Professional Grade Plasma
Movie images are some of the most difficult for TV displays to reproduce. By working closely with movie studios for many years and applying research by the Panasonic Hollywood Lab, Studio Reference Mode on Panasonic's TH58PZ750U plasma enables the replication of colors just as originally intended by the director--exactly the way they're seen on reference monitors in professional film editing rooms. And there's another professional feature that lets you custom tailor your picture without calling in a video technician. Pro-Setting Mode offers the precise, highly detailed adjustment of image quality to suit personal preferences. Just the touch of a button on the remote executes setting adjustments such as tint, brightness, contour emphasis, gamma compensation, and black expansion that would otherwise require the use of special equipment to accomplish.
Definitive High Definition
With the 58-inch TH58PZ750U plasma HDTV, Panasonic has achieved picture quality that takes your breath away. This full HD 1080p native resolution set displays a maximum of 68.7 billion colors (that's right--68,700,000,000) and 4,096 shades of gradation. A high contrast ratio of up to 5,000-to-1 assures exceptionally rich blacks and brilliant whites. The result is one of the most detailed plasma TV's ever. Three built-in tuners receive standard (NTSC) broadcast or cable signals, HDTV (ATSC) broadcast signals, and unencrypted digital cable (QAM) signals, which means no set-top box for basic digital cable service. There are three HDMI inputs for all-digital transfer of high definition video and multichannel audio signals via a single cable. Now you can enjoy HD entertainment without that cable jumble.
Incredible Picture Deserves Incredible Sound
Incredibly slim and elegant, you'd never guess that the TH58PZ750U includes an integrated 2-woofer/2-tweeter, 31-watt speaker system. But just wait until you turn it on and crank it up. The BBE ViVA HD3D virtual surround sound system creates an authentic and exciting 3-D enhancement effect from the stereo speakers, while preserving the clarity and definition. The TH58PZ750U offers exceptional sound stage imaging, assuring optimal clarity for centrally staged audio material like dialogue. This expansive audio provides a fitting complement to the incredible picture quality of this Panasonic plasma TV.
Deep Blacks, Bright Whites, 68.7 Billion Colors
The realism of TV images is strongly linked to contrast ratio, and this plasma features a very high contrast ratio of up to 5,000-to-1. Such a wide range from black to white means great depth and dimensionality with vibrant colors. Deep blacks provide excellent shadow detail during dark scenes, while brilliant whites allow this Panasonic plasma to render bright scenes with vivid realism. Add to this impressive contrast ratio the ability to display 68.7 billion colors and what you have is a TV that shows you high definition content in all its glory.
HDTV In The Air Tonight
More and more sports, movies, and original network programming is now available in high definition format from local broadcasters. Receive and view your local over-the-air broadcasts on Panasonic's TH58PZ750U plasma in stunning HDTV clarity using the built-in HDTV tuner. And if your cable company passes through HDTV broadcasts from local broadcasters, you can decode and tune those as well. HDTV broadcast or cable content and DVDs offer more detail and better color than analog broadcasts, but it takes a high resolution display to deliver all that picture information. The high pixel count--more than twice the number of 720p resolution--of this plasma display provides fine detail for outstanding HDTV reproduction. More pixels also translate into less stair-stepping artifacts, making curved and diagonal edges look smooth and natural.
Getting It Right--Film On Video
Progressive Cinema Scan (3/2 Pulldown) achieves exceptionally faithful movie reproduction through a sophisticated analog-to-digital conversion. Movies on film are converted to NTSC interlaced video (480i) for television by a process known as telecine conversion, in which the 24 frames-per-second film is converted to video at 60 fields-per-second. The fields are then paired to create 30 frames-per-second 480i video. Some of the frames will contain dissimilar pairs of fields derived from two different frames of the original film, which causes artifacts. Panasonic's Progressive Cinema Scan circuitry converts 480i video to 480p while restoring the original frames of the film for a more authentic movie reproduction. This widescreen TV features a 16:9 width-to-height aspect ratio similar to movie theater screens, providing a theater-like experience at home. View HDTV broadcasts and widescreen DVDs the way they were meant to be seen.
Why HDMI?
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a new standard digital connection between A/V devices, such as set-top boxes, DVD players, or A/V receivers, and a digital telelvision. HDMI offers exceptional video and audio quality with a single quick-disconnect connector. It supports multichannel digital audio transmissions and component video color spacing for true rendering of HD video. HDMI also supports the HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard, allowing transmission of copy protected digital content to your display. The video portion of HDMI is also backward compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface)-HDCP devices using an optional (not included) cable adapter.
