The Samsung PN58B560 58” 1080p Plasma HDTV is absolutely the most impressive system I have ever seen. The second-generation plasma has been thoroughly tested with blu-ray, and DirecTV 1080p HD receiver. Sports are so impressive that seems like everyone in my huge family comes over to our house to view them. Most impressive is the quality and extensive control over sharpness, color intensity, brightness and contrast.
The intuitive AnyNet feature is a real bonus, especially when connected to DirecTV, Blu-Ray, XBOX 360 or PS3 systems.
The only question I have these days is about the new 3D technology. Here I dropped a ton on my entire system and happy with the result, and now the days of those redblue glasses are being replaced my the new 3D technology weve seen in theaters. This is a wonderful buy in the 1500.00 range. Worth EVERY cent!

Very Good, but not Spectacular (March 08, 2010)

Ive had the PN58B560 for about two months now. The buying process from Vanns was easy. Delivery was 8 days after I placed the order. The delivery guy was courteous and efficient, unloading the TV into my garage and opening the box to be sure there was no damage to the set.

After all the great reviews I had read I was hopingexpecting to be wowed by this set. I was disappointed in that although the clarity is great, I honestly didnt see any difference other than screen size in comparison to my Sony rear projection 720p set that this replaced.

Some random thoughts I have not heard any of the buzzing others have reported. The sound from the set is thin, but I run the sound through my home stereo so thats not an issue. I find it a minor annoyance that I have to toggle through the whole menu of inputs to go from one to another, say from my sons hard drive input to the cable TV input. The set looks sharp, and for me the swivel base is a benefit Panasonic models have a fixed base.

One issue I struggled with was how big a screen I could get. My viewing distance is as close as 10.5 feet. I found conflicting advice regarding the appropriate screen size, but I went with 58 and Im glad I did. We are not too close at 10 feet, resolution is fine, and its amazing how quickly we got used to the 58 screen. It seems to me to get this size and quality TV for $1500 or so is a great value. That said, as something of an afterthought, I looked into rear projection TVs, and found that you can get a bigger screen size for less money with nearly equal image quality if you go with rear projection rather that plasma or LCD. The difference, of course, is the depth of the screen 14 or so for projection, 2 or 3 for plasma or LCD. For anyone that doesnt need the thin screen, rear projection seems to me to be the better bang for the buck.

Lastly, some of you may be debating how much connectivity features you need or want in your TV. Upgrading your TV to use all the widgets and internet options can cost several hundred dollars, but you can incorporate all these features when you buy your new Blu-Ray player for a lot less and get the same functional outcome.

I agonized over choices of various flat screens. LCD, LED, Plasma. Many good products. Ultimately I made my choice using
such sources as Consumer Reports and reviews by purchasers and trade magazines.
In addition, price was important in the decision. The Samsung PN58B560 made the most sense for me. Having used it for a couple of weeks I am happy with the decision.
It has the features I need, along with a super
picture. The price at Vanns beat everyone else, including internet sources and local
stores, not just a little but hundreds of dollars.

PROS Good size for the $$$. Great, vibrant Colors. Great HD performance.

CONS Audible Buzz when volume is set very low5-10 bars. Still behind LCDs in controlling screen reflection.

Both Cons are annoying, specially the buzz.
The reflection--as long as you can keep your room dark, the TV is wonderful.

If you are putting this TV anywhere that has large windows, or you are easily annoyed with buzzing sound, Id not recommend this.

If you are using this in a light-controlleddark room, and can drown out the buzzing sound with a good home theater speakers, then this is an excellent TV for the price.

After doing many hours of research I decided on the PN58B560. I was between the 650 and the 560, but decided I would not use the internet connectivity options on the 650 and decided to save some $$ opting for the 560.

As for my experiece w the 560.....the picture quality is amazing. Blacks are deep and rich. Out of the box the set looked great. Unfortunately the set I received was defective and I worked with Vanns to return it. I was nervous about doing a return on such a large item, but Vanns was great and made the process easy.....they are definately the best when it comes to customer service.

Very pleased with TV. Easy setup, easy to use. Good remote and works great with the Samsung Home-Theater-in-a-Box I purchased with it. Internal speakers are just OK but with surround sound system, movies and sports are great.

Watching sports football, NASCAR, Olympics has been great with this plasma TV. HD quality is significantly better than standard. Im pleased with the wide viewing angles. I dont feel I have to be directly in front of screen to see well.

Only negative Ive found is the glass screen reflects light coming in from windows. I solve that problem by closing the room-darkening drapes when I want to watch something.

We went to the local high-end TV retailer and compared pictures. The Samsung plasma TVs had great pictures for the price.

We bought this TV online based on Consumer Reports retailer ratings and website ease-of-use. The purchase transaction and customer contact during shipping was top-notch.

