Medi@2.0™ — Beyond HDTV
Heading the list of the Samsung PN58B650's advanced plasma HDTV performance is Samsung's new Medi@2.0 functionality. This new configuration combines four technologies to expand your viewing experience beyond the standard horizons. First, Internet@TV content service makes it possible to receive online content from Yahoo!, Flickr, eBay, and other sites via on-screen widgets (separate internet service is required). Second, with the PN58B650's DLNA capability, you can truly integrate this Plasma into your entire home entertainment system by connecting it to your home network. Third, you can enjoy hours of built-in entertainment features thanks to pre-loaded Content Library material. You can even personalize these features by adding content available online. Finally, USB 2.0 Movie functionality lets you use the PN58B650's 58" panel to show digital home movies, photos, and PC presentations via two USB ports.
Film-like home theater video with Cinema Smooth
Delivering a truly home theater experience, much of the latest high definition Blu-ray and HD satellite video content is available for playback at 24 frames-per-second — the same frame rate in which movies are recorded. Thanks to the Samsung PN58B650's Cinema Smooth technology, you are able to enjoy refined playback of 24p content. You experience the latest movie releases just as you saw them in the theaters, now from the comfort of your own personal home theater.
Enhanced. Elevated. Ecstatic. E-Panel
Whatever the "E" in Samsung's new E-Panel technology stands for, you can be sure that it's a synonym for smooth, vivid, high-performance video reproduction from an HD plasma panel. While Ultra FilterBright panel construction minimizes glare on the PN58B650's 58", full 1080p panel for improved viewing, even in rooms with ambient lighting, 600Hz Sub-Field Motion serves up moving images with enhanced realism. Because the illusion of motion used in movie and television programming is achieved by flashing a series of still images, or frames, on the screen in fast succession, the smoothness and naturalness of motion depends upon how many frames are shown and how fast they appear. Frame rates for film and television content range from 24 frames-per-second to 60fps (also expressed in Hertz). 600Hz Subfield Motion technology flashes each frame ten times, meaning that up to 600 frames are shown every second (when viewing 60Hz content). The result is nothing less than dramatically improved continuity between frames, which translates into seamless, lifelike motion. All your favorite movie and TV programming appears even smoother thanks to the PN58B650's incredibly fast 0.001ms pixel-response time.
E-Panel doesn't stop there . . .
Not only does the PN58B650's E-Panel technology deliver stunningly lifelike motion and reduced panel glare, but it also combines two other technologies for improved fast-action performance and enhanced detail. First, 1080 Full HD Motion technology is specifically designed to maintain improved resolution during faster motion sequences, such as in sports or action-movie programming. Second, Mega Dynamic Contrast Ratio technology provides improved, purer black-level and color performance for sharper detail and more vivid colors.
Styled with a Touch of Color
Samsung frames the PN58B650's widescreen, 1920 x 1080p plasma panel with a Touch of Color-enhanced bezel. For the B650 series, Samsung infuses the edges of the black bezel with a red accent, adding style and sophistication to the standard all-black bezel offered by other manufacturers.
Get your game on
Thanks to the PN58B650's Game Mode, you can achieve an improved gaming experience at the touch of a single button. Game Mode enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up image processing response, and enhances the audio on your favorite games. In essence, picture and sound quality are optimized for the gaming experience.
Speaking of audio . . .
For a surprisingly full audio experience from a 58" plasma HDTV, Samsung has designed the PN58B650 with two 10W speakers enhanced by SRS TruSurround HD technology. SRS TruSurround HD creates an immersive, feature-rich surround sound effect from just two speakers. Experience rich bass, detailed high-frequency audio, and clear dialogue.
Get tuned in
Geared up and ready for the Digital Television Transition (the government mandated switch to all-digital television broadcasting) the Samsung PN58B650 comes equipped with digital ATSC and QAM tuners. These digital tuners make receiving and enjoying digitally broadcast content — whether from the air or from cable or satellite — easy and worry-free.
ENERGY STAR of approval
Seeking to meet your demand to reduce energy use and preserve the environment, Samsung has made sure that the PN58B650 meets the U.S. government's standard for ENERGY STAR qualification. What does the ENERGY STAR qualification mean? ENERGY STAR is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency. For the family or homeowner, energy efficient choices can reduce energy consumption and expenses by up to one third while resulting in similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. ENERGY STAR helps you make the energy efficient choice. When a product boasts the ENERGY STAR qualification, this means the product meets stringent government standards set by the EPA and US Department of Energy for conserving both energy and the environment. So whether you are concerned for the environment, your pocket book or both, this HDTV helps ensure both are given an easier load to bear.
HDMIncredible
Bringing you the absolute best in connectivity, Samsung's PN58B650 features four HDMI connections. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the only interface in consumer electronics that can carry both uncompressed high-definition (HD) video and uncompressed multi-channel audio in all HD formats including 720p, 1080i and even 1080p. Your incoming media content comes in a variety of sizes, resolutions and formats, and with that in mind, HDMI systems automatically configure to display that content in the most effective format. Since HDMI carries all channels on video and audio, there is only one cable to plug into any HDMI-enabled source and display device. No more complicated cable set-up when installing your home theater system, and no more ugly cable mess behind your components. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on this single cable. Also, HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. (Please note that a physical adapter, sold separately, is needed to make the conversion from HDMI to DVI.)
Your HD lifeline
High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HDMI, is the only home A/V connection that allows for both Full HD 1080p video and 7.1-channel studio-quality audio to be passes along a single cable. In other words, in order to take full advantage of your home theater's high definition potential, you need to HDMI cabling to link HD-capable components. It's only natural that you might have questions regarding how best to outfit your personal HD system. Vann's sales representatives are here to explain all of your options. This plasma tv has turned out to be an absolute piece of crap. Exactly 14 months after purchasing this product 12 month warranty...good timing Samsung a issue with the TV started suddenly one day, it started shutting off. The times it stayed off varied. At first I thought I had a remote issue, or a neighbor with a similar remote. But after searching for others having similar issues....i knew it was just a junk product. I tried to contact Samsung about the issue but they did not respond other than to say that my warranty had ran out. As such I will never purchase a Samsung device again, I have lost all confidence in their ability to build a quality product. I do not suggest anyone purchase this TV.

