Picture the possibilities
When it comes to viewing incredible new worlds, you don't just want a 3D picture. You want an incredible 3D picture. But, even more than that, you just want an incredible picture in general, whether you're watching the latest Blu-ray movie, or streaming one of your favorites from the web. The Sony 40" KDL40EX720 brings you a bright, vivid, thin panel 1080p television thanks to LED lighting around the edges combined with enhancements like Deep Color, and its X-Reality engine that analyzes every scene to provide the best in sharpness and contrast. Add in MotionFlow XR 240Hz processing that enhances the sharpness of fast movement or action, and you've got a TV worth getting lost in.
Streaming, Skype, and DLNA… oh, my!
In today's world, entertainment doesn't just stop at what you've got on hand: online there is nearly a limitless amount of options for movies, music, and more. The EX720 helps you to tap into that deep well of entertainment by providing access to streaming content from providers like Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, YouTube, and many more, alongside DLNA compatibility that lets you take movies, music, and photos stored on your home computer and display them on your HDTV. You can even turn your TV into a social hub by adding the Sony camera/microphone and taking advantage of Skype video chat. Connect to your home network without the wires when you add the Sony UWA-BR100 Wi-Fi adaptor.

Within 3 weeks of purchase our Sony Bravia kdl40ex720 had developed a stuck red pixel - virtually in the centre of the screen - almost as thoug a lazer pointer was being directed at the panel in dark scenes. The panel was replaced by Sony they refused to replace the whole TV. The other major gripe is have is Ive found numerous issues with playback of different file formats from the HDD through the TV. Formats that a Samsung handled with ease encounter a playback not supported message on the Bravia. This is really disappointing. A friends recently purchased Samsung same size, equal picture quality and at a slightly cheaper price - with all the same features as the Bravia and better sound from in-built speakers - again has no playback issues at all with ANY file type. M y suggestion is this - check google for the huge number of posts relating to bravia supported file types and base your purchase on the fact that Sony hasnt dealt with the issue despite the number of queries and complaints. I dont even OWN a Samsung and based on the recent experiences outlined above, Id recommend that brand over a Bravia every time. I wont even consider another Sony TV without conducting a more thorough check of performance and known issues - issues compounded by the woeful lack of willinginess to address an on-going problem that has obviously been dealt with successfully by Sonys cometitors - ie. the ability to play ALL file types. Strangely the PS3 will play a larger variety of file types than the kdl40ex720.

This is a great TV for a number of reasons. First, the color reproduction is excellent and the black levels are about as good as they get for an LED.
