We ordered the PZ850 on 27 May from the Vanns website and they indicated it would be delivered on June 2nd, the following Monday. Imagine our surprise when it arrived curbside on Friday the 30th. Although the box appeared to be OK, the plasma display in back of the glass was trashed so we refused delivery and returned it to Vanns. It only took one call and Vanns sent a replacement which arrived the following Thursday. Just before it arrived, CNET posted their evaluation of the TH50PZ800 and claimed that it was the best plasma they had ever tested. While waiting to get our new TV in a cabinet, we tested it on cable in Standard picture mode and were not impressed compared to our other plasma and LCD. However, once installed in the cabinet, we turned on the Studio Reference mode and were absolutely blown away by the fine detail and dynamic contrast range. Since then we have added a bridge wireless module to our home network and now we can view YouTube, Weather Channel and other Viera Cast features. One of the first things we did on-line was to upgrade the TVs firmware. We simply insert the SD chips from our digital cameras watch still slideshows or full motion videos This is truly a TV for the future. We are waiting for the forthcoming DMP-BD50 Blue Ray DVD player to show this TV at its best. I bet that CNET gives it an even higher rating than the 50PZ800U. This is an expensive set but do not hesitate if you want the best in plasma.
