The triple whammy
You want a TV that gives you a great picture. But you don't want to spend a fortune. You also want your TV to support all your media sources. Fortunately for you, Panasonic has a TV that fits all three of those needs. The TC-L42E3 is a 42" edge-lit LED LCD panel with In Plane Switching. This provides you with a vivid picture and incredible contrast from virtually any angle. In addition to improving the picture, LED lighting ensures that this television is incredibly energy-efficient, so you save big on your power bills every month. A great picture is nothing without content, though. The TCL42E3 is equipped with 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, and an SD slot, so you can play all of your standard sources like Blu-ray discs, video games (there's even a special Game mode to give you an edge), and cable as well as letting you enjoy your own media files stored on a flash drive or SD card. But it gets even better. The built-in LAN port or an optional Wi-Fi adapter give you access to Easy IPTV and all the top streaming providers that come with it, like Netflix, Pandora, Facebook, CinemaNow, Napster, and Amazon VOD (although subscriptions or purchases may be required for some services). Additionally, this Panasonic LED TV is DLNA certified, so it can access content from other DLNA-compliant devices on your home network, including many PCs. This TV is a great way to enjoy all your media in one convenient place. And best of all, this 42" beauty is yours for under a grand.

I have the TC-L42E3 setup in the bedroom on a cantilever wall mount . The picture in HD is unbelievable. The non-HD channels are noticeably and expectantly grainy. I had to buy the WiFi dongle separately purchased directly from Panasonic. I didnt expect to have to manually force the TV to connect to wireless every time the TV is turned on. Minor annoyance. The online options leave much to be desired. Netflix, Amazon, Pandora, Facebook, and one other online cinema pay option. No Hulu, no YouTube. Sony blows Panasonic away in this area. The ability to play movies and video from a USB flash drive was a pleasant surprise. This is the second TV Ive purchased from Vanns and I have nothing but positive things to say about their products and their service. Thanks Vanns.

We bought this tv after reviewing several models online. Found this one to have the features we were looking for at a reasonable price. We have never ordered electronics online before so were skeptical and intimadated. It was delivered yesterday. Because of the tvs size it took 2 of us to remove the set from the box which was packed VERY well and set it up but all it required was attaching the stand to the tv. We have Dishtv and it had been set up for an old analogue but the hookup was the same for the new tv. Turned it on and got an excellent picture. One feature we like but havent tried yet is being able to insert a smart card from the camera to view our pictures and videos. note the specs on this tv indicated it would handle videos as well as jpg. format not all tvs specified that.. Another feature we really wanted was to be able to hook up an old VCR as well as a DVD player. We knew it was capable but had to have the Dishtv service man make the connections when he came out to switch the dish to HD today. Two much unfamiliar terminology for us older folks but anyone familiar with that wouldnt have any trouble. We watched the Bears play last night and it was amazing how clear everything was. We also were shopping for tvs with 1080p and 120hz but this one is 60hz. We were worried about the motion clarity but didnt notice any blurring watching the football game last night. Today, after having the HD satellite hooked up, the picture is unbelievably crystal clear and as far as we can tell the difference between 60hz and 120hz is undetectable to our eyes.

I got this TV to replace a 32 Sharp Aquos I got in 2008, that one was one of the best TVs Ive ever owned. The Panasonic is good. I do have two complaints about it. 1 It is not easy to customize the color settings not even using one of those calibrating Blu-ray discs. 2 It seems like my TVs light sensor isnt working properly. On the Sharp, if the room lighting was too bright, it would adjust automatically. On the Panasonic, it is always dimmed. So, I dont use it. If I do, I cant see anything! I will talk to the Vanns people to see...
The Netflix features works flawlessly, albeit a bit slow to load. In addition, it does not passthrough Dolby Digital from Netflix. This can be solved by either using Apple TV or your HTs DSP.
Excellent viewing from any angle, though.