I know, that is a lot of greats. But that is exactly what I experienced when buying my Samsung 58B650 from Vanns.
The final decision cocktail also included the Panasonic 54V10 , the 58V10, the Samsung 58B860, the Samsung 55B8500 and the LG 55LH90 .
We all do our research and winnow down the final choices based on our own personal criteria. Then it becomes a matter of where to buy and at what price. I wont bore you with the details invoved in my choice except to say I got everything I wanted at the price I wanted to pay. My first plasma was bought over-the-counter five years ago, mainly for buyers security. I wanted to be able to return it more easily if issues arose. Thankfully none have and the set is still going strong with 18.3K hours on it. So I have to say buying a big ticket item like this 58 inch Samsung from any online vendor, let alone one that is located across the country in the the Big Sky state, was not something I relished. But Vanns superb reputation for customer service helped to quell my concerns and the non-bundle pricing with free shipping was simply too good to pass up. I threw in a 3 year warranty upgrade with the savings I got over other vendors pricing and still spent less than I did 5 years ago for a 42 inch EDTV with no extended warranty. You gotta love progress!!!
Shipping was done quickly and I was informed every step of the way and provided with excellent tracking info. Upon delivery, the FedEX freight driver helped carry in the pristine box and also assisted with the unboxing and positioning of the set on my stand. He waited patiently while I tested the set and examined it for defects, hidden or otherwise. Happily none were found. I appreciated the help so I tipped the guy of course but FedEx freight says that is not their policy and whatever occurs is really between driver and customer.
The 58 inch Samsung is massive sitting in the same space as the older 42 inch Zenith I mentioned earlier. But that set has integral side speakers so the casing was already 47.5 inches wide with a little overhang on my stand. The Sammy is close to 55.5 inches wide. After some slight shifting of gear, this set has a good bit more overhang on the sides of the credenza than before but absolutely worth going for the 58 inch and not settling for less. I have seating at 7, 9 and 14 feet and the viewing is fine at each of them. At 14 feet on the recliner sofa, which is our preferred seating for watching DVD or BluRay movies, it is just about perfect.
I have examined the set for pixel issues and found none. Checked for buzzing and it is very slight ... really electro-static buzz generated in the panel and easily dealt with if not sitting very close and front and center at the same height as the panel. Nothing to trouble Vanns about. Swiveling the unit slightly practically eliminates any sound at all. There is also a very subtle vertical band on the right side of the screen but it does not show at any time other than with a very few test screens and never with normal content. Again, for me not an issue and I can be picky about these things. Returning this set for either of these issues might well mean getting a screen with the same or worse issues AND some pixel issues to boot. No thanks. This long range transaction has worked out satisfactorily and I am not one to needlessly pursue perfection.
I have already calibrated the set using an Eye One Display 2 meter and CalMAN software. The picture quality was great right out of the box but now it has that tweaked look that brings an even bigger smile to my face. There are however some minor issues remaining. I have noticed some slight fast motion processing blur with my Comcast cable viewing. But this has nothing to do with the set as DVD and BluRay viewing are perfect in this regard. The older Zenith EDTV has stellar processing weighing almost as much as this 58B650 and I guess is better able to conceal the Cable compression issue when down-rezzing it to 480P. Oh well, you cannot have everything. Also on news channels, there is a distinct difference between HD studio content and field or location content, which is largely SD. The mixture of the two is not always successful leading to haloing and Mosquito like noise around graphics. SD imagery when mixed like this is seriously deficient with interlacing artifacts. Again, this may be totally due to Comcast or it may be a set issue, so far an unknown. Still, calibration has improved the viewing in all important respects including motion and I can choose to run my Cable through an Onkyo PR-SC885 processor to further clear up any Video issues, especially with SD. Generally though I prefer direct connection.
The Easter eggs provided with this set, like the Art gallery of Impressionist pantings, was a big suprise to an art lover like myself. I used this image slideshow to help burn-in the set for the first few hundred hours. I can imagine those who wall mount would feel like owners of the actual paintings when they are displayed, which must have been what Samsung had in mind. The colors are superb!
Which happily brings me to my closing thoughts. Samsung is simply the best at color processing. Their color accuracy out of the box is well known. Take full advantage of this. My suggestion is to use the Movie Mode at either Warm 1 or Warm 2 and sit back and enjoy. For TV viewing, Standard is fine and certainly preferred over anything offered in the Dynamic mode, which you can use for TV, if you must, but never for critical viewing. Samsung has seen fit to provide a fully adjustable Color Management System in the User menu so really entering the Service menu should be unnecessary for the average Joe. Other manufacturers like Panasonic only give this kind of adjustment to their top line models. And even then they still provide inaccurate color and now, it is discovered, rising black levels.
FYI, the 58B650 has an initial Minimum Luminance level of .012 - .015 range depending on what content was previously onscreen and how long of a reasonable rest time is allowed before measuring. Over time, say a 2 hour movie, it can drop to .0085 or so at 0 IRE so the black levels of this set are just fine. Inky blacks like those of the Pioneer Kuro are not going to be found here and likely will not be found anywhere for some time, or at least not until Panasonic chooses to get its house in order. We can only hope the Pioneer technology patents sold to Panasonic will not be wasted.
Let me also say to those addicted to the Sharpness setting on TVs, do not take this set over 7 as the inherent sharpness of 1080P and the Sammy processing make it absolutely unnecessary. You will only create artifacts. I generally use 3 or so and that is likely unnecessary as well.
Overall, I am very pleased with the set and with Vanns and would certainly recommend them to anyone interested in saving money and dealing with a reputable vendor. I look forward to many years of happy and hopefully trouble-free viewing.

