The picture is the greatest on HD and sometimes not so good on other broadcast programs. I think most networks are still using old equipment and recorded programs are poorly converted to digital and HD.
The speakers on this TV are pointed out the back and this makes the audio not clear and hard to fine tune. |

After months of research & trying to decide whether to go LCD or plasma, I finally pulled the trigger on the Samsung 4681.
First, let me say that with this TV, it is all about the source you feed it. If your analog cable signal is poor and your local cable tv maintainence crew has not done what they call a sweep of the system recently, you probably will be disappointed. Good clean analog is good on this TV, but not the best I have seen on other TVs, however on HI-Def signals and HD-DVD or Blu Ray, this TV is in one word outstanding. The colors are rich and vibrant, and those black levels!! On completely dark scenes, there is just a little bit of loss in the detail, but not enough to be concerned with. If I hadnt done a side by side comparison with my Panasonic plasma to satisfy my curiousity, I would have never noticed. When this tv fades to black, you would swear that it has been turned off!! Thats how good the black levels are on the set.
On fast moving sports and action movies, this LCD does a fine job of processing the picture. remember, this model is not 120HZ, but with the LED backlighting, you wont need it.
The sweet spot On your standard 7 foot sofa, anyone who sits within those 3 cushions will have the best seat in the house, however if you move out of range, you will see how quickly the picture washes out.
Conclusion.
With a properly maintained cable system, or HD sources, this TV will perform above expectations and will have you asking yourself... how can it get any better than this? |
