A little hesitant odering this TV online. But getting it from Vanns was a pleasure. Quick, courteous people.
TV is really nice visually, but the picture is totally insane. I have a Sony Bravia LCD and the Samsung picture blows it away. Everyone who sees it cannot beleive the colors being so vivid. Also liked the fact that it has a Ethernet port for direct connect to your network and internet.
This is my second Samsung TV, would definetly buy another without hesitation.

Its been about 2 weeks, Im pretty happy so far. No buzzing sound at all. Great picture quality, and the 1080p with BluRay is just mind-blowing. Still have it on burn-in parameters except occasionally, so my real enjoyment is going to start in about 2 weeks.

I purchased the Samsung 50 650 plasma the week of Christmas and Ill tell you, I cant believe the quality Ive received for the price I paid. My family and I love the the clearity of the HD, the colors are so vibrant. The sound of the speakers in the TV from 1-10 are about a 4 or 5 at best. But, hey if youre investing the reasonably priced set like this for movies and sports, you gotta go the extra mile and get a good sound system. Right now we are using an old stereo system for the time being. We watched the superbowl. Who needs to pay all that money for a ticket.
Thank you Samsung endlessly for this product.

Buy this TV. Its great... every step of the way was easy - no complaints about anything. Price was the best- delivery was beyond expectation as the driver even helped bring set into our front foyer. Set was simple to set up - factory preset picture settings are outstanding. We had gone to the box stores to see set in person & thought it was real nice. I went from the Panasonic 50 inch plasma 720p to the Samsung 50 inch 1080p. The difference is the picture is clearer and the heat that comes off the Samsung is nothing compared to the Panasonic. It appears to be more efficent too. I also like the border of the Samsung. Very happy with everything about it.

I am very happy with the new TV and would recommend it highly to anyone wanting a new big screen. This is my first flat screen TV and I think it was a good choice. I purchase and Samsung 550 LCD series first and sent it back. Picture was poor and you needed to adjust the settings when changing channels. This 650 series plasma has an excellent picture. Great for regular cable, gaming, and You-Tube videos. Yahoo widgets are sluggish but a nice feature. Search input with the remote is slow.

This purchase was my first introduction to high definition and I went with plasma for the gamer in the family. He loves it. All of us are delighted witih the quality of the picture. We didnt wall mount it and I am glad, because we are able to turn it when daylight produces glare.
I wondered if it might be too large for the small rooom it inhabits but the advice to go big was right on.
The sales experience with Vanns was exceptional. I got accurate answers to my many questions and delivery was exactly as promised. I will definitely use Vanns again.

Perfect TV for what I was wanting. I use the tv for my ps3 and for DirectTV and it is wonderful. Does make a little buzzing noise but I knew this going in as all plasmas do. Overall I am very very pleased with this tv. Also, very pleased with Vanns they are great to work with.

We are very pleased with our new Samsung Plasma HDTV PN50B650.
it was a snap to set up. The picture quality is superb. We went with the Plasma since we intend to watch a lot of classic and epic movies as well as for major sports events. The result has been stunning, not only with BluRay but with DVDs as well.
Watched the Super Bowl, and again, the picture quality was superb.
From an audio perspective, the quality is acceptable. We have a traditional family room as opposed to one of the newer ginormous great rooms, so not sure how the sound would be perceived . But for us, it is fine.
It is very easy and intuituive to use and the remote is very good.
Would recommend this product, as well as Vanns. The price was ideal, and the delivery was fast and trouble free.

I bought the Samsung PN50B650 to replace the 42 pioneer plasma I had. I could not be happier with this purchase. The picture is clear. The blacks are deep. It is as good if not better than the pioneer plasma I had before. When watching a sporting event I feel like I am there on the court or field. The only downfall is that in the late afternoon there is a glair on the TV from the sun. This is to be expected because it is a plasma. If you are in a really sunny room I would maybe consider an LCD. For the money you will not find a better TV.

At 60, Ive seen TVs from our first 17 B&W to this magnificent 50 Plasma from Samsung. This is without a doubt, the most spectacular set Ive seen. I knew 5 years ago that at some point a large screen plasma would be mine, but the prices then were just too high. From the deepest blacks, to the brilliant, vivid colors, and resolution that is impressive even in hi-speed motions scenes, this set delivers. The Touch of Color trim makes this set stand out as well. Subdued and unobtrusive, yet distinctive. Living in Indiana and being a Colts fan, I was blown away by the HD widescreen feeds of the games...it was better than being at the game itself! And what a deal plasmas are now compared to LCDs of the same size. I would highly recommend this set to anyone interested in a new large widescreen TV.

recommended the same TV to our friend in Philadelphia Presutti He and his wife were also
impressed with the product.
We were very happy that the Samsung had many HDMI connections we have an Apple TV and a VCR and a verizon DVR connected to them. The source is easily found and easy to switch.

