This unit has turned out to be a winner. My interest in purchasing the unit was mainly to transfer my VHS tapes mostly college football games to DVD. Upon inserting the VHS tape and a blank DVD-R disc, the remote allows you to simply press a Record button and the transfer begins. You can then watch your favorite TV channel without disrupting the recording process. There are, of course, other methods for recording, ie. chaptering, titling, etc. But as I said, my main interest was to transfer my VHS tapes some of which are more than 25 years old, I was looking for a simple, one-step process to do this. Now my storage area has become streamlined as the DVD-Rs take up less room. Purchased or rented DVD movies play great. Also, you have the option to record a TV program on a DVD or VHS. If you use a DVD-RW to record programs, you have the ability to erase the disc and reprogram something else on the disc. If you choose to record on a DVD-R, however, you cannot erase the disc so you should choose the DVD-R for programs you wish to keep permanently. Ive also played music CD-Rs on the unit and they played great. So far, I havent found anything I dislike about this unit as it has met everything I was looking for. The price was outstanding compared to our local store prices for the same unit. The unit may not be for everyone, but if you have many VHS tapes that you would like to transfer to DVD, my experience with this unit has been trouble-free and easy. |