When my Sony TV gave up the ghost before Christmas I started to shop around for a replacement. First I checked Consumers Report for their ratings on Flat Screen TVs. Then I went to Kim Komandos web site and researched what to look for in a TV. Since our family room is situated where you cant view the TV directly on we decided to take the advice of both of these source and get a Plasma. I checked all the local stores for their best deals and their prices. Both Consumers Report and Kim Komando said that you could get a great deal from companys on the computer. Both mentioned Vanns as a place to check out. After checking several sites I found Vanns prices couldnt be beat. I figured even if I had to pay someone to come to my house to hook the set up I was getting a good deal. Vanns met all my expectations. They have great prices and the 58 inch Samsung TV was delivered when they said it would be. We wanted it here in time for the Super Bowl. Vanns personnel really went over and above to answer all my questions. I have been telling everyone I meet about Vanns. I was able to get the TV , DirecTV and my CDVCR hooked up by myself. Bottom Line Up Front--Super value for a Super product--an enthusiastic thumbs-up.
This is a superb product that I would buy again. First, a bit of history. For the past 3 years, Ive NOT been a plasma enthusiast because of my experience with a 50-inch Panasonic plasma. The picture cannot be adjusted extensively, it magnifies glare in relatively bright rooms, and consumes too much energy, manifested as radiative heat.
So, I had pretty much taken to extolling the virtues of LCD sets. But, while LCD sets have improved recently, they still lack certain capabilities in which plasmas excel. Namely, contrast ratios including blackest blacks, lack of motion-blur, and enhanced view angle. And, they are more expensive.
I decided to take a chance on the Samsung after reading many on-line reviews. What a pleasant surprise! Apparently, in the 3 intervening years since I purchased my old set, plasmas have also improved.
This Samsung is bright, thus minimizing glare issues, has extensive picture adjustment capability, and radiates much less heat. At 58 inches, its actually about 20 lbs. lighter in weight than my 3 year-old 50-inch plasma set.
Some concerns that have been raised by a few on-line reviews of this Samsung model have included a buzzing noise emanating from the screen itself. I cannot detect any hum whatever.
Given the cost of this Samsung hovering around 60 percent of what I paid for the smaller and less-capable plasma set 3 years ago, the premium price that LCD TVs now command over plasmas, and the superb service that I received from an on-line retailer, I can think of few reasons to choose an LCD over this model.
Samsung has hit a home-run with this set.

