Everything you want and more
The LG 47LW5600 has it all, and then some. This 47" beauty features a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution with LED backlighting and local dimming for incredible contrast and detail. There are plenty of different picture modes, and Picture Wizard II and ISFccc-readiness ensure that your picture is fine-tuned to be "just right," while an Intelligent Sensor adjusts the brightness based on your room's lighting so the picture stays right, day or night. The sensor also helps save energy, leading the 47LW5600 to earn ENERGY STAR certification. But this LED LCD has much more to offer. It's also 3D TV, so you can enjoy the latest Full HD 3D Blu-rays. It will even upconvert 2D content to artificial 3D, and the LW5600 will let you adjust the depth on your 3D so it looks natural to you. Four pairs of 3D glasses are even included! The included Wi-Fi adapter gives you even more entertainment options. DLNA certification lets you access media from other devices (like PCs) on your home network. But the fun really smarts with Smart TV and the LG App Store. Smart TV offers instant streaming from a wide variety of top content providers for movies, TV, music, and even photos. Meanwhile, the LG App Store lets you download a variety of fun and useful Apps to your TV, from social networking to entertainment to informative Apps. With this TV, your entertainment options are virtually limitless!
3D done different
The 3D of the LG 47LW5600 isn't the same as most of the 3DTVs that have come out in the past year or so. Most modern 3DTVs use a technique called active shutter. Basically, it shows a picture for the right eye and a picture for the left eye in quick succession for each frame, displaying a total of 240 frames per second. The glasses feature two LCD lenses that block out one eye at a time (at the same super-fast speed), so that each eye only sees the frames meant for it. It's pretty cool technology, but it has some downsides. For starters, the glasses are expensive and heavier because they require batteries. That's where passive 3D technology on TVs like this one comes in. With passive 3D technology, rather than having two separate pictures per frame, one frame is shown with the pictures for both the right and left eyes (120 frames per second). The glasses feature special polarized lenses so that each eye only sees that part of the picture meant for it. Not only does this make the glasses lighter, more affordable, and more comfortable, it offers a wider viewing angle and smoother picture. Passive 3D is the same technology used in 3D movie theaters. Because of its numerous advantages, passive 3D systems like LG's Cinema 3D TV are actually preferred 3 to 1 by movie-watchers. So as you shop for a new 3DTV, remember that not all 3D is created equal.
What's in the box?
Included with purchase is the TV, tabletop swivel stand, 4 pairs of 3D glasses, Magic Motion remote, standard backlit remote control, Wi-Fi adapter, power cord, and manual.

I recently purchased the LG 47LW5600 based upon the advice of the Vanns customer representative and could not be happier with the decision. I opted for the passive 3D based upon reviews suggesting their is less eyestrain and the fact that we would rarely use this option. The TV arrived in great shape and was easy to set up. Our first night watching the TV, my 13yo son commented that watching the LG in 2D mode was like looking through a window at the actors rather than watching a Television. We love the TV and the excellent support provided by Vanns. When we found that the TV had undergone a price drop, I contacted Vanns within 2 weeks of purchasing the set and was promptly reimbursed the difference with no questions or problems. We prefer shopping at Vanns over other vendors because of their excellent customer service and their knowledgeable staff. Keep up the good work.

This TV has a lot going for it. I mounted this tv to my master bedroom wall with a standard VESA 400x400 mount. I will be comparing this tv to my main tv in the living room which is a Samsung PN64D8000 with active 3D versus this unit which employs passive 3D technology. Right off the bat, you can clearly see that this set has whites that are much brighter than the Samsung however, no matter what adjustments you make, the blacks will never be as inky as that of the Samsung or plasmas in general...this is just an innate characteristic of edge lit LEDs. Colors however are dynamic and vivid and offer great viewing pleasure. Motion blur is rarely an issue with or without the motion filter. The 3D feature is really nice if you sit back far enough. I have the set mounted about 8-9 feet away from my viewing spot and the interlacing issue i heard about with current passive sets is impossible to distinguish. However, standing 6th away or closer and the jagged lines are clearly visible. This is not an issue with my Samsung, no matter how far or close you sit...the 3D imagine is always solid. I must say though, the passive glasses for the LG are much more comfortable and imo causes less eye fatigue. Internet connectivity was simple to use, just plug in the provided UsB N adapter and off you go. Searching for content was a breeze and the motion wand remote really helps you type much more efficiently My only gripe with this tv is the overall design. The Samsung looks beautiful even when it is off...I cant say the same about the LG. Sure its not grotesque looking, but no one would ever walk into your house and comment about how beautiful the design is...something i hear all the time with the Samsung. Over all, this tv was great for the price.. Is the Samsung worth 3.5x more than this tv or 3.5x better? Not a chance...this tv is a solid all around performer with all the bells and whistles you can want at this point in time. Definitely recommended!