Before i bought this particular flat screen, i done about 3 months of research from a popular magazine that does research on such tv,s. It listed this particular brand and model number as number one in its category and i needed to have one for myself..now, when i first got the tv, i wasn,t sure what to expect. my cable system on certain channels would not allow the greatness of this tv to show,but when put on those high difinition channels,bam! the tv showed up above and beyond my expectations,,,,great tv, and i difinatley reccommend it to anyone looking for a sharp flat screen plasma tv,,,,,,,,,Samsung, keep em coming like this one!

I wanted to see some of the models rated by Consumer Reports at my local video outlets, e.g., Best Buy & HHGregg. However, the 50 inch Samsung plasma was not carried by either store. They did carry the 58 inch and I was impressed w the picture quality but not the price. So I went online to see what price I could get for the 50 inch. I checked a number of dealers listed by Amazon. Vanns was one of the dealers and Consumers had rated it as getting excellent reviews. Vanns price was $1 cheaper than Amazons but when I e-mailed Vanns for a better price, the price was dropped another $90. With free shipping and no sales tax, that did it and I ordered it from Vanns. After owning the TV for about 3 months, I have been completely satisfied w both Vanns and the TV. The shipping of the TV went very well and it arrived 1 day early. The TV picture quality is excellent and I have had zero problems getting it up and working. I use it primarily for cable TV and have not tried other things as of yet.

I remember when we got our first color TV, I thought I died and went to heaven, but this 50 plasma goes way beyond that experience.
The picture is perfect, sometimes even seems like 3D. The audio is great, we dont strain to understand what is being said, especially with foreign presentations like Sherlock Holmes.

They had the best mix for me at the time. I was in no hurry for the TV. They kept me up-to-date on the status via email and it shipped when ultimately promised. I dont think I could have had a smoother experience buying a back ordered item.

I had a big Sony HDTV that I purchased about 4 years ago that went bad. Considering I had paid almost $4k for it, you can imagine how upset I was. I knew this time around that a little better resolution was available and that flat panel plasmas had dropped in price. I searched a lot of review sites on the Web and made the decision to go with a Samsung. I had some not so god experiences with the big internet electronics stores that were in NYC or somewhere thereabouts and decided this time I was going to find another internet electronics house somewhere besides there. After a lot of Google searches, I found Vanns and they had great reviews as a company and their prices were great also. I was amazed at how fast my TV was delivered like 4 days over 1300 miles and more shocked at the incredible quality of the Samsungs picture. I had HD before but this thing is like HD to the MAX! I love it and cant stop watching it. Im a huge NCAA basketball fan and the games in HD are simply amazing! There is never any lag or fuzziness like I had before and the clarity is simply the best. You cant go wrong with this TV or with Vanns. I will assure you I will be buying all of my electronics from Vanns and Im also very impressed with the quality of Samsung products. Ill NEVER buy another Sony!!!!

I bought this TV in December and like it. I was a little worried reading other reviews, concerning buzzing sounds. We have never heard them. The picture is great, I am impressed by the way you can even watch it from the side without distortion. Best decision I made.

I took about 2 and a half years to commit to buying a 50 incher like this one. I researched and reviewed and still had angst about which Plasma brand to buy. Ive always liked Panasonic but this was a great deal so I went for it. Needless to say, I am not sorry!! This Samsung is Excellent, as far as picture quality, which is my main reason for buying a plasma TV. It is not very good with Dish standard resolution, but O.K.. I switched out my HD receiver from my other TV, and Amazingly the 50 inch came alive! not literally. I cant imagine that even the Panasonic V10 could be any better than the clarity of this Samsung! The UltraFilterBright works very well and I have overhead recessed lights and lots of windows to one side of the TV. Reflections and glare are very minimal. The shiny frame reflects more than the screen does. The color saturation and perceived accuracy was Great right out of the box, but I reset the settings according to Cnets recommendations, but couldnt tell a significant difference. The remote is very easy to navigate but high gloss and shows fingerprints easily. I have not used the internet features yet, so cannot comment on those.
Blu-Ray looks very realistic as though you are looking out a clear window on a beautiful day. I have a Samsung Blu-Ray and it automatically turns the TV on when I put a disk in the player and changes the TV to movie mode . Sound from the built in speakers is adequate for regular programming, but I have it hooked up to an Onkyo surround receiver for movies, which I would recommend for anyone with this great of display. I have had the TV for less than a week but it arrived from Vanns just before the Superbowl. WoW, everyone came over to my house this year!! Compliments were plentiful on the Samsung B650 and its picture quality!

I researched televisions for quite a while before deciding on the Samsung PN50B560. I wasnt sure whether to go with LCD or Plasma but decided for the price difference I would go with Plasma. It was not a mistake. The picture on this unit is excellent and a better picture would be hard to find on any television. In daylight there is a slight glare when black is shown on the screen but not much more than the comparable LCD s I have seen. Consumer Reports rated this the top unit out of all the plasma and LCD televisions they have currently reviewed and the reviews were right on target. Get this television and you will not be disappointed. CC

I ordered this television for my father as a Christmas present about a year ago from here. I figured the shipping would take at least 3 or 4 days. it took 24 hours. Needless to say, my dad got his present early which was great. Vanns prices were the best ones I could find for this television and they still are, shipping and all.
I have been nothing but happy with this purchase both times, and having not had HD before, love watching my football games with that extra umph.
The only problem I can say is that the burning is a slight issue for things like scoreboards that stick to one spot. But this is expected and I have yet to see any long term effects.
Overall, great TV for a great price.