Big Screen Slideshow
The best images you can ever view on a Panasonic plasma don't have anything to do with HDTV. Share your JPEG photos taken with an SD memory card-compatible digital camera on the TH58PZ750U through the set's memory card slot. Simply insert the card, which is about the size of a postage stamp, into the slot and enjoy a photo slideshow. This Panasonic HDTV is GalleryPlayer Ready To View. GalleryPlayer allows you to enjoy the world's finest high definition art and photography on your Panasonic HD plasma TV. Use the free GalleryPlayer software to purchase and download the images you like, and then play them on your Panasonic HDTV right from your PC. Sign-up is easy and free. I started looking for a new TV in november of 07. I compared till my wife finally said just buy it already. I did my homework on the HDTVs on line and in high end show rooms for home theaters.I opted for the Panasonic TH58PZ750U for many reasons, price, reliability, picture, warranty and value were just a few of them. My TV would be almost 18 feet away in some seats in our family room, so clear picture and color brightness was a must. Our room is 18 feet by 16 feet with a 20 foot cealing so a large clear picture was important. I called every dealer on Nextag and c-net that sold the panasonic. To get a good idea about who you are dealing with, talk about the product about what you know and see if they are knowlegable. Vanns was head and shoulders above the rest.
PROS, The color brightness was set perfect from the factory. The directions for use were so easy that my 17 year old daughter did most of them while I was out of the room. Syncronizing the TV to other components took some time, just looking up the model numbers of other devices was time consuming. The actual programming was very easy. Total time after the TV got to room temperature to up and running was about 2 hours. The picture and sound are amazing.
CONS, The directions dont cover everything, some home theater systems are not covered and you have to call a 800 number from panasonic. I have a Denon S-302 and the voices would not work through it while playing a blu-ray disk. The solution was simple but it took over 1 hour to figure it out on the phone with panasonic tech support.
I purchased my TV through Vanns because I felt comfortable with their knowledgeable staff. They also told me about promotions that Panasonic was running in January. They gave me a Panasonic Blu-Ray disc and a low profile wall mount for my TV for just a few dollars more. That was a great deal. I called back the other online dealers and was told they would sell me those items and the shipping would be alot more.
I would rate the TV 5 stars for picture quality and sound, ease of connection to other components and the simplicity of instructions. I have 2 other HDTVs at home and this is by far the best of them all.

Panasonics flagship TH-58PZ750U flat-panel Plasma Television is a 58-inch plasma HDTV with 1920 x 1080 resolution, 2 component-video inputS, and 3 HDMI inputs. It has separate RGB-level adjustments and other faetures to adjust the picture that the 700 series from Panasonic lack. In other words, you can make the picture more like the director of a moviE wanted you to see it if you wish and the difference is noteworthy. To me the image quality is everything really and this television sets a new standard that other plasmas will have to try to beat or match and I have seen no others yet that have even come close. The speakers are excellent but I think anyone with a televison like this should have Home Theater sound. I hooked up the Panasonic SC-PT1050 Deluxe 5 DVD Home Theater System to this Plasma and it works and looks great together.
Pansonic decided to not include cable cards on this TV because the new 2 way cable cards will not be out until 2009 or so and the technology is not perfected. A wise move on their part as this television is a work of art and does not need a flawed technology that has not yet been perfected added to it. The cabinet is a stunning piano black and is very attractive and the screen is very non-reflective as far as I can see.I have been blown away from the quality of the picture this Plasma delivers to me even on standard definition programming.High Definition programs are almost 3-Dimensional and extremely pleasing to watch. There is a wow factor evident in th High Definition picture as friends who have seen it have been truly in awe. The picture is that good--no exagerration.
I love using my Scientific Atlanta DVR 8300 that I lease from my cable company with this TV as it acts as both a HD tuner and a recorder with a huge hard drive to use and works perfectly with this Plasma TV. If you have cable as I do I recommend it as it works well with this Plasma.
I ordered this Plasma from Vanns on November 29, 2007 while there were only 2 left in stock and Vanns delivered it to me in 5 days even though I live 2000 miles east of Montana.Vanns really went above and beyond to get this excellent Plasma Television to me fast and at no charge. Bravo on your shipping!!!!!
The TH-58PZ750Us excellent picture detail, rich, vibrant yet accurate colors, great contrast and superb black levels make this Plasma Television the cream of the crop.
