Playing the numbers game — Auto Motion Plus 120Hz
Here's a little secret: television and film were not created equal. Film is shot at 24 frames per second. And just about every movie disc you can buy is encoded at that speed. But television programming runs at 30 frames per second, and most TVs conform to that standard. When you watch a DVD on your TV, fitting that 24-frame content onto a 30-frame screen isn't a seamless process. You can't divide 24 by 30 evenly so video engineers fill in the gaps by placing one frame on the screen three times and the next one after that two times, which can cause stutter and other visual artifacts. Alternatively, 120Hz image processing shows 120 frames per second, showing each film frame five times and each TV frame four times, allowing TVs to reproduce unconverted, evenly extrapolated 24 fps movie and 30 fps television programming. The LN55B650's Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz technology virtually eliminates any motion blur and creates smooth transitions between frames. The result is a clearer picture you have to see to believe.

After months and research of looking at multiple brands of televisions, Ive decieded to go with Samsung. Not only recommended by mosts associates of retailers but a clear difference when compared side by side. I mainly concentrated between Sony and Samsung. I went with samsung because I would have had to spend over $1000 more to get a similar picture with the Sony. Hand down, the Samsund LCD is absolutely the cleanest and crisp picture I have even seen on a tv. Even family members one who has a Samsung Plasma - PN58B860 model were amazed at how nice this picture is on this tv. Sound is also not bad for lcd tv. The only complaint I have is that the processor that works the widgets and internet tv options is pretty slow, making using the widgets a big pain. I dont know that Id use them that often even if the processor was fast. Overall, I am extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend this tv to anyone. You will not be dissappointed.

At first glance it was great. Has lots of imports to hook up everything. The remote is pretty easy to use. The anti-blur thing that it has doesnt work very well at all and I almost think it makes the picture worse when its on, Which we had read in other reviews prior to purchasing. The picture is quite amazing and Im sure if we upgraded from cable it would be even better. The connections and picture quality arent tainted by the TV itself theyre tainted by the cables, and cable quality.

I just got this tv a week ago. It has a beautiful quality picture, tons of adjustable settings for all types of viewing and viewers. This was a replacement for a Samsung DLP. It provides a high level of brightness for our light livingroom which was somewhat of a problem when viewing our DLP. A nice improvement. The tv itself is very good looking but somewhat top heavy. They provide a string attachment to attach the tv to the wall to keep it steady. A must use item if you have kids.
The sound is standard tv quality but we use a surround system so its not an issue.
The Automotion causes a soap opera tape look to viewing so be sure to go into picture settings, custom, and adjust the blur to 10 and the anti judder to 2 so you get a good pic without the tape effect.
I like the Movie Setting at night and sometimes during the day, in bright situations, Standard is OK. Play around with the setting till you get what you need for your lighting situation.
I have had four Samsung tvs, three LCDs and one DLP. I love Samsung tvs. And I bought two large tvs from Vanns. They are excellent in ordering, delivery and customer service. I recommend Samsung and Vanns to anyone looking for tvs.

This may not be the most detailed review but I had to say how blown away I am by this television. I had a 50 inch Samsung DLP which I thought had a great picture...and it did..but this TV is AMAZING! The defintion and just overall quality of the picture is incredible. It took a while to tweak the picture to my liking but once I did...well, again...WOW! In my room, the touch of color is barely noticeable..I was concerened it would be distracting, but its just that, a touch of color. Im pretty picky about things..I want em to blow me away..amaze me...and boy did this TV do the job! GREAT tv! btw...shipping was very good also...TV AND box were in great shape!

After much shopping and studying the specs and reviews on many different tvs, I purchased a new Samsung ln55b650. I narrowed my choices to Samsungs lcd tv and their new led tv. I couldnt tell a lot of difference watching the two tvs in the store so I even called a Vanns Sales Rep and asked for his opinion. After speaking with him my mind was made up and thats when I went with the 55 inch lcd. I couldnt be more pleased with my choice. The picture quality is even better than I hoped and after a few months of usage I have found no problems with the tv.
I love the way the tv updates its software via the internet, keeping things up and current in todays fast changing technology era is a great plus. I also really like the widgets that pop up when you push the internet button. Being able to stream movies, You Tube videos and music now with Pandora is a real plus as well. My PS3 Blu-Ray looks awesome as does HD content from my cable provider. This is one excellent tv and must be considered when looking for an lcd tv.

