Before I start gushing about this bad boys pros, let me cover its minor cons. Its remote control response is slow and its Standard Definition, SD, image quality is average.
I have yet to test this TV with a universal remote, so the issue may be resolvable if you have a universal remote, but the response time after pressing a button on the remote is pretty sluggish and can get annoying quickly. Luckily, I have a cable box, so I dont need the remote other than having to change input sources. If youre a person who needs to use the actual TVs remote, I suggest maybe looking into universal remotes.
The SD quality of the TV is pretty average. Colors are ok, but the size of the TV just stretches out the SD image so you start seeing a lot of flaws. However, having owned 3 HDTVs, Ive yet to see one that magically fixes SD signals. But, of what Ive experienced, this TVs SD image is average.
Ok, now we can get to the good stuff! The amount of inputs on this thing are phenomenal. 3 HDMI inputs 1 that allows for an DVIHDMI cable so you can hook up your computer, 2 component and 1 VGA. I didnt mention the composite, s-video and RF connections because I dont use them, but theyre there if you do! Im a huge gamer, so I have my PS3 connected via HDMI at 1080p, my Xbox 360 connected via VGA at 1080p, and my Nintendo Wii connected via component. They all look absolutely fantastic. HD-DVD movies look great, Blu-Ray movies look great and so do all the games. I couldnt have asked for a better TV set. Theres a setting on there called Game Mode, but I feel like it doesnt do much to enhance the image, so I keep it off.
As for regular TV, given all the inputs, I also have my cable box connected via HDMI, and the HD quality is just fantastic. And I still have one more HDMI input to spare!
The image quality of this bad boy is fabulous. And the options to tweak the images are abundant enough so that you can get the image to your liking. Given the sluggishness of the remote, setting everything up in terms of image settings, took forever, so hence my docking the Ease of Use score 1 point. For an LCD, the image out of the box is SUPER bright, 10,000 to 1 contrast ratio, so I actually had to turn down the brightness by putting the energy saving option to low. Then I had to adjust the contrasts, color and sharpness, and voila, perfect image!
The sound of the TV is also great. Ive read reviews of the previous model, and people would say the sound isnt very good, but they either fixed it for this model, or I got lucky. I think the sound is great, but I only sit 6 away from the source, so maybe the distance might matter to some. However, my experience has been completely positive in terms of sound.
The actual look of the TV, with its shiny black body, is just drop dead gorgeous. The clear plastic strip at the bottom of the TV, meant to deflect the sound towards the viewer, gives it a really nice aesthetic! People will want to touch your TV when they walk into your house. The swivel stand on it is also very nice. It makes it easy to access the back of your TV to fiddle with input wires and it also has a curve to it adding to the whole aesthetic as well. Most other stands always look so clunky and boxy to me. This whole TV is just beautiful from top to bottom. And although Im hard on the remote, at least it looks nice.
Theres not much more I can say about this TV. Its just fantastic. It has all the inputs youd ever need. You can feed almost any device into it including an MP3 player or camera via its USB slot! The image quality is just mind blowing. As a gamer, it just performs in every way I need it to perform. The sound worked extremely well for me. And lastly, the whole look and package just screams quality. Its flaws shouldnt even give you a hint of a second thought at purchasing this TV.
This ones a no brainer and has a great price. Take the plunge!
