I to chose the Panasonic for its preceived quality , and fell I was rewarded. Rich deep blacks, no picture distortion, and 43 pulldown, makes this a T.V. a good choice.
Also this HDTV is probably the only 37 inch which fits into a consule with a 36 inch width..
The sound was good too, coming from speakers which are below the T.V.

I was looking for a 37 LCD TV to fit in our small apartment. There are not that many options in this size the Viera hit the right price point, has a great picture, decent sound, three HDMI connections and not too many bells and whistles. I have been very pleased with my purchase.

We first purchased a Visio LCD 37 for our bedroom but because of some space constrains can only place our comfortable viewing chairs at somewhat wide viewing positions which caused the Visio screen to wash out. Costco was absolutely great about accepting the TV return. I then began a month long search for a flat panel without the grey out problem and found the Panasonic. At first I was skeptical about the back light specifications because they changed with the 2011 U3 version from the previous years. After asking many people, including Panasonic Customer Service who could not explain the difference, I found out that the entire back lighting system is LED unlike many LCDs which only have the outer area LED back lighted. The end result is that this LCD TV can be viewed at almost 90 degrees with the same great clarity as it presents straight on. We are extremely happy with our purchase and would recommend it to anyone. Another great feature is the sound. I wear hearing aids and have absolutely no problem with this systems sound clarity.

Good quality picture, fair sound, could use more HDMI imputs. On balance would rate this set on a scale of 0 to 10 about 7.5.