Best TV Ive ever owned. After a lot of research, I decided to purchase this model because it is a 1080P24p set. It looks amazing. Ive heard a lot about whether or not one should break-in a plasma set. I have chosen to do so by running a plasma break in DVD that helps exercise the pixels and help prevent against screen burn.

Colors are amazing and the brightness is also amazing obviously being a plasma TV.

One reason i got the 560 over the 650 is because i went to check it out in the store and the 650 appeared to have much more glare from ambient light. The 560 looks like it deals with reflections much, much better. Dont get the 550 either because it lacks the 24p frame rate.

One con if you consider it one is that this set does not have widgets, such as the YouTube or others. This isnt a con for me because i have a computer that i can plug into the TV.

If you want a really nice set for a good price, this TV should be on your list to check out.

I give it 4 overall stars only because it lacks the internet connectivity. Which for me is not a big deal. Otherwise it is a 5 star television.

As always, Vanns has the best prices. Vanns is the best!

I purchased a 58 Inch Samsung plasma TV. I had researched the product on-line and with the manufacturer. I also had a lengthy on-line chat with a Vanns respresentative before making the purchase. I found the Vanns representative to be very knowledgable about the product and honest about what they didnt know regarding a very technical question on firmware upgrades.

This was my first purchase from Vanns and being from NY I was somewhat concerned about the service I would get. I was promised a factory fresh product delivered with care, and that is exactly what I got. They also were less expensive than my local alternatives, and the no-tax no-delivery charge made the price untouchable.

It will not be my last Vann purchase.

Replaced a 50 LCD Projection TV with this plasma. It is a 35 larger area than a 50 set and has outstanding color vitality and very deep blacks. In my humble opinion you would have to spend twice as much to get anywhere near this picture in an LCD. The connections and side mounted access are much better than Samsungs top plasma 8 series. Unless you want the direct internet connection, dont spend the extra money on the 650, though I do believe it has a slightly better anti-glare screen. Only complaint is the mirror like reflection of the piano black frame. A great set at a great price. Delivery was easy to arrange between snow storms and met all of my needs.

There isnt a higher quality to value ratio in the flat panel TV market. The one issue most people talk about wrt the Samsung Plasmas is the buzz. Yes, there is a noticable buzz when the volume is low and you are near the screen. However, with a screen this size, there is no need tol be so close.

I spent about 25 hours researching TVs before buying this most recent one. It replaced a 50 inch Mitsubishi Diamond line plasma made in Japan thats upstairs now.

This is the first Korean product I have purchased. I have been buying Japanese made sets for 20 years.

Pros- The picture is very solid. The saturation is excellent and the black levelsbrightness very solid. Coupled with the smooth 24fps mode for Blu-Rays, I cant think of better display at under $2000 for watching movies and TV shows.

Cons- These sets really do buzz. Some people claim 10 of them dont. Or do. But mine is among many reported to do so. All plasmas actually buzz a little but this one does a bit more. It isnt bad unless you are sitting within 6 ft of the set or have the sound low. For those new to plasmas, remember that even these new sets are not entirely burn-in proof. IMO, get the Samsung LED series if you want to play console games or watch non-letterbox TV shows a lot.

We have had this Samsung TV for a couple of months and we are very happy with our choice. Not only did Vanns have the best price but their attentive service made the whole transaction as easy an online experience as weve had so far. This makes six or seven products weve gotten from them and we can honestly say we are 100 satisfied with all aspects of this company.
We did a lot of research before this particular purchase and the reviews were nearly all positive, but you always have doubts until you can see for yourself. This model lives up to the hype and more. The sound quality is the best of any TV weve ever owned. The picture on HD is crystal clear, colors are true, and resolution is sharp even close up. Blue Ray movies just knock your socks off! Internet access is a great bonus feature as well. I just cant imagine being any happier with any other model at any price.

Im happy with my new Samsung television. Great picture, logical controls and excellent resolution. Works very well with my new Samsung Blu-ray DVD player. Currently I have it set up using component wiring from the cable box instead of HDMI and it still delivers a great picture. I am looking forward to getting the new cable box with HDMI outputs to see if will improve further, but its already pretty remarkable. I would recommend this set without any reservations.

Very pleased with Vanns value, customer service and delivery speed. Received TV 5 days ahead of scheduled delivery date. Very pleased with overall quality and picture on this plasma TV. Picture out of the box was somewhat redish - some quick adjustments and it looked great. I went for the 560 because of the cinema flow feature. I cannot say yet if it is worth the extra dollars. Set looks awesome on the wall. Only weak area are the speakers which are adequate but could be better. I have heard reports of a loud buzzing noise coming from these sets - mine is fine. I got what I paid for - a good quality TV for $2K.
