HDTV to the pth degree
The ultimate home theater machine, Samsung's PN59D8000 plasma HDTV produces amazing black levels (thanks to the Real Black Filter and local contrast enhancers) and pure whites for exceptional depth in all scenes. Along with rich detail, melt into a totally new HDTV dimension with the 25,000,000:1 contrast ratio. As if that's not enough, the D8000 is made for 3D content. The Crystal Full HD engine expands performance, enhances all aspects of the image, and takes picture quality to a whole new level. Don't have a 3D Blu-ray player (yet)? The PN59D8000 can upconvert regular 2D content to immersive 3D. Adding to its flexibility, the D8000 is ready to get you connected with Samsung's AllShare DLNA networking and built-in Wi-Fi. Take home entertainment to new levels with Smart TV web and app content and Skype capabilities.

Did a lot of research before I purchased this TV. It proved to be all I expected and more. Anyone looking for a fairly large tv would do great with this set. Ive had it a couple weeks now and am still finding great thing about it. Couldnt find a better price for this set than at Vanns. And with great service.

I like the TV a lot but, the apps loaded with internet feature, are a lot to be desired and the surfing is a bit hard if you have arthritic fingers because, you end up constantly back spacing and making corrections. Im a retired coal miner of over 40 years and I dont have the nimble fingers that the power texters of today have, so yes the buttons on the keyboard side of the remote are quite small so..I rarely look at them. But, I didnt buy the TV for the internet ,rather for entertainment value and picture quality..... and that had met and almost exceeded my expectations..

Ive had this TV for about a month now. It has beautiful picture quality and looks very nice. I like the 3D on this TV better than I like it in movie theaters. Vanns has the best price on this TV that Ive seen. The TV did take longer to deliver than I wouldve liked, but the box and TV were in great shape when I received them. I would highly recommend this TV. I have no negative feedback, it looks great on my wall and I love it.

The TV has a great picture, connected to the home network with no problems. My only complaint is about the twitter conversation I had with Samsung Support that lasted over several days and included a few pictures. After the picture showing the problem was submitted as requested I was told that the TV DID INDEED NEED to be serviced. Then I was asked if I would accept a similar model refurb! I felt that the TV was only 2 weeks old and is supposed to be their Top of the Line or Flagship model that I didnt know what they could offer that would be similar! Unless they have the 2012s ready to go the Top of the Line should be replaced with a Top of the Line model. It was after that when they decided that the dont fix TVs with bad or locked pixels. The policy on their site implies that they make exceptions for where a dead pixel sits in the screen. My dead one in about a third of the way up the screen and about a quarter of the way across the screen from the side, 10.25 inches up & 13.5 inches from right putting it well into the screen. A bad pixel that far into the screen on a Flagship, Top Of The Line Model TV they sell at the premium price they get for that I expect them to put out something better than the budgets do. Its too bad too because I have 3 of their TVs and a cousin has even more and larger ones and I can guarantee he will know what happens to me during this purchase. Their service was all friendly untill I said I preferred mine repaired instead of replaced with some unknown Something Similar. I only wanted to be fair in case others are thinking of buying one they may check what Panasonics service would have done for this same problem. Just to be clear Vanns was great to work with, this is what I went through with Samsung Support.

What an incredible television. Took me a little getting use to at first with all of the controls. The remote is compact and easy to use with nice size buttons. The picture quality is amazing. The sound from the television is somewhat lacking so I use my home theater speakers most of the time. Im not a big fan of 3D but use it occasionally and friends are usually impressed by it. Overall a great unit. Very happy with my decision.

I purchased this tv after seeing the great reviews it was given on CNET. For the most part this is a great tv. Image quality is amazing and there are a lot of functionalities. However I would think that for being the top Samsung tv they would have included other features such as a tv guide. The remote is a bit bulky as it has two sides one with a full qwerty keyboard. It has an advance sensor that disables the side that is not being used so make sure to use the remote facing the correct side or the tv wont respond. There is almost no manual with instructions on how to use certain features on the tv. I had to do a lot of research in order to use the more advanced features such as Audio Return Channel for my home theater system use HDMI 2 and set tv to external speakers. If you are looking for a great image quality this is a tv for you however I would caution as the more features you want to use on this tv you will have to do some research and digging around as they really skimped out on the manual.

I researched this set versus other Samsung sets, including LED, and found other reviews that led me to believe that this set would meet or beat their performance at a lower price. They were right. This set is awesome. Moved from a JVC 50 plasma at 720p to this set. 3D is great. Color is great. No noise. No reflection. Rich blacks. Looks like a LED due to the thin frame. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Vanns delivery was perfect. Common carrier delivery inside my house for $10 bucks cant be beat. Got to me in Charlotte in 3 days.

The new Samsung D8000 series plasma TVs are simply amazing! I purchased the Samsung PN59D8000 TV for my living room and it looks just stunning on my wall. The smaller bezel makes the TV look like a picture mounted on my wall and with a super slim wall mount it would be easy to mount this along side hanging wall art and not feel out of place.
The overall value of this monitor is excellent. It is extremely thin and sexy looking, the picture quality is on-point and the Smart-TV features makes this TV a real winner. You won't need any additional web device to access NetFlix, HuluPlus, YouTube, Facebook or Flickr - its all built-in!
