Add a Touch of Color to your walls
When the first batch of Model T cars rolled off the Ford assembly line in 1908, the saying went, "You can have any color you want, as long as it's black." It seems manufacturers of flat panel televisions use the same philosophy in their production. Shop for a flat panel, and you'll find a sea of unrelenting black bezels. Samsung, however, has added a Touch of Color to some of their TVs, like the LN40B630. Touch of Color (ToC) is a manufacturing process that infuses a rich red hue into the solid bezel during production, eliminating the need for paints or plastic veneers. Playing the numbers game
Here's a little secret: television and film were not created equal. Film is shot at 24 frames per second. And just about every movie disc you can buy is encoded at that speed. But television programming runs at 30 frames per second, and most TVs conform to that standard. When you watch a DVD on your TV, fitting that 24-frame content onto a 30-frame screen isn't a seamless process. You can't divide 24 by 30 evenly so video engineers fill in the gaps by placing one frame on the screen three times and the next one after that two times, which can cause stutter and other visual artifacts. Alternatively, 120Hz image processing shows 120 frames per second, showing each film frame five times and each TV frame four times, allowing TVs to reproduce unconverted, evenly extrapolated 24 fps movie and 30 fps television programming. The LN40B630's Auto Motion Plus 120 Hz technology virtually eliminates any motion blur and creates smooth transitions between frames. The result is a clearer picture you have to see to believe.

Picture is only half of the high definition experience. Sound makes it complete. If you don't have the full surround sound setup, you can still get a rich sound from the LN40B630 with its SRS TruSurround XT™. TruSurround is a patented SRS technology that solves the problem of playing 5.1 multichannel content over two speakers. TruSurround delivers a compelling, virtual surround sound experience through any two-speaker playback system, including internal television speakers and headphones. It is fully compatible with all multichannel formats up to 5.1 channels.
Don't forget the cables!

Samsung Flat Panel Television LN-40B630
Just wanted to say again Samsung Rules!
This is my 4th Samsung. No, not a repalcement but my very happy 4th purchase.
The LN-40B630 was a 76th and 70th birthday present to my parents who are have difficulty with their vision. They were estatic at not only the size of the screen but the beauty and clarity of it. I connected it to a regular cable box, then connected it to an HD cable box and my parents were floored. My mom though she is retired still does a lot of work with her church and using the Samsung as a monitor for her laptop is the creme de la creme. All of the features of the LN-40B630 make this HD TV a marvelous product. Numerous connectivity options, the overall beauty and stylish look and the ease of use for not so techy elderly folks would make any and everyone a very proud owner. To quote my Mom and Dad I Love It Son. Every time I watch TV, I will say to myself, What a wonderful son I have and a fantastic TV.

This was my first flat panel TV and I did not know what to expect when it arrived. My whole family had the same reaction that I did when we got it hooked up... WOW!! The picture clarity is incredible and the controls are intuitive and easy to navigate. It pairs well with my Home Theatre and was a great investment. The touch of color is a nice accent to the already good looking TV. It is also MUCH lighter than I expected for a TV this size. Vanns has great service and knowledgeable salespeople who made this purchase even better. I would highly recommend both Vanns and the Samsung TV.

This is a great TV. Hooked it to a local antenna and the HDTV picture is amazing. Also sound is excellent for such a flat screen . The Touch of Color is very nice in our room. *which is red and yellow If you are a channel flipper you will be happy that surfing the channels is fast.. Connecting the foot to the TV was a bit hassle really have to tighten the screws. The only negative thing I have to say is that I dont understand why Samsung dropped the S-video connection. But all-in-all a fantastic TV

I just got this television and am really enjoying it so far. Be careful on the initial setup though, at first I noticed a lot of purple and green lines on the screen, but they went away after the setup.
The picture now is very crisp and the colors are true and vibrant, even without HD. I am very impressed by the quality. I had read some reviews that sound quality was not great, but it seems plenty loud enough and clear to me.
The customer sevice at Vanns is very good.

You need great H.D sorce to get The best picture that this T.V will provide !
The only thing I wish it had was a second tuner to work the P.I.P without a second device . and one more 75 ohms plug to make antennas connechion easyer.

I bought this TV for my husband after doing a lot of research. I read many, many reviews and did many comparisons with other brands, models and sites. We could not go over a 40 because of our cabinet and this TV fits perfectly. We are loving the picture, clarity and wonderful colors this Samsung has to offer. The price was outstanding on this purchase. I kept checking back on the close out section and found the TV as an open box with a great discount. I have used Vanns for other purchases for my husband, like an Onkyo 7.1 receiver with speakers, and received a good deal on that as well. I will continue to come back to Vanns for future purchases.