I spent 2 months researching the LED vs. LCD vs. Plasma thing. LED was just to expensive so it was LCD vs. Plasma. Pricing is close although for anything over 55, Plasma is the only choice.
I liked the brightness of LCD better, but the clearity of Plasma is superior. the biggest issue for me was Gaming. I play Xbox360 at least an hour every day. So I played Need for Speed Shift on both a Plasma & 120Hz LCD. There was NO comparison. the LCD had a lot of Ghosting and image blur taht wasnt supposed to be there. Bottom line If you are a serious Games, go Plasma. the 600Hz is so superior.
As for Brand, Samsung and Panasonic were by far the best looking in my price range. I wne with the Samsung becasue of the features. The Network capability, Online firmware updates and most importantly the ability to play movies via the USB port was the Deal maker for me. The USB port plays MP3 music, Photos in a variety of formats and plays movies in .avi. mp4, .wmv, .ts, Xvid, DviX and a host of others. Drop a Blu-Ray 1080p movie onto a thumb drie, put it in theTVs USB slot & watch 1080p movies. In addition, I believe Samsung have THE BEST picture in terms of Clarity, Color and detail.
WARNING There is ONE thing about the Samsung Plasmas that you need to be aware of They BUZZ! Now ALL plasma TV will have a low buzzing sound, ALL of them, but in a quiet room with the TV at Normal volume, you should NOT be able to hear it. I can just barely hear it until the volime is at 10 or above. Some people have a very loud buzz, some a very low. I dont know why Samsung has a louder buzz then other manufacturers, but it does. personally, I thing the quality of the TV and the stunning picture, is worth it. Its the ONLY thing taht kept me from giving the TV a perfect 5.

