Dont waste your money on a 1080p. This TV is a great compromise. I did a lot of research and had seen this plasma at other retailers for more than $600 more. The clarity on HD channels is flawless. I was worried about burn in, but this tv has great burn in protection. A friend paused a video game for more than an hour and I experienced ghosting, however after running the burn in protection for aprox 15 min, all ghosting had disappeared.
I also didnt know what to expect buying a tv out of state and online, but the delivery was excellent as well as customer service. I got my plasma on time and saved a ton. Plus I got a free mount. GREAT EXPERIENCE!! |

Purchased this TV to replace a Sony 46 Rear Projection system that failed. I couldnt be happier with the picture and features.
Pros
-Picture quality is amazing! Doesnt matter where in the room you sit, picture is perfect. Blows away the picture on my old Sony!
-Multiple connection options, including 3 HDMI connections. Connections are clearly labeled and easy to follow.
-Able to dial in the picture to my taste. Several pre-set picture modes, but can be changed with many user set options. To change my old Sony picture I was forced to enter the service menu. This TV has so many picture options that can be customized.
Cons
-Slight glare from windows. Not a big deal since my rear projection had the same issue. Lower the blinds and everything is good. |

Hello to society. Listen if you ever need any electronics you definitely need to look up Vanns online. Ive been shopping for a plasma 50 inch television for about 5 months. I never knew that they exsisted until I was surfing the internet and found them. I am more than please with my new 50 Samsung Plasma. The price was remarkable, and the television was even better than that, would you believe they even threw in a dvd player along with it. I am truly satisfied. The shipment arrival time was also awesome.I had my Plasma in less than 4 days. I am a pleased customer and will always be shopping at Vanns, because they do have what you want. In the beginning i bought an lcd 37 but my living room was to big for that size tv. So i looked and looked and looked and was positively not going to buy plasma..I was comparing 42 to 47 but when I seen this tv in real life i was captivated . God gave me a sign, [and it had the best price] so I bought it. Didnt think i was gonna keep it, just had to go for it.This remarkable tv boasts an outragous but 750,000 to 1 [dynamic] contrast ratio that wasnt listed under the details but want, more it also has a 1920 x 1080i resolution! I know, its in my livingroom .I didnt realize it untill i had high definition [hd] cable installed .I simply hit the info button on remote and it said it all. Want more it has split screen pip picture in picture3HDMIs automatac power on, off feature to come on in morning for kids cartoons before school. And it is the most beautiful looking glossy black televison Ive ever seen . What dont want plasma because it lasts only 10 to 12 years. Im sorry but now age thats a long time.I mean think about it spend 15k on a car and be happy if it lasts 10 years right..You buy this tv and you wont be able to belive your eyes when the hd picture comes on.I also have a 39$ dvd player that playes like an hd and it isnt the player its the tv.
Downfall , regular cable picture looks a bit blury, which scared me at first. Why spend 1300 on a tv to watch reg cable. After i upgraded to hd the reg channels even looked hd i mean wow 1920x1080i is in it.If you are reading this trust me its time to get hd tv and hd cable you are missing so much.Good luck on your shopping |

This is our first flat panel tv and we are very pleased. I was looking for a 40-46 plasma or lcd and stumbled across the positive reviews for this particular tv all over the internet. I decided to purchase this tv due to the positive reviews and the great price. This tv is very stylish hanging on the wall and the picture is outstanding particularly when we turn out the lights at night. The colors just jump off the screen at you. Standard definition programming looks very good also. I did a lot of research on lcd vs. plasma and 720p vs. 1080p before purchasing. This tv has one of the best pictures of any tv lcd, plasma, 720p, or 1080p that I have viewed in stores. The only drawback that I feel I should mention is the burn-in that occurs from the station logos in the bottom corner if you stay on one channel too long. Weve managed to minimize this occurring with the Pixel Shift function but it does occur on occasion. The Scrolling feature remedies any burn-in that takes place but you should be aware that this could happen and probably will. Dont get me wrong, we would not trade this tv for any other right now. We have owned our tv for 1 month now. If you are thinking of buying a 40-46, step up to a 50. You will not be disappointed. It was one of our better decisions. |

I was not really impressed with this TV after only owning it for 2 days. First off, I dont know if it is a defect in design, but the whole screen is tilted slightly forward. The picture is pretty sharp, but the whites are not bright enough. The reflective coating works pretty well, but it still has glare. I have some minor pixel issues that I am trying to see if I can return the TV for a replacement.

I have owned the Samsung HPT5054 for a whole two weeks, and Im already regretting it.
If you own a DVR, or are prone to pausing DVDs or VHS tapes, you do not want this television set. Period.
Although it has pixel shift technology, a whole two minutes of sitting on my DVRs menu caused a burn-in, and required nearly 5 minutes of the White screen to get it to go away.
I find that as my DVR has a very rigid menu system Moxi, it likes to burn this menu in just from the time it takes me to searchthrough the channel list! Ive played with various Energy settings, to no avail, and the only suggestion Samsung had was to get a different DVR, and to not pause my DVDs. Great.. so I have to turn my TV off to pause a DVD, and flip through channels the old fashioned way - just to avoid the burn in.
Save up your money to get an LCD unless you want a TV that needs weekly maintenance and inhibits your viewing pleasure. |