Received the TV as promised for about 2 weeks now.
Packaging is good as evidenced by the packing from the warehouse.
Remote control is not universal so I have to program the TV into my cable remote control which works rather well. Hope in the future TV s come with TV universal remote control.
Setup is straight forward with the instruction provided.
This TV has amazing color display especially with the Winter Olympic HD programming.
Have not had the chance to try the other features yet, but so far so good with the TV.
I am quite satisfy with the unit and strongly recommend people that are shopping for a HDTV set to look at this unit before ordering.

There are some new models that have more features e.g., LN40B650, however, in my opinion the price difference is not worth the additional features. Wow! This LCD has one of the best pictures I have seen. I did tons of research on many TVs and consulted with Consumers Reports before buying this Samsung. It has an 80000 to 1 color ratio. Super colors you just have to see to believe! You wont be disappointed with this one.

I use the LN-40B630 as both a television and computer monitor in my home office. Connected to high-def satellite service, the picture quality is outstanding. So far, I have not even changed the out-of-the-box settings.
It also works great as a monitor. I was a little concerned that a 40 inch monitor might be overwhelming, but it is wall-mounted and that little extra distance makes it quite workable even sitting at my desk. Using a wireless mouse and keyboard, I can relax on the sofa and do anything on the PC I want. I originally had planned on a smaller size, but for a few extra dollars the 40 makes for much more satisfying TV viewing. No regrets there.
If I could change one thing it would be to add the ability to use the PIP function for multiple HDMI imputs. I knew about this limitation before purchasing so I am not surprised or disappointed. It is just something that would make a great product even better.
The buying experience from Vanns could not have been better -- excellent price and promp delivery in great packaging. I would heartily recommend both Samsung and Vanns -- a winning combination.

This is the first LCD TV I ever owned and as far as I am concerned it is one of the best. When I compared it to other brands my friends own the picture is more clear, base sound is better and the looks and style of the TV fits what I like.

To start with the customer service was great! All questions answered and nothing seemed minor about details of purchase.
The unit arrived right on time. Hook-up was pretty simple, make sure you have a HDMI cable if you are a first time HD TV buyer. My family could not be happier! From the kids to my wife everyone loves the new TV. All components hook up easy, the swivel base is an extra nice feature when hooking-up multiple components!
I would highly recommend this flat screen to anyone! Samsung is a great product just like my neighbor said.

We really like this TV because it does fit nice in the room we have put it in and the picture quality is so much nicer than we had before because this is our first Flat screen TV. I ordered this TV because of two main reasons- it had good reviews and it fit into an existing built in cabinet and bookcase unit. The TV has been great. Excellent picture from blue ray and regular dvds. TV sound is not the best but I use a home theatre system so not a huge factor. Identified my network settings easily and I check my stocks, weather, etc. daily with the touch of a button. Hooked up my networked blue ray player and enjoy streaming content. Just sacked the dish! Havent watched a commercial in over a month!

After doing an extensive amount of research
this lcd was the most logical choice.Besides having the features I was looking for namely the 120hz for viewing sporting events.The price was by far better than any of the competitors out there.
The picture is of crystal clear quality and the functions are very user freindly.
I found the people who served me at Vanns to be most helpful upon ordering .The set arrived on time in perfect condition.The person who took my order strongly suggested that I purchase a hdmi cable. I elected to purchase my own because I wanted the best cable I coujd afford.Mine cost seventy dollars.The very fact that this person was somewhat persistant about the cable only proved that Vanns obviously knows the products they sell.I was sold and have no regrets.
The only minor flaw with the set was the stand.It was slightly out of level .A simple shim within the stand itself solved the problem.Other than that, I am pleased with everthing.

Samsung LN-40B630 is excellent TV. We got this TV on Black Friday deal. TV came before estimated date and we are enjoying the quality of picture every day since. After this TV, when time get to choose small TV, we even not thinking about the brand and got small 26 TV also Samsung. My friend is Sony fan, but after he sees our Samsung he changed his opinion about the Sony TVs. Truly recommend to anyone Samsung TVs for excellent quality.

The Samsung TV I received came with the incorrect screws for the stand. Samsung blamed VANNs for sending the incorrect screws. Shannon Douglas VANNs customer service has provided me with Outrageous customer service throughout the process!

This TV has served us well so far. It has a great picture, one of the best Ive seen in the price-range. The sound is also good, but Im not the best judge of that. It is very simple set up and I find that Samsung is usually worth the slightly higher cost compared to some of its competitors.