I have had my Samsung PN58B650 for about a month now, and everyone who sees it says the colors POP, which seems to be due to the great black levels. In a dark room with a black picture, you can tell the TV is on, but just barely. I have not had it professionally calibrated yet, but just setting the picture on ECO 2 brings the brightness down to a really good home viewing level. With the TV in a corner, the picture is excellent anywhere in the living room and dining room, no loss for being off angle. I have not noticed any motion blur not attributable to the source, unlike the 60 Hz LCD in the other room, and movie judder looks about like it does at the theater, so I have not tried to adjust it.
The TV sound is adequate for normal viewing, but with digital audio to my home theater, it is awesome for sports or movies -- no need to leave the house any more!
Windows XP looks great connected via HDMI, even YouTube and Hulu look good, although they are not high-def. I have walked out of the room and left a static image on the screen, and when I changed it, I could see the window border for about half a minute. I do not know what the true risk of image burn-in is, and I am not testing it on my set, but I would recommend being careful with computers and games. I have adjusted all my cable channels to fill the screen, no bars or boxes.
Overall, I could not be happier with the combination of quality, price, and features. Vanns was great. With Vanns price plus no tax and free shipping, I saved over a third of the price off a local purchase. FedEx got it to me on the first day of the shipping window, and contrary to the description of curbside, brought it into the house and waited while I inspected it.
By the way, this TV does have PIP, but you must use an external source for the primary picture and the internal tuner for the secondary. The only problem is Samsung needs a 1-button method to switch the sound.
If you buy this TV, I would also consider these 3 things. 1. Hook it up to a good home theater system, at least 5.1, for the real movie experience. 2. Get a universal remote with learning capability, as this TVs remote only controls the TV. 3. If you decide to get the extended warranty, call SquareTrade and negotiate the price, you could save a quarter of the cost that way.
I can only think of 2 reasons to not buy this TV. Either your house is less that 55 inches wide, or you are holding out for 3-D. Neither are good enough reasons.

Excellent for sports, and picture holds up well in very light room with windows. Was concerned that large screen 58 would reflect, but it does not noticeably.

I originally was set on getting the Samsung Plasma 58 b560 for the great value offered. But with further research, I wanted to purchase the b650 for the improved Anti-reflection filter, but the price was out of my budget. So I was patient waiting for the price to come down and pulled the trigger on the b650 with the best sale of the year it was only $100 more than the b560.
The AR filter really does a good job of keeping reflections from windows during daytime watching. Of course not as good at anti-reflection as LCD, but acceptable. But whats really satisfying is the picture quality. Really sharp and bright with natural, vivid colors.
Other features such as Media capabilities and internet viewing i think are worth having as well. i especially liked the Gallery features with recipes, wellness and art paintings.
I did a lot of extensive research on hdtv and noticed some reviewers said they had a buzzing problem with many of the Samsung plasmas including this model. Well not my TV! I think its a thing of the past with earlier production, but not anymore or very infrequently. Another concern with some reviewers was image retention. I have never seen any evidence on my TV any burned in images. Lastly some reviewers were critical of the poor sound quality, but i disagree. Its much better than CRT TVs had for sound. The surround sound simulation with the speakers is pretty good for built in TV speakers and definitely acceptable.
After watching for about 300 hours now, i am still in awe of the picture quality. I definitely have no buyers remorse and really enjoy this TV.

The unit unfortunately has qualty control issues that may mean repairs under warranty. I have the often noted hum issue, and after Samsung replaced a large power module second tuner module was faulty and had to be pulled for another to be shipped. That caused two 5 vertical bands to be visible showing pink hue on white backgrounds, and darker black on dark backgrounds. They ordered a whole new plasma panel which has yet to arrive. This is all over 1st 3 mos ownership.

