Finally got this Samsung HDTV tuner to run my digital projector - it seems to be the only one available to do this task. Fortunately it does everything that is needed and does it very well. Excellent picture and sound, convenient user interface, full program guide, though that could be a little more complete for future programs listed, and small compact size. Only real, though minor, complaint is that to go between HDMI and Component output you need to flip a switch on the back of the unit.

Samsung has provided the answer for a frustating problem with this great little receiver!
I was among the group that plunged in early in the HD game with an HD Ready TV. Little did I know that the market was not going to provide many good answers for HD Tuners for this generation of TV.
Well, incomes the Samsung DTB-H260F. We are very satisfied with the performance of this unit.
We are currently using the composite video outputs of the unit and are getting Crystal clear 1080i reception. I will soon upgrade our cabling to HDMI and I cant wait to see the results.
Easy, quick, straight forward setup. About ten minutes from box to viewing. The on screen menu system is logically arranged and easy to use.
The only negative comment that I can make is with the channel guide. We are pulling our digital signal in on the QAM side of the receiver with our cable service. When you run a channel search all digital channels, encrypted or not are recognized by the Samsung. So, you end up with alot of dead channels that you need to purge from the channel guide. This long process. Some streamling of this process would be a nice addition.

Nice unit, but theres still a few issues that this unit does not address.
The unit receives OTA signals and digital cable signals and does so quite well. Its light years ahead of my DTC100 and has a more responsive remote than my SIR-T451. But youll have to make a choice, because it wont do both at the same time as there is only one RF input. That leaves me with two cables and most a likely a future ab switch. Panasonics DMR-EZ475VK does have two inputs, but suffers from VERY sluggish response and poor HD output.
The DTB-H260F did tune in my digital cable, my primary input, and the picture looks great. I wish Samsung would allow me to map a new channel # or name to the stations. Ill eventually figure them out, but right now channel 98-103 does not mean much to me. Not an issue if using cable companys STB. After programing, the unit did not pick up any standard NTSC cable channels. I thought the unit should, but didnt bother to look into this any further.
The unit is quiet no fans, compact, and only has a single blue light in the front when on. No leds. The remote is basic, no frills. The program guide does not work with digital cable Time Warner. Nice user screen graphics.. somewhat similar to the SIR-T451. Included are basic video component and audio cables, no hdmi cable. There is a USB port, but for service only.
Reasonable item for the money, great picture quality, just dont expect too much in the way of bells and whistles.

I bought this Tuner to use with my Westinghouse 42 inch LCD monitor. The clarity I get OTA with just an Indoor Terk antenna is amazing. VERY easy to set-up, even for a non-techie like me. The Accessories part of the description does not mention that it comes with component video and audio cables perfectly fine for my application, remote control and batteries for remote. It has HDMI input but doesnt come with the HDMI cable. If you want to watch HDTV OTA with an indoor HD antenna, this is an excellent value.

WOW
This is an amazing product. Although I have a large plasma tv I have been getting by on the limited quality that I get from an air based antenna which is in the attic. Connected the Samsung and the quality of the stations that I now get is unbelievable. I get a bunch of additional stations that were not available over the analog tuner.
This product gets a 10 from me on everything, install, picture, quality and the remote works great.

On our Toshiba 23HLV85 TV, we replaced a Samsung Set top box, SIR-T451 STB that was using component cables and a Terk HDTVi indoor antenna. That set up brought in good reception but had a lot of break up. We installed a newer STP, Samsung DTB-H260F using the latest recommended HDMI cable and a Terk HDTVa amplified indoor antenna.
The more updated STB is mostly responsible for picking up more channels and pictures that dont break up. It is now more clear on which remote to use, and when, the STB or TV remote. I bought a clearance, customer returned, STB at a very good price and it also included free shipping and no taxes. The product was Like New and nothing had been undone. I am very pleased with the purchase and Vanns helpful people.

I have a Sony WEGA TV that only has a analog tuner, and I am running off local broadcast channels Antenna in the Attic. I purchased this to cover the change over to digital signal broadcasting in 2009. This tuner was easy to install, brings in more channels, with better quality. Some of the poorer reception analog channels in my area now come in looking great. The access to the TV Guide for the local channels off the air is also a nice feature. It can also be used to extend the life of analog tuner VCRs that have S-Video inputs. It does not provide a coverted RF output, only a pass-through. I am impressed with this little box and for customers that have a analog tuner TV that is in good condition, and wish to view local digital broadcast channels, this is a nice box. I would recommend it.
