DarkChip3--Prepare To Be Impressed

Sharp's XVZ20000 1080p full high definition DLP (Digital Light Processor) front projector represents the pinnacle in home theater. One key to this projector's stellar performance is the 0.95" DarkChip3 1920 x 1080 technology from Texas Instruments. Sounding more like a science fiction title, this array of over two million fluttering micromirrors, each attached to an electronically driven hinge that controls the amount of colored light that is reflected from the mirror, directs the image to the projection lens and then onto the sceen. The resulting pictures are clear, crisp, and amazingly lifelike. This technology produces images that are second-to-none and will impress family members and business prospects alike.

What It Takes To Get The Best Picture

The incredible 12000:1 contrast ratio this projector delivers in high contrast mode enhances the XVZ20000's ability to discern fine, detailed differences between the darkest and lightest colors and provides superior black level reproduction for unmatched depth of field. A powerful 220-watt SHP lamp projects 1000 ANSI lumens through the precise Minolta optics. The seven segment, 5x-speed neutral density color wheel achieves flicker-free, high grade images and accurate color reproduction. And the powered iris switchover function instantly changes multiple brightness and contrast settings with the touch of a button, allowing for the greatest flexibility in varying home theater environments.

All 1080p, All The Time

Sharp's proprietary, third generation Computer Video & Integrated Composer (CV-IC System III) advanced video scaler circuitry upconverts standard definition signals to the native 1080p HD resolution of the projector (1920 x 1080). It delivers advanced I/P conversion and enhanced 3-2 pulldown to achieve high resolution of film-based content. You also get high resolution upscaling and intelligent compression, along with dynamic gamma compression. All of which means you'll get the best picture from any source you hook up to this impressive high definition projector.

Getting Connected

This projector does a spectacular job making the most of any signal you send through it. But how do these signals reach the projector? Well, there are two HDMI inputs for connection of digital devices, a DVI-I input with HDCP for compatibility with new generation HD set-top boxes as well as two component video and one each S-Video and composite video inputs that let you connect popular video sources like DVD players and VCRs. You can connect your PC or laptop via the computer RGB connection, and the RS-232C serial port lets you attach many of the new control devices now on the market. The wired remote control gets its own connection for sure operation.

Switchable screen modes allow you to alternate between 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. You can view programs in the conventional television format, or you can choose the widescreen variation to watch movies as their directors intended. Whatever viewing dimension you choose, you're guaranteed a picture with exceptional clarity. The optical lens shift function allows for one full screen height of lens shift adjustment, making for easy set up.