This TV well worth the price. The picture is incredible and the features are a plus. Setup is a breeze but you may want to bump down the contrast. I was a little weary about plasma with the burn-in but havent had any problems. The yahoo widgets are a little slow I did hard wire it instead of paying for the wireless connector but it is cool to watch YouTube videos directly on the TV. There are plenty of hdmi inputs in case you want to hook up your gaming system, or laptop. By far the best TV I could ever own at this price! Football and Hockey never looked so good. Gaming is great also. Ive never seen the holes in the D so clear while playing Madden and dark setting games become clearer and detailed with plasma, especially a 58 one!
Some people complained about a buzzing noise. You can hear it if the volume is very low or on mute. I cant tell when I am watching it at a normal volume level.

Exceptional tv, we went with the plasma version of the 650 series due to very high ratings and have not been disappointed. We went with a plasma vs. LCD due to the predominately dark room the tv was going into, the clarity and sharpness i personally believe is better then LCD. Also, the quality of the picture does not diminish as you move away from the center of the tv as you would see with an LCD, therefore if you have seating around the room this is a great choice.

Ive had this TV for about 3 months. Overall, Im very happy with it. It shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition.
Be aware that you will have to be present to accept the curb-side freight delivery, and have a friend there to help you move the box inside. The box has handles so its easy to maneuver, and unpacking was a breeze. The stand seemed sturdy enough, but I wouldnt trust it not to tip over if given a good thump. I wall-mounted mine also a 2-person job.
I think the design of the TV is very attractive, and I love the red touch of color. I have a lot of burgundy accents in my living room, and it blends right in.
I received a Samsung blu-ray player for Christmas and it works beautifully with the TV. Turning on the blu-ray will automatically power on the TV and set it to the proper input source to use the blu-ray player. I find that I use the Netflix and Pandora streaming features on the blu-ray player more than the Internet@TV features Yahoo Widgets on the TV itself.
One word of caution -- I dont know if this is an isolated problem or an overall Samsung quality issue, but our TV broke within the first few weeks of use. It just started powering itself on and off in an endless loop. Fortunately, Samsung has a 1 year warranty including in-home service. The local service vendor was responsive and came out to work on the TV within a few days of reporting the problem. The parts he had with him did not fix the problem. After more investigation, it turned out that the part we needed was on back order, so the service vendor arranged to replace the entire plasma panel which included the part. This saved us several weeks of waiting for the back ordered part. This experience would not prevent me from purchasing this TV again, but I would seriously consider going with an extended warranty plan.
Positives
* Good picture quality, bright, high contrast.
* Decent audio from the built-in speakers better than I expected.
* Good layout on the remote control.
* Menus are easy to navigate.
* Integrates nicely with other Samsung devices.
* In-home service included with manufacturers warranty.
Negatives
* Accessing the Internet@TV features Yahoo Widgets can be very slow.
* Not all Yahoo Widgets are supported.
* The audio output is static i.e. volume cannot be adjusted via the TV, so if you use external speakerssub, you will need to find another way to adjust the volume.
* Possible quality problem...?

