The DVD portion of the SLVD380P combination component has everything you need in a DVD player. A progressive scan output (480P) gives you enhanced picture quality and is a big plus with today's high definition televisions. Other video outputs for the DVD side include component and composite outputs. Component video provides high quality video transfer, but if your TV is not equipped with component video inputs, the composite connection provideanother connection. To take full advantage of the amazing digital sound found on DVDs you have a coaxial digital audio output to connect to a compatible A/V receiver so you can enjoy the benefits of pristine digital audio and especially the amazing surround sound encoded on most DVDs. If you don't have a receiver with digital audio input(s), you're still in good shape thanks to virtual surround sound that can create realistic surround sound using just two speakers. Besides regular DVD, this player will also play DVD+RW/+R, DVD-RW/-R (Video Mode), SVCD, VCD and audio CDs including CD-R/RW discs. Since it can decode MP3, you can even load discs with dozens of songs and be entertained for hours.

But wait, there's more! The SLVD380P also incorporates a full featured Hi-Fi VCR that offers entertaining extras like auto tracking that automatically adjusts itself to give you the best audio and video from every tape you watch. It also automatically sets its own clock and tuner using its time and effort saving plug & play abilities. The 19 micron heads optimize EP recording so you can get the best videos even when you're trying to get the most out of your tapes. If you have S-VHS tapes you can play them on the SLVD380P thanks to S-VHS Quasi Playback. Flash Rewind rewinds a T-120 video tape in about 60 seconds and commercial skip is handy when watching your favorite recorded programs.

Extra Features

The SLVD380P also features JPEG digital picture playback, which lets you view your JPEG digital images from CD-R/RW right on your TV. Hooking up a camcorder, game system or other A/V component is easy thanks to the front panel A/V inputs. With the multi-lingual on-screen display and Remote Commander remote control, controlling your DVD/VCR is simple; and the Remote Commander will also operate most TVs. The really amazing thing is you get a fully featured DVD and CD player, plus all the benefits of a stand alone Hi-Fi VCR, all in one standard sized, extremely convenient component.

I have purchased A sony Slv-D380P VCR & DVD Combo in June, and it work great. For the $ I spent I felt well worth. NO shipping and received the product within 5 days. I brought another one for my 2nd bedroom a few days ago, and it work very well. I will shop again. Good job.
