot. Take advantage of the 1250's new Public Transit mode by downloading optional CityXplorer™ content (coming soon) for select cities to navigate via subways, trams, buses, and more.
Get turn-by-turn directions
nüvi 1250's intuitive interface greets you with two simple questions: "Where To?" and "View Map." Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. It comes preloaded with detailed City Navigator® NT street maps, nearly 6 million points of interest (POIs), 2-D or 3-D maps and the speed limit for most major roads. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. With the 1250's enhanced user interface, you can slide your finger to conveniently scroll between screens. You can also upload custom points of interest (POIs). And with HotFix™ satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.
Avoid traffic backups with MSN Direct
With dynamic content from MSN Direct, you can avoid traffic backups when you travel with your compatible Garmin device. MSN Direct broadcasts traffic data to your GPS navigator so you can find the best route through traffic, check traffic flow, and receive accident warnings.
ecoRoute and speed limit indicator save you money
Efficient routes are about more than saving time. They save you gas money, too. The 1250's ecoRoute feature calculates the most fuel-efficient route so you get there with gas to spare. While you're zooming to your destination, save money by avoiding speed tickets thanks to your 1250's speed limit indicator. This nifty feature lets you know what the speed limit is on most major roads.
Travel tools galore
Now for the travel goodies. The 1250 includes many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator, and more. With photo navigation, you can download pictures from Garmin Connect™ Photos and navigate to them. It's also compatible with lifetime traffic alerts or MSN® Direct (receiver purchase required for either option). With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you always know your location. Simply tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations, and fuel stations. The 1250 features Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with the free Garmin Garage where you can download custom custom voices and vehicles. Enhance your travel experience with optional plug-in microSD™ cards.

Overall I am very pleased with this product. It is simple to use. It connects to the satellite quickly. It easily locates nearby restaurants and gas stations. I cannot imagine going on a trip without it now!
I was disappointed that it did not come with a detailed instruction manual, only a quick start guide. Downloading one from the internet is inconvenient. Also, it did not come with a usb cord to connect it to the computer, which is necessary to update the map and register the product.
However, you will not be disappointed in this gps! The product itself is outstanding. And I cannot say enough about Vanns customer service. I would not hesitate to order from them in the future.

It freezes up quite often. It is compact, volume output great, although a little distorted.
Unfortunately I did not know, that Garmin has reduced a lot the details shown on maps, and I do not like it at all, as well as many other people who bought new Nuvis, compare with the maps before the change.
choosing and homedepot address with my nuvi 650 tells me correctly that it is on the right, however the 1350 tells me incorrectly it is on the left. It happened with other addresses too.
The price I paid is great, Vanns service excellent, no complaints.

the product, and my order status.

The many things that I like about this product are
It not only gives you the direction of the turn you are about to make but it gives the direction of the following turn.
If you diviate even the slightest from your route it will automatically and quickly recompute your route.
The product is so user friendly that the very short Quick Start Manual is more than enough.
I can now concentrate on my driving and not worry about looking for street names, signs or address numbers.
The voice is clear and loud enough for me even with my hearing loss.
Anyone would benefit from this easy to use and cost effective product.

This is my third Nuvi and, as usual, I wasnt disappointed. If you have used a GPS in the past, then this Nuvi 1250 will extremely easy to use. I did quite a bit of online and in-store research, and this had everything I needed text-to-speech, turn-by-turn, car mounting hardware, SD-card slot and a built-in antenna. Vanns also had the best price from any online source as well as FREE shipping, not to mention it arrived in two days! Definitely a great buy!

it should have more selection of voices than two American English speakers.

This is the second navigation system I have owned, and I am much happier with the Garmin than I was with my previous system. The Garmin is less bulky, yet has a larger screen, which makes it easier to view while driving.
The other system I owned chronically could not find a signal, and it would take the passenger turning the system off and on, for several mintues, before it could find one. The Garmin has not has that problem at all. There have been times where it loses signal when I am near a rock mountain, but it picks it right back up after a few blocks.
I am looking forward to trying it out on longer road-trips, but in town, it is working out great.

This GPS was fantastic. Weve learned to program it fairly easy and it is extremely accurate for the direction-challenged. We really appreciate the makers of this product for programming it to call street names...it really makes a difference than saying turn right, turn left.

I purchased two of these guys due to the ease of use and reliability of a previous Garmin I own. I gave one as a Christmas gift to my wife and one to my son in Europe only to find that this model only has the map where you purchased it loaded... so he opens his NUVI 1250 and there is not a European map to choose - and the European map actually costs more than the unit does... know anyone looking for a NUVI 1250?
Oh yeah, I guess I should say that it is an excellent product if it has the map your expecting.
