I saw this LG TV at a local retailer side-by-side with 2 other comparable models from other brands - a Samsung & a Panasonic. Everything looks great with HD, but Ill be watching mostly standard def I have a lot of existing DVDs & shows I recorded on DVD, so I asked the salesman to switch to standard def content. What a difference - the Panasonic looked TERRIBLE! Both the LG & Samsung blew it out of the water. With both HD & SD content, the LG to my eye looked better in fast motion scenes. It has something called Fluid Motion 180Hz effect - seems to work. So the LG beat the Samsung in this area. This is a 720P set which looks great. I cant imagine spending more money for 1080.
Now that I have it home, Im even more pleased. It came already mounted on the stand. Its pulling in local broadcast channels in HD that I had trouble getting in analog! I only have it hooked up using cheap composite video - no component or HDMI yet, & everything still looks great! To be fair, the DVD player makes a difference too though. Results were a little disappointing but not unexpected with shows I recorded on DVD in 6hr mode. However, when I played it on a different player, even they looked great.
This TV is a solid buy, & ordering through Vanns was a pleasure. Saved $220 overall, arrived on time, works great! |
