Plasma: HDTV for the entertainment perfectionist
The ultimate home theater machine, Samsung's PN51D7000 plasma HDTV produces amazing black levels (thanks to the Real Black Filter enhancer) and pure whites for exceptional depth in all scenes. Experience the depth and dimension plasma has to offer with the 15,000,000:1 contrast ratio. As if that's not enough, the D7000 is made for 3D content. The Crystal Full HD engine expands performance, enhances all aspects of the image, and takes picture quality to a whole new level. Don't have a 3D Blu-ray player (yet)? The PN51D7000 can upconvert regular 2D content to immersive 3D. Adding to its flexibility, the D7000 is ready to get you connected with Samsung's AllShare DLNA networking and built-in Wi-Fi. Take home entertainment to new levels with Smart TV web and app content and Skype capabilities.

I replaced my 720p TV with this one and have been incredibly impressed. Wonderful contrast and refresh rates. I also chose to link this to retire my AVs source switching and connect all of my video sources directly to the TV and then hook the audio to my AV system via the fibre optic connection and the sound quality is somehow better than it was when I connected my video sources directly through the AV system ... I dont see how this is possible, as routing the audio through the TV and then to the AV system should be no better than hooking the audio directly to the AV system, but I swear it works better for some reason with no more hiccups in the 5.1 audio. Awesome video quality. Awesome sound from my 5.1 AV system. The smart hub apps are interesting, though the interface is overly fussy and confusing. Your remote doesnt include a keyboard, though by installing iPad remote app, which while not perfect, it expands the keyboard options over the built in remote. The Hulu and Netflix apps are good, better than the equivalent apps on TiVo, but not quite as good as through the PS3 ones. And Vudus streaming of 3D content is very cool and it worked practically effortlessly, but there really arent any good 3D movies available so I havent had a chance to test this rigorously. Some little annoyances I also wish I could somehow tell the TV to take the antennaTV and the PC sources out of the list of available sources so when I cycle through sources, the antenna which has nothing plugged in still shows up, and, confusingly, have two sources labeled TV, the antenna which has nothing connected and my actual TV source. Admittedly, Ive had this problem with every HD TV Ive played with, but it just makes it a little more complicated to make the TV wife proof no offense to wives intended. Also, it lets you name the input sources, but you have to pick from their long list of options and cant type your own, thus I didnt have an option for TiVo or for DVR. Final annoyance is that I found the default video settings for every channel a little flat and tweaked it from standard to movie mode. Good controls there, but I personally found myself wanting to tweak settings for each of my HDMI video sources. The 3D quality with the nice, light, SSG-3500 glasses is ok, but not great in comparison to the standard, brilliant HD video, but I think thats a function of 3D and not this TV. Im not a huge 3D fan anyway, so this isnt a huge problem. With those comments notwithstanding, I love this TV. Quality knocks my socks off. I have no hesitation recommending it.

The quality of the TV is top notch for the price. I havent experienced any flaws with the TV. The only real difference is that the shadowing that has been mentioned as one of the drawbacks of the TV is present. Usually you woul expect the shadows to display with a shading of gradient blacks, however, the shadows just appear to be a dark black. Other than that this TV is great and considering I paid $600 less than the next best leading TV Id say its well worth it if you dont get concerned of a tiny flaw like shadowing.

Wonderful TV. Excellent color accuracy. This is my first plasma. LCDs and LEDs are brighter but this plasma has a much better viewing angle and color. As long as you aren't in a super bright room, this Plasma should win every time. Also it is incredibly thin. Thinner than my 2010 Samsung LN46C630 LCD.