This is an awesome TV that has worked very well for me so far. Im no picture expert but it looks amazing. LED is really bright and colorful. 3D upconvert of regular programming is an excellent feature which fans of 3D will definitely like. Sound probably isnt the best Ive heard but is amazing considering the TV is so thin. Web TV is a cool feature but dont expect to be watching Flash videos with the exception of YouTube. Some cool apps like netflix are included but I havent had the chance to try them. TruMotion feature makes the picture look even better but animation and action look fake. I disabled this feature.
Pros Great deal at $999.00, awesome picture, 3D, web capabilities, comes with 4 3D glasses uses the same kind as theater, so really easy to get more for almost nothing
Cons No Flash for WebTv, Sound doesnt blow you away, Wasnt a big fan of the TruMotion but it is easy to disable.
Overall If you want a great deal on a 45-50 3D TV, this is it.

I recently bought this TV from Vanns through Amazon.com.
I received the TV about a week ago and I am pretty pleased. The picture quality is excellent, the SmartTv features are pretty cool, the 3D is a nice surprise, and the slim profile makes the TV look awesome.
Picture Quality
I did a lot of research on this TV before I pulled the trigger and ordered one. I read some people mentioning artifacts or blooming in the picture. I have seen some bleed through my own description of the LED backlighting along the edge of the picture with a super dark black image on the screen. The only time Ive seen this is when the TV is on some kind of menu or booting up and the screen is supposed to be totally black. Ive never seen it with a program TV or movie, even in the darkest of scenes. Overall, the picture is very crisp, the colors are great and vibrant, and I think the 120Hz definitely helps with the sports.
SmartTV
I was expecting more from LG with the SmartTV. Especially watching some reviews on Amazon, Newegg, CNET, etc, I thought this interface would be pretty awesome. It works, but its definitely not awesome. The Netflix streaming software is barebones, not all that intuitive, and just kinda boring. There was an ad on Amazons page for this TV saying that you can stream lots of programming from their new On Demand Video service onto this TV, which is true, but theres not much stuff on their database yet, and its pretty hard to find your way through it. The motion remote is pretty cool. I think this is a pretty cool feature for the first week or two, but I have a feeling the novelty will wear out pretty quickly. All the apps, especially the LG Apps, it seems, are just kinda minimalist and dont have much functionality.
3D
Lets preface this by saying that I have not seen 3D programming or watched a Blu-Ray that was 3D encoded. The only 3D I can comment on was the 2D-3D upconversion. The upconversion is pretty cool. It was definitely a nice surprise. It will convert pretty much anything into 3D. It works pretty well with sports and movies. I didnt buy this TV because it was 3D, and the 3D isnt that important to me, but it is a pretty cool feature to maybe watch Transformers or Star Wars or something in 3D every once in a while.
The TV was really easy to set up, right out of the box, and the slim profile is really cool. The sound quality is not very good because its such a small volume to cram speakers into. I have a pair of the $80 Bose computer speakers plugged into the headphone jack and they make the sound 10X better.
Overall, Id buy this TV again for the great picture quality and the slim profile, but not so much for the SmartTV or the motion remote.

This is a nice TV and delivers what it promises. The big plus for me is the Netflix app, which works very well. The negative is the edge lighting, which is at times noticeable and distracting. The 3D is impressive but not of much use at present. Like another reviewer, i received my TV with a small chip at the lower left corner. Are there many like that or did I get the one he returned?!

Im very pleased with my new TV.. the movie 3D is amazing... the 2D to 3D conversion... its ok.. depends on what you are trying to watch on how well it works..... the only thing that I was upset about it, the fact after recieveing my new TV from VANNS it was damaged..... the lower left corner was busted and after waiting an week for the replacement... the lower left corner on it as well is slightly damaged... but not wanting to wait another week for a new one... besides.... love the picture qaultily of the tv...... and I put my Wii game next to the tv and you can not notice the corner.... but I still think that VANNS should credit some thing for the damaged TV for the second time.....
