I waited a long time before deciding to buy a large screen HDTV.
I first read about the original TI chip back in the mid 80s and have been keeping up with that technology ever since.
Until now a big issue to me was the color wheel
incorporated in the DLP sets. Elimination of the wheel and the long lasting I hope! LED illumination pushed me over the edge.
The tv worked fine when received and after setting a few picture controls the color fidelity
and resolution is fantastic on HDTV signals.The SD pictures are quite good. The built in speakers are very acceptable.
This set has many menu functions for picture and sound and settings are unique to inputs. Software can be upgraded with downloaded data via a memory stick. So far this set has exceeded my expectations.

Ive bought PCs and lots of small stuff on the internet before but buying a TV made me nervous. Well that was for no reason. I saved $700, including the tax, on my $2,500 purchase and it arrived in 3 days.
The delivery was on schedule and the driver was most helpful.
Guess I wont have to look very far when I decide where to buy in the future. Highly recommended!
As for the TV itself, there is nothing comparable - its awesome. You can find that information anywhere. Beats everything else. |

This review is for your average Joe out there that just wants a good deal on a good TV that is not going to break down.
After losing my final bout with an RCA DLP television, I knew it was time for a change.
I wanted a TV that looked great, but wouldnt cost as much in maintenance as a descent size TV set once a year. I wanted the WOW factor of todays HD programming with the knowledge that what I am buying today, will still be good enough to hang with technology 5 years from now.
Let me tell you this TV is awesome! It handles everything from a straight cable hookup, to HD video gaming, to my Cable DVR. Everything you throw at this thing looks amazing.
I spent a little time tweaking the colors set the picture to movie mode for better color, and getting to know some of the features, but all in all, this TV is ready to rock right out of the box.
The sheer brightness that the LED DLP provides blows traditional DLP out of the water. What kills me the most is that it does it with far less power. In harmony with how vivid the colors are on this TV is how true the black tones are. It seems to have this ability to make everything on the screen seem to pop and just seem so life-like.
I have never purchased a Samsung before, but you better believe I will again the next time. You will not go wrong with this purchase! |

| This t.v. is only super awesome!!!!! This tv has the best picture that i have ever seen in a rear projection and some LCDs and i purchased from Vanns because of the great deal and reputation. What won me over about the tv was the LED light engine which means no more having to worry bout bulbs going out and also no more color wheel worry about. After recieving and installing the tv the picture is even better than in the retail stores and there are a surplus of adjustments that can be made to the picture to get it the way you like it but it will not confuse you. I had a marantz for about 6yrs which retailed for about $8,999 and the samsung picture blows that one away with clarity, brightness and crispness of picture. It has 3 HDMI inputs, an optical audio and 2 component inputs which also increase the value of the set. A MUST HAVE!! |

| This is the second Samsung TV along with other items I have bought from Vanns. The TV looks better than I expected and the brightness of the LED lights really helps in a sun lit room, the picture is very clear and the colors are right on and bright. I replaced another sammy 61 with this one and there is a world of difference between the two. Would also like the thank the sales rep Ronnie for all his hard work in getting it to me before Christmas, I did not think they could do it but he did. I also need to thank Diane for the rush shipping. Vanns is TOPS in customer service and price. Im all the way down in Mississippi but I will always buy from Vanns when possible. |

Setup is simple and the picture color and quality are superb, I couldnt be happier. Plenty of hook-up options for your home theatre system. Unlike some plasmas and LCD TVs, the picture comes on very quickly and changing channels is quick as well. With the LED lights you dont have to worry about changing the bulb like other DLPs and they should last the life of your TV.
You may think a TV this large is too big for you home, but if you can fit it, I would get it. I have the TV setup in a room thats not very large, but it is the main TV room and we sit at about 10 from the set and love it. At first we were thinking, oh my god, what have we done, but we are very happy with our choice. It really is a home theatre experience, well, with our surround system system of course. The TV is fantastic.
Vanns was great and I would order from them again without hesitation. They beat competitors on price and shipping together and thats important. . I think my next purchase is the Samsung BD-UP5000 Universal disc player HD-DVD and Blue-Ray.

Pros- low $$$ per square inch, best LED driven DLP picture. Light weight [~70 lbs.]
Very Minor Cons- picture mode [different brightness and contrasts for varying ambient light conditions] is not automatic, remote has only a few lighted buttons and no locater to help find it when its missing.
I concur with every positive statement in the other reviews to date. Because of my relatively minor cons, Id probably give it a 4.5 for ease of use if I could, but it deserves a 5 more so than a 4. The screen is much brighter and viewable in a sunny room than even Samsungs HDTV buying guide indicates.
Visitors freak when I tell them how much Ive got in this purchase. Best of all, when I look at this Sundays post-Superbowl, post-Consumer Electronics Show, post-Christmas, sales ads nobody is going to touch the price this week either!!!! Anytime it looks like somebody is within a couple of hundred bucks on a 61 inch Samsung, it turns out that its the old non-LED model that they shouldnt even be selling anymore!