After researching plasmas for several months it came down to this product. I was almost scared away by all the talk on forums about buzzing and the cinema smooth issue. I am sooo glad I went ahead and purchased this product. The picture is unbelievable. I thought my old rear projection Hi-Def was good. It literally paled in comparison, as did all the plasmas from other manufacturers IMHO.
As for the buzzing, yes my set does buzz. It seems most prominent if you are at eye level with the center of the screen and seems to be loudest 10 to15 feet from the center of the set. It is hardly noticeable as you go out to either side of the set. Though it is not loud enough to be heard over the audio of the set and background noise even in the loudest buzz zone This could be a problem if you have a keen ear and your arrangement puts your set centered at head height when seated. That being said you cant hear the buzz at all when seated in the viewing arrangement I have. I have the set mounted above the mantle of my brick fireplace. The center of the set is about 6 feet 6 inches off the floor. My seating area is about 14 feet from the set. There are numerous reports of people who state their sets do not buzz at all. I also know that some have had their sets repaired, under manufacturer warranty, and the buzz went away and some did the same to no avail. This was the toughest part of the decision for me.
As for the cinema smooth issue, I cannot distinguish any difference in picture when it is active verses when it is not, so this is a non issue for my set.
The only negative, besides the buzzing if you happen to have the set at eye level, is the sound quality from this set. It is not good. The speakers are weak sounding. They will get loud but they have very little bottom. For normal programming this is not a deal breaker but I would recommend you have some sort of sound system to compliment this set for movies, sports, etc...
The set has a lot of nice features and some I will never use. You can review all that for yourself. I got an awesome deal from Vanns on this set. The price I got was what finally convinced me to make this purchase. I am so glad I did. The picture this set produces is beyond compare. I would recommend you purchase an extended warranty through one of the available online warranty services. Do some research and find the one that suits your needs. The one offered here would have been my second choice. I got a five year from another source for about the same as the three year here. My set arrived later than anticipated but it was ordered during the holidays and this was probably why. The shipper unloaded the set and allowed me to un-box and fully inspect it before I signed off on it. He stated he had delivered several of these sets and had one that was delivered with the box completely intact with no sign of damage but the screen had a large crack in it when it was unboxed, so check your set before you sign off on it.

Although there is a slight buzz that can be heard at low volume. But that is common in plasmas. Image retention is minimal and only happens when there is side bars on non HD programing. It disappears very quickly. During the day in a semi bright room, the picture is still outstaning and glare is not a problem. I highly recommend this TV for gaming or just regular TV watching.

Bought this tv before Christimas and still enjoying it. Picture is awesome, good size, good functions. I like the swivel base too since sometimes I need to seat at the corner of the room and I can still watch at an right angle. Unit is not hot at all even after long running time. My old plasma got very hot after long running time. Highly recommended!

BE ADVISED. THE INTERNET CAN ONLY BE ACCESSED USING A SAMSUNG PROPIETARY WIFI DONGLE THAT IS AN ADDITIONAL $79.00 - IF YOU CAN FIND ONE. THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. THE SALEPEOPLE ON THE PHONE NEVER ONCE TOLD ME THIS. THEY JUST PITCHED THAT IT WAS WIFI INTERNET READY. I WONT BE BUYING SAMSUNG ANY FURTHER SINCE THIS SCENARIO IS AKIN TO SELLING A CAR AND CHARGING YOU EXTRA FOR THE WINDSHIELD THAT IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE.

The picture and features on this Samsung plasma television are top notch. I upgraded from cable to Directv to take full advantage of what television is capable of....WOW am I impressed!
The great price and speed of the delivery were just icing on top of the cake.
The only negative I could possibly find is the sound is not stellar, but none of the flatscreens are really any good. I plan to hook it up to a surround system so the sound will not be an issue.

Unfortuantely, when the set arrived the screen was damaged. The Vanns customer service rep was apologetic, kind, and helpful. I was given a RMA authorization number and shipping label. The set was picked up,but unfortunately was lost in transit back to the warehouse. To Vanns credit, they quickly gave me a credit for the purchase and I was able to buy the set locally. As for the Samsung 58 plasma, it is an awesome TV and I highly recommend it. I hope the next customer is luckier than I was with the shipping company.

The picture is spectacular, crisp and clear. The colors are true. The set is attactive in appearance and does not seem to dominate the room despite the large screen. The pricing was the best we found of all the better brands. I would recommend it to anyone even for a medium sized room. You can enjoy it from as close as 5 feet away or as far as 20 feet away. I am very pleased with this TV,

Great HDTV picture quality is excellent. Easy to adjust picture settings to what you like. I suggest going to CNET to use their settings if you are not tech savoy. I was watching the set standing in front of it in my house from 4 feet away and no noticeable pixelation. Media player on set is awesome. If you download movies this set is great. It plays many fromats. I plugged in a USB drive that I had some movies on and it played them with no problem. Image quality on blue ray and standard DVD excellent. I was watching Dark Knight and the action seens pop out no blurring. TV this large you have to use a home theatre system or you wont get full effect of what your watching without the matching sound. Vanns service excellent ordered it late on a Sunday night and received it the following Wednesday. I live in southern Cal and it was sent from Montana fast delivery .