The Samsung LCD HD TV model # LN40B630 had a delay of the sound which, when operating when another TV in an adjacent room was on, produced an objectionable Echo effect that had not been a problem with the previous TV. This was the case whether the TV used a composite AV connection, Standard Definition, High Definition HDMI, or Component YPbPr. Another HD LCD TV of a different brand was used in the Samsungs stead and did not produce the Echo effect. Samsungs customer support was not very helpful, pragmatic or knowledgeable after several calls to their help line. They tended to fob off the blame on the satellite service or tell me that I should turn off the other TVs and I should not have more than one turned on at a time. Even a Samsung repair technician on a site visit said there was nothing Samsung could do and suggested I change the Samsung HIgh Definition TV to a standard COAX connection like the other TVs in the house. Samsung products may be good but their Customer support is manifestly deficient and in need of an overhaul.

We needed a 40-42 screen for a brightly-lit many-window room. This Samsung happens to have a matte-finish screen and high contrast ratio deep blacks, the two features most important to us. It also has 120 Hz refresh more than enough for TV viewing. In our bright room, I did need to adjust the black level, brightness and contrast from the factory settings, and the result was pretty good -- reflections from the windows were diffuse enough not to interfere with the picture. Plasmas in the same price range were out of the question because of their highly reflective screens. Sound is fine but a little on the hollow-boomy side -- if you were putting it in a living room I would pipe it into a sound system. Overall we were pleased with the purchase and think it was the best choice for our situation.

Very good picture. 120 Hz works nice and no blurring when watching sports. Nice looking stand. TV does everything I expected. Very happy with my choice. The only negative is that it is hard to tell when you have really turned it off sometime. The red light is on whether it is on or off. It also would be nice if there were manual controls on the TV in addition to the remote control.

I love the clearness of the picture. It was super easy to set up. The 4 HDMI ports are just what I needed I had a 2 HDMI tv before and therefore was not able to take full advantage of some of the full 1080p on the connections not made thru HDMI. The pip is great. I purchased the T.V. following a great review on gizmodo for best televisions under $1000. I was not dissapointed. The red touch of color is less of a stand out than I thought it would be but that is not a big deal and might actually be better for some. The picture is outstanding and the framerate is amazing for Xbox 360 and PS3. The only problem I had was that the edge enhancement mode made tv and movies look fake. It is easily changed by turning the mode off. Vanns was great and so was the product. I would reccomend it to everyone.

we LOVE our new TV! It is everything it said it was and more from the write up. We had been shopping for a very long time, not just because of price, but also because of new features being added so quickly. When I came upon the Vanns site & this TV it was just too good to be true. And the price, how can I compare it with anyone else? This TV has an incrediable picture - true colors - no lag in the picture with fast action. We watch a lot of sports, and when you are watching an NCAA Basketball game, you think you are in the thick of the excitement, its live drama. We would buy from Vanns again & again and have recommended them to serveral of our friends who are also in the market. Our 40 inch Samsung is our first larger HDTV and we are very impressed. The picture quality is terrific. Much better than other tvs that we looked at. The set up was very easy and directions straightforward.
We do not have any additional sound amplification and sound quality is excellent.

We received this Samsung from Vanns about two week ago. First it arrived in four business days. It was double boxed with air pillows protecting the Samsung box. Removed from box, allowed it to warm up to room temp., plugged it in, connected to antenna, and scanned channels. Great picture, sound, and remote. We love it. I was going to buy a Sony XBR9, glad I changed my mind.

I have had my 40 Samsung model 630 for a week now. I replaced a 60 Hz Sharp LCD TV. The 120Hz makes a huge difference in picture quality. The Sharp had a good picture but it is much clearer at 120Hz. I got a Samsung Blu-ray player with the LCD TV. It made the deal an excellent value, too. This was my first order from Vanns. I got the TV a day earlier than promised.

This Samsung is excellent in almost all aspects! The picture quality is amazing. The tv is also very stylish, with a bit of red on the edges. There is also some design to the tv, unlike the majority that are just large black rectangles.
The tv is amazing easy to install straight out of the box. There is very little configuring that is required to get it running. The table mount was a little difficult to attach, but nothing a power screwdriver couldnt fix.

Great customer service, i pre-ordered this set and as soon as it came in i was notified and got shipping estimate from FedEx, i even took the day off of work to play with my new toy and boy was i impressed.
You hear everyone saying that lcds dont have as deep blacks as plasmas but this tv has multiple settings to specifically set the darkness and is so good, black borders around movies blend in to the frame itself. 5 out of 5
120hz refresh rate works wonders especially in fast paced video games and sports, there is a demo mode that lets you see the difference between when its on and off. images are way smoother. During movies i recommend to set 120hz to either clear or off since it makes the scenes look too good as if you were there filming the movie rather than experiencing the movie. 5 out of 5