Bought this TV to replace my Mitsubishi 1080i Projection TV. It took me a little while to get used to the LCD after watching a CRT for so long, but the picture is spectacular. Got it just in time for the Bowl Games and Winter Olympics.
I bought this TV based on recommendations from several sites. I love the picture quality and the for the price I think this TV is a great value...you cant go wrong purchasing it. It looks incredible with blue ray, PS3, Directv HDMI DVR, and pictures on my Apple tv blow me away. I will qualify that by saying the picture is Great with all the processing garbage like AUTO MOTION PLUS OFF.
That said let me tell you the negatives 1 Samsung PIP is a joke. I was stunned to find out you can only use it for the built in tuner. I have two dish boxed I used on my other TV and planned to run them both through HDMI to be able to watch multiple games at once...that feature on this TV is garbage. Come on...my 2002 TV would allow you to watch any source on PIP...Samsung should be ashamed of themselves for doing this...I would be embarrassed if I made this product for that reason only. 2 This TV is not the most attractive. The touch of red is ugly...but in my situation it is not so bed because I have not light behind my TV. This hides it a bit. The shape of the bottom is also ugly...it looks like it has a chin. I have multiple Sharp Aquos TVs in my office and one in my bedroom and they are much more attractive. I am a perfectionist and a faily technical person and I can barely tell the difference in the picture of the Sharp and the Samsung...I think they are both great tvs. 3 I could use one more HDMI input...but most sets only have 4 like this one. 4 This one is another major disappointment...The optical out is only 2 channels except for the TV antenna input. 5 The menu is a bit difficult. 6 Auto Motion plus is a joke! It makes everything look weird. Great picture once I turned off all the processing.
SAMSUNG....WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU...YOU MAKE A GREAT SET WITH A BUNCH OF HALF A-- FUNCTIONS.
That said I would recommend this set to anyone...just keep the above in mind or you might be disappointed in some of the functions you might be expecting.
Oh yeah....and by the way...got a GREAT price at Vanns with free shipping! Vanns cant be beat...and I looked everywhere for over a month.

This is a beautiful television. Great picture and easy to use remote. Sound quality would be the only thing I would rate down for this TV, and that is when you turn up the volume. At low to normal volume the sound quality is adequate but as you turn it up the speakers get a little tinny sounding. I love the Medi@2.0 features and cant wait to see how that gets expanded.

I purchased this TV from Vanns before Xmas and it is absolutely awsome. I had never owned an HDTV prior to purchasing this Samsung and I wish I had done it much sooner. The picture and features on this TV are great. I even purchased a wall mount and the installation was very easy with this TV.
The buying experience fron Vanns was truly fantastic and their price was amazing. I paid $625 less for this TV from Vanns than what I would have paid for the exact same TV at a local well-known retail store in town. Shipping was very fast and FREE.

I researched this TV for several weeks and compared picture quality at several local stores. What convinced me to go with Samsung was the overall good consumer ratings as compared to many of the other brands. I also focused on the negative reviews when comparing TVs to find out what people didnt like. Most of the Samsung negative reviews were harmless when compared to some of the others.
When I started looking, I thought that I would buy a Sony but the negative reviews convinced me to stay away from that brand. After several weeks, I am very satisfied with my purchase. Everything was very smooth and I would definitely purchase through Vanns again.

I did my homework on this LCD television and decided this was the one I wanted to buy. I had a 10 percent discount to use at Best Buy and when I went to use the discount, they said that it could only be used on non-sale items. I gave them a chance to sell me this t.v., but they would not budge. I told them that they lost a sale and I left the store. I went online and was a little scared about buying a t.v. online, but when I found this t.v. on Vanns.com, I took my chance. Vanns.com had the best price on this t.v. Nobody even came close. When it was delivered to my house, it was in mint condition, brand new, and no problems when I turned it on. Vanns.com has earned my respect, and I will always look to them first before buying anything dealing with electronics. Thank You!

Had the TV for about 2 months now. Love the picture, and has wonderful colors. Did a bit of comparison shopping prior to purchasing, and this seemed to be one of the highest rated in my price range, and it has not disappointed. Lots of extra multimedia features, and very easy to setup.

Great tv at an unbeatable price. Beautiful picture! HD shows make it feel like your right on location for the filming. Awesome! Vanns did a great job in getting me the tv fast and with no hastles. Took just 4 days to ship and had the tv within a week after purchasing it! Would recommend this Samsung tv and Vanns.com to anybody interested in purchasing one!

Just purchased a Samsung LN55B650 and I am very happy with this television. I compared serveral different brands and read many reviews and after looking at the various televisions I was convinced that a Samsung would be the best buy. The hardest decision I had to make was the actual size to purchase. I have already recommended this product to several of my friends.

I Just received my Samsung LN55B650 and so far I am nothing but pleased. First of all I did not know what to expect with the red bezel around the tv, because all online photos show it more pronounced, but after getting it, it actually nicely accents the screen and is not obtrussive at all. The piano black border with clear glass edging also makes for attractive design. The picture itself is amazing, especially after upgrading from a 5 yr. old Mitsu. DLP that died. The color of picture is fantastic, with even a very concentrated black level, better than I expected. The 120 hz. is pretty good as well. With some blurring noticed and juddering, it takes some time in adjusting to as well as learning ways of tuning the tv. This TV allows you the luxury of adjusting the HZ effect to your liking which is a big plus for a TV in this price range. The network feature looks great as well, as I will be fooling with that soon! Only negative there is that the internet features are very slow in loading up.
I think they could have styled a better and more functional remote as well.
Overall I would recommend this TV to anyone. Samsung has a great reputation in this market and so far I am very pleased with my purchase from Vanns.com!