I already have a Samsung 42 inch Plasma TV that I bought from Circuit City in 2006. The TV has served me well and I decided to upgrade to 1080p and a bit larger for the living room.
I got a GREAT deal on this TV from Vanns! A 50 inch 1080p feature rich TV under 1000 dollars! This is 300 dollars less then my old one!
PROS The TV is typical Samsung look. Clean linesedges and a great aesthetic. The red is subtle and not at all distractingTouch of Color.
The image quality is fantastic. My 42 inch TV had a buzz to it but I understand thats how Plasmas usually sound and CRT tube tvs as well. This buzz is quieter then my 42 inch. You dont hear it unless your head is right next to the screen.
Burn in is a LOT less on this set then my 06 Plasma. Im in the break in period first 80 hours so trying to take it easier, but did play some games and HD content and didnt see much image retention.
CONS none
Image on this set is way better then LCD or even the new LEDs. You also pay less. Blacks are true black, the contrast is great. The reviews online support the fact that this TV one of the best out there right now!

I did months of research before I ordered this plasma June 2009, it arrived unscathed within 4 days.
First off I do a lot of BluRay watching and xbox360 playing, so I like deep color and fast response time. Which is why everytime I look for a flat panel tv, no questions asked I go to Samsung, Ive had 2 LCDs and now 1 plasma with no problems at all.
With that said, I had the Samsung 40 LCD LN40A530 before I upgraded to this... the difference is astounding. The 50 TOC is very sharp looking, doesnt distract me at all. The glare filter does a great job of removing any light annoyances from the screen. Not to mention the 3,000,000 to 1 contrast ratio with the .001 ms response time which blows away my LCD. First thing I noticed was how deep and rich the colors are on the plasma, with absolutely no ghosting effect for fast pace games or action scenes. The settings on the TV easily allow any user to adjust to their own personal preferences, so setup and tweaking was a total of 15 minutes.
The TV speakers are good comparably, but I dont use them. If youre going to invest in this TV you should have a receiver thats 7.1 or 5.1 to really bring it to life ...my own recommendation... I use all HDMI cables, with a 7.1 Sony MASTER-DTS decoding receiver, and a samsung 1500 blu ray player - having something similar will seriously bring the beautiful picture this TV projects, come to life, trust me Im very picky about quality.
If you are between LCD and Plasma or even between plasma brands, get this TV you wont break the bank as you would getting an LCD or competitors plasma of this quality that even compares to the quality this TV puts out, end of story.

The one I received had gray [not red, which I am delighted with] as the touch of color [50B650] so Vanns or probably Samsung must have made a mistake in their decription of this great televison. I am very impressed with the quality of the picture and the deep inky blacks displayed. The sound is that of a televison, so if you dont have a home theater sound system for movies you should purchase one from Vanns.

I ordered the PN50B650 in early May for my new apartment. It took the estimated 7 days to arrive at my place in Va. The day it came it was raining pretty bad outside and the delivery guy actually waited for a break in the storm to unload it from the truck for me. The delivery says curbside but the loading guy helped me carry it into my apartment for no further charge.
Setup was pretty simple, just put it on its swivel stand and plug it in. The 1080i720p picture from satellitetuner is great and the 1080p from my bluray is unbelievable. Very bright colors and the darks make the room go pitch black except for the power lights on the equipment of course. Several adjustment settings for the picture dynamic,standard,etc and multiple power saving modes so your not pulling a ton of juice just watching the news or something.
The sound out of the box on this is actually really impressive. The SRS TruSurround HD does actually give you a small feel of surround although I wouldnt recommend going with that as your final product for a home theatre of course. But if Im watching a move through my satellite I have no problem leaving only the TV sound on and not turning on the surround system.
4 HDMI hookups is great and important if you dont have an HDMI AV receiver which I didnt the first couple weeks I had this. The Cinema Smooth 24 playback works great and is a must for people wanting to get the best picture out of their blu-ray, I watched Taken last night and there wasnt a single frame that ever looked distorted because there is no pulldown to match up the TV and blu ray frame rates.
Ive tried to think of a couple downsides of the TV so it doesnt seem completely biased, but for a price like this there really arent any. Ive had no burn-in even while playing the Xbox and having your life bar at the bottom for first person shooters. I have limited gaming play time though for the TVs first 80 hours or so to make sure that doesnt happen. The only grudge Ive had is when I turn off my xbox and go to switch video sources it no longer shows the xbox HDMI connection as active, so it has me burried in the bottom of the input selections and I have to scroll all the way back up to get to the satellite input and that was only when I didnt have the AV Receiver hooked up, but thats just me being lazy. Bottom line, AMAZING tv, amazing price, and the no sales taxfree shipping is a huge bonus.