Being a sports fan, I chose this TV because of the Plasma technology. I would have bought the 850 model if it had true PIP with two tuners. As it is, this hit the sweet spot as far as value.
I love the picture compared to anything Ive eve seen. We set it on high energy savings so it dims the picture somwhat, but I actually prefer that way, so go figure. The picture is so vibrant it is truly amazing! I also like the ability to hook to the internet, thought I do this through the Blu-ray I also purchased.
The YouTube through the Blu-ray is better than the YouTube through the television, seem to be more fully featured. YouTube is limited through the TV alone.
Overall the TV is easy to use, has a superb picture and sound and I highly recommend it. By the way, no buzz.

I researched every plasma in the 50 inches and up range, and this was the one that I decided on. It has all the features and quality that I was looking for, plus I just cant get enough of the Samsung style!
Once I decided on this exact model number, I just needed to find the best price. Thanks to Vanns, I paid over $500 less than I would have anywhere else. Free shipping too!
When it got here, the freight delivery guy actually wheeled it over to my apartment and, with a little of my help, he even carried it up the stairs to my front door on the second floor! I love everything about the experience of getting my new TV. Thank you Vanns!

Just purchased Samsung 58 plasma totally satisfied, the picture is mesmerizing. Find myself just staring in amazement the look of the TV is awesome too. The Samsung replaced Pioneer 43 plasma the picture quality is like night and day. The Samsung 58 fits my room size perfect 20x15 the 43 was not big enough. The only negative is I had to purchase the WIS09ABGN to use the wireless capabilities, wasnt cheap. Hooked up my PS3 and played a game of madden 2010 outstanding. I highly recommend this TV

Great picture quality - clarity, color, black levels, etc., right out of the box! User friendly with the ability to make lots of adjustments, if you want to. Also, I personally like the subtle red Touch of Color. The only con with the set is the weak sound system, like every other flat panel on the market. However, the sound is tolerable, after adjustments, for daily viewing but if you really want to overcome this, add a home theater system - I did.

Recently purchases the Samsung 58B650 from Vanns, as they had the best price. TV arrived 2.5 days after order. Set up within 15 minutes, as I was upgrading from a 47 LCD. So, all the hook ups with my surround sound and other equipment were already there. Just had to switch them over to the new TV.
The picture quality and color depth with this plasma TV far exceeds my prior 47 LCD. Glare has not been an issue. Checked out the LEDs prior to buying the plasma but reviews were mixed and from what I can tell the plasma picture is superior. Price point with Vanns made this an excellent choice for my needs.
Took a chance ordering a plasma tv on line that I hadnt seen in person and also buying from a unknown supplier Vanns out of Montana. However, results have far exceeded my expectations. This is a great TV and Vanns provides excellent products at very competitive rates. Highly recommended both this TV and Vanns.

I have been reseaching t.v.s for the pas 2 months. I looked at all of the brands. L.G. Samsung. Panasonic. Sony and so on. I used CNET and alot of customer reviews to help me w my decision as well as going and doing a side by side comparison and I have to say that it wasnt even close. This Samsung blows them all away. Honestly the second best was L.G. I watch the t.v.s as I shop for them. I change the channels at the local stores and even play with the pic adjustments. I can honestly say that this t.v. has the best pic. best sound. and extras out there for the $$$$ and that is what you want out of a product. Vanns was great. They beat all prices, it was delivered on time with no damage and I got the warranty all for less then the locals could sell me the t.v. alone. So satisfied with this t.v. and trust me you wont be dissapointed on this one. Check it out.
